- I'm back at Zill's High-Performance Nursery talking about new mango varieties coming out in the near future. Also tasted the Karen Michelle mango and we also looked at the tree.

Karen Michelle was an Edward seedling from the breeding program of Gary Zill of Boynton Beach, FL (planting # 1-15). It was named after the wife of Craig Campbell.
The original tree has reportedly been a very light producer. The fruit are large, ovoid and turn yellow when ripe. The flesh is medium-firm, fiberless, and has a very high quality, rich-sweet balanced classic flavor very similar to Edward, with perhaps a touch more sweetness than its parent normally.
We grafted a tree into Karen Michelle in 2017 to evaluate its production habits. The tree began fruiting in 2020 and has produced each year since. It has a moderately vigorous growth habit with a dense canopy. The fruit has ripened early-to-mid season for us so far and has been very resistant to mango bacterial black spot.

I loved Karen Michel. It is so far my favorite this year, it had a lot of coconut flavor. Me and my wife agreed Karen Michel is the best one so far.
Paul Thank you for another grand slam video. I love the format you use for this video where you tried the fruit and then you went to see how the tree grows. This is very helpful information for us backyard mango growers.

Karen Michelle, is a good tasting mango, I had one while I was at zill the past month. Very good tasting mango
For many varieties, the best flavor is by the skin.
The top is cut off because debris, and more importantly, sap accumulates there.
I tasted my first fresh mango a few days ago. WOW! Fell in love. Can I grow one of these in Panama City Beach Florida?

kind of annoying and unsanitize way to cut a mango and wasteful. he spent 10 mins cutting it and give you a tiny piece like for ant. give me the entire mango for god sake
