I've been growing a large variety of Mangoes for 15yrs + from Mangoes that are store bought, & large & delicious. And from many Countries. And I start the mango seed in water (like growing an avocado) then transfer to a 1gal pot when 4-6"... & into a larger pot. And at about 2yrs into the ground. I prefer the rounder large mango, over the manila yellow oblong mangoes, & have both.
I labeled them as they were tagged from mkrts, & only used the best flavored fruit.
Some names tagged are Amanda Panda, Splendid, Happy, Keit, & Keith, & many others. Also several varieties of the Manilla mangoe.. which are very large, & sweet and oblong shaped yellow mangoes.
These seed grown mangoes start fruiting in 4 yrs, my experience. I save my fruits seeds that have cross-polinated & have some of these growing in the ground, & blooming now also.
I plant them all about 5ft apart, & weed out any tree not producing good tasting fruit.
I have one round very large mango 2lbs+ that is soo delicious. And this tree has very thick large oval shiny leaves, & is my fav. This is going to be a very large tree, & stands out from all my other trees. And is loaded with fruit.
And.. Mangoes are one of the most nutricious fruits we can eat.
I live in southern Califorinia, about a 15 min drive from Malibu Beach, near Los Angeles.
I save the seeds from my tree's, & give them to friends, with instructions with how easy they are to grow.
The mangoes in the markets the last few yrs are horrible.. usually Tommy (Atkins) the worst variety ever... total garbage.
And I also like to graft several varities of mangoes, & other fruit trees (apricot, peach, plum, nectarine, cherry, & various varieties, etc) onto One main Tree. Its fun being Creative, & growing my own varieties. ❤😊❤

Paul have you considered a video ranking of the “newer”mango varieties coming out of the zill mango project perhaps a collaboration with Alex from tropical acres? I keep seeing sweet tart, orange sherbert, sugarloaf, pineapple pleasure but am curious how m4/ others stack up. Thanks

Let us know if you buy a tree, that will tell us how good it is..its still a small mango, but might be dynamite

Do you think it’s black spot/anthractnose resistant grown inland? They look good on his tree but they’re near the coast and probably spray right?

I remember as a litlte boy in Apalit, Pampanga, Philippines in the 40's, there was a small mango, real sweet. I don't remember the name something like sille. We picked them and wait to ripe. when ripe, then we beat it and liquified, punched a hole at the tip and sucked the honey -like delicious mess. I wonder if it was one of the dozens of mangoes from the Philippines and India that were developed at the Univ of FLorida IFAS, Gainseville, FL

You're telling us that Zill nursery is now selling trees to the general public (retail) and no longer just wholesale?

@@bidenisasnake9932 I know it's not true so it's irresponsible to tell viewers to get your trees from Zill.

they are selling and offering fruit to the public not the tree. The tree has to be bought buy a nursery who sells their trees

It seems that mango is from an Indian variety. Good to munch like an apple when semi ripe, taste like trash when fully ripe.

My Zill trees produce just fine. My M4 is great. Ice Cream in not the best producer but one of the best mangos out there.

The best tasting varieties in the world come from zill. Every variety has its own flavor and production habit. Lol this comment makes no sense. Icecream isn't a zill variety either that one came from Trinidad & Maurice Kong brought it to the world

M-4 is super productive for me but alternates years. It's amazing and late. Ice Cream is from Tobago. Not a Zill variety
