I wish they would make some power or preamp that goes with the amp plugins with all the tubes used in most of the amps, which could be selected according to the amp models.i wish they could solve the problem of amp sims not being able to push like a real tube amp n provide good amount of headroom.
Woke up this morning with the email from PA that there is a new diezel plugin to check out for free! I had a great audio breakfast with the new tracks of my actual mix running through it! Awesome AMP SIM!
One of these days I will own a physical VH4. Such a nice and truly metal sound. So many great amps but I like this sort of tone. It can be unassuming or totally tear the place up. Great as always
Recently purchased the real deal ! And it’s f&$kn incredible. As far as this plug in goes....Ola you made it sound pretty darn close, definitely a good purchase if you can’t afford the real thing 👍
Downloaded the trial. So far I think it could have some pretty usable tones. I'm not floored by it yet, but I'm gonna give it the two weeks. Your assessment of the low-end is spot on. Pretty unique.
I grew up on New Wave music, so I actually love solid-state clean amps, and that’s what I primarily use. They’re super clean, so you can get exactly what you want out of them without worrying about how changing the gain is going to affect your tone, which makes it really nice if you’re addicted to weird pedals and rely on them for your tone. When I want something mean sounding, I use fuzz. But my wife really likes the metal stuff, and even though she is in no way a tone connesuire, she loves the sound of this amp. So once it comes back one sale, guess what my next PA purchase will be??
Man, I remember there being one of these monsters used in a Guitar Center close to my place. The temptation was there for sure, but I just didn't have the money, nor did I really have the living space for this LOUD BEAST of an amp. I could have gotten a Torpedo Captor, sure, but that was just even more money I didn't have. So... missed opportunities, I guess. C'est la vie.
I think my dream amp would be Gain I from the Victory Kraken and the third channel from the Diezel VH4, in a small, tasteful lunchbox format. EL34 or KT77 power section.
I own a diezel. And i have to say this nails the general tone of each channel, just the frequency sweeps are much wider on the real deal. And the dynamics are insane on a vh4 and its just very difficult to replicate digitally. It has the ripping sound of a solid state amp with the balls of a tube amp.
🤘🏼VH4 sounds awesome, yeah! Did you check out the Synergy VH4 module? Haha so funny to read all these “I’m fiiiirssst!”-comments above mine... haha. PS: shocked to realize you are a 1 and 3 clap-er kinda guy 😳😳😳
This sounds really good and love the options. I have the Mercuriall Triaxis plugi and love it. however, if I were to get one more, I would love a plugin version of the Fryette/VHT Sig X or Ultra Lead!!!
EVERTUNE & SOLAR S1.7PB QUESTIONS!!!! Is it difficult to change tunings with an Evertune bridge, like for example C standard to D standard? I know you have a video where you demonstrate how to change from a drop to standard, but I'm talking for a completely different tuning, taking into account the string gauge etc. Plus, if you quickly change from drop to standard, will the top string still be perfectly in tune always? And also about Evertune, are all of the saddles for each string connected to each other and affect the other strings like on a standard bridge or do they work completely separately? SOLAR S1.7PB Could you please explain the 5 way blade switching on the pickups for that model? And is it possible to coil-tap it? Thanks!
petarserafimov i can help you with the 5 blade part. To bypass the whole thing with coil tap the 5 blade switch essentially goes from full bridge to single bridge to dual humbuckers to single neck to full neck.
The putney one has a little bit more mids, but it's rather subtle. Both are great in their ways. The PA one is more versatile on the amp itself, the putney one has also effects and pedals available as well as 4 other amps. To me the PA version sounded just a little bit more..natural but that is fully subjective
Sounds great! Not a big fan of virtual gear - bit oldschool I suppose 😜 - but I do like the tone you were aiming for! Useful in a studio obviously and easier on the wallet than the real thing, but, knowing that you do prefer proper tube amps, would you rely on it on stage?... Thanks for testing shit Ola - you're a valuable source of info to us lesser mortals 🤘😎🤘
@@felipepassoni4301 No one will hear you if it's not amplified.Even if you're use cab emulation via IR you still need an FRFR amp of some sort. But most guitar players prefer "Amp in the room" with actual guitar speakers on stage.
Maybe is a silly question.. but I love this amp and this plugin (I have it of course) and I want something that sound similar to this. In your experience have you found something that is a good and cheap alternative to this monster? Anyway.. thank you for this and all your precious videos! Stay rock mate!
Hi Ola, greetings from France ! I got a question for you... I did it ! I bought a Scralett Focusbite (not sure of the name ;p )It's my first step in the computer music thing. I have a few projects i want to record. Now what do I do ? How do i work with this thing ? Thanks for your funny AND informative vids !
I picked up the Wil Putney take on the VH4, and doing the A/B test, I'm having a hard time finding striking differences between the two. In most hot-take cases, I prefer Putney's plugin . I do like all the IR's that come with this though, I think the ability to really dig into the amp head's settings will see me a changing preference toward this in the long run. It's pretty nice that they give you a 2 week span to dive into it. What do you guys think?
Shane Kelly I also own the Will Putney suite and I don't really hear any differences with this either, but I think this one is more for everything rather than just heavy metal, the cleanest I can get with the Diezel in the Will Putney suite is comparable to a slightly driven Plexi whereas this has all four channels.
It sounds ok. I can’t picture it replacing the tones of the songs I’m thinking of. It would just sound like a cheap low budget metal band. I don’t know how much it costs. I don’t think I’d use it if I had a nice tube/solid state with a decent microphone. It’s not bad but it’s not great either.
The price should be showing on the coming days, it's part of Plugin Alliance's marketing policy, not really a fan of that either, but their plugins are amazing and they're very generous towards the people that have bought many plugins of theirs. I'll agree though, it's very discouraging to try out their plug-ins, like them, and then see that you won't be able to afford them :(
The first song is My Grief My Sorrow from Feared album Synder.
Awesome sound as always, can You try diezel vh4 pedal?
Thanks Ola for the video!
"I cannot chug"
5 seconds later......
Chug, chug, chug 🤘
so much clarity and yet heavy as balls, my oh my

Perfect for Tool covers.
I love how the neon solar guitar in the background looks like a cable plugging into the Diezel
We've entered a golden age of amp sim VSTs.
Now we only need a VHT (Fryette) amp sim for our balls to grow monstrous.

I feel like investing in these plugins are just going to make me want the real thing. Especially a Diezel amp.
