I would like to know about the history of the land development (residential housing) around this lake. Was this mostly rural farmland 15+ years ago? How far away is the closest Walmart? Is there a stream that feeds into this lake with runoff from residential developments? I suppose all these surrounding housing developments have a public utility sewer system that eventually drains into a water treatment plant located near a river or into a main tributary that feeds into one?
Most houses around it were built in the early 2000’s with the exception of the 5 new houses. Been a lake here for over 80 years, the cabin was built in 1946 and used as a fish camp and party house. The driveway has changed locations due to the early 2000 development and the current driveway goes through the old cove so they added a culvert there. Water typically trickles out because it’s a low area behind someone’s house. All the houses around are on septic and are well away to be able to contaminate the pond. That doesn’t mean the water isn’t coming in after it’s traveled through the soil and has been filtered. There are no streams but there are 2 road culverts that feed it when it rains. The neighborhood drainage goes to another pond nearby. The old man that bought it in the 40s passed away in the 2000s, his son inherited it and that was the end of it. Neglect got the best of it. Going to put some through the Fish condos soon
MM77 Approved 👍🏼 👍🏼
I bet you can get away without mowing the dam until early spring. Also, maybe plant a row of those arborvitae’s on the fence line by the road? Out of sight, out of mind!
Going to let it fill in as much as possible. That's Rye coming up now, the mix has tall fescue and Bermuda in it too, which is going to stay dormant until the weather warms up.
i watch on AppleTV connected to a large LG TV. good video quality. You are correct, your video links don’t show up where you are pointing.
That and I just found out that YT limits the amount of links you can add so a lot of links weren't there. oops
Have you been watering your transplanted oak tree every day?
Trying to
Muskrat love by the Captain Tennille I pretty sure this song came out 5 decades ago.
ha
Looking awesome. What is fill rate now? 😊😊😊😊😊 muskrats are a pain. 😢😢😢😢
At this rate roughly 3-4" week with very minimal precipitation. Those little buggers gotta go
That figures out to be a lot of water. 1" of water on 1 acre amounts to 27000 gal. So 27,000 X 3" X 8 acres =648,000 gal of water just from springs!!!
Lots on water!! We'll measure flow rate once water starts trickling through the overflow
Brush Comando, what did the lake look like when you moved in ?
Was it a different size / shape back then.
I know you had to create the temporary dam after the main dam broke, just wondered what it was like when you first moved there
@@BillyNoMates1974 it’s about the same size and shape now as it was pre 2017. Only change was that I built banks around those houses - I made a video (not that great) - this is what it looked like when I bought it in 2021 and first built the temp pond: ua-cam.com/video/BONgDNHstV4/v-deo.htmlsi=XjMS9AehanXxl4Hz
@@BrushCommando brillaint. thanks for answering. i will check it out
The only thing that spoils the view is all the chemtrails in the sky
Did you fix the saw head on the excavator?
Haven’t messed with it
Gravel beds for fish spawning beds.
Pea gravel coming soon!
Are you faithfully watering the transplanted tree???
@@sagebrushnw485 try to
cool
Cool, What part on NC are you in?
The Sandhills area, about an hour south of Raleigh.
@@BrushCommando I'm just north of Raleigh . Love your pond build . Lets go fishing :-)
@@btpearce nice! Definitely going to take everyone on fishing trips and boat rides once it’s full lol
go back out with the Argo, this time use a weed whacker with a blade on it, cut everything off below the surface.
Tempting but we'll leave it for duck habitat, for now.
Put some baby fishes in it
We will here soon. The temporary pond was LOADED with fish and most all of them survived the expansion.
Cattle will ruin the banks ,bad choice get 🐐
Going to have to do some research on what would be best out there. Might have to fence off the banks.
hopefully iron and not neighbors sceptic field.
We have high iron levels in the area. There's no risk of contamination due to the distances of the fields from the body of water.
