Yes, the Celt is a variety of stone axe head. The earliest axe heads had a full groove all the way around for hafting during the Archaic period. 3/4 grooved Axes became the style, and later into the Woodland/Mississippian period, Ungrooved (Celts/Adze) became the style. We actually have grooved axes here as well. The non grooved pieces are referred to as Celts or Adzes depending on their shape. Not exactly sure on why they are called that however.
I live in Central Ohio and loosing thousands of acres of prime artifact hunting and historical preservation to Amazon, Facebook and Google and their going to tell me how Carbon neutral they will be. Have you seen the electrical grid that supports this lie? I am disgusted.

I will teach you how to find an angry bird...yes they do exist ...I have the only one on UA-cam or willing to even show
Thank you!
In America it is called a celt in Europe it would be called an axe. Why is it called a celt?
We actually have grooved axes here as well. The non grooved pieces are referred to as Celts or Adzes depending on their shape. Not exactly sure on why they are called that however.

You don't have ANY subscribers, honey. I love Arrowhead hunting that's all. No big deal!

I live in Central Ohio and loosing thousands of acres of prime artifact hunting and historical preservation to Amazon, Facebook and Google and their going to tell me how Carbon neutral they will be. Have you seen the electrical grid that supports this lie? I am disgusted.
I’m sorry Greg. Unfortunately these mega giants are eating up exceptional amounts of real estate and swallowing prehistoric sites daily. It’s very sad indeed. Not to mention housing developments, mall, parking lots, ect….
