After the daily bombardment of media, social media, emails, texts, and angry politics...coming here just to listen is an opportunity to reconnect to our higher mind and get centered. And to tie in multiple cultures respectfully and intellectually, man it's just a great gift. Thanks.
I Agree! I come to this channel for martial arts stuff but I stay for the philosophy talks. Coach zahabi makes it very easily digestible for an uneducated mouth breather like me to understand.
Dude you have to do a philosophy channel! or a crash course? You enjoy talking about this and I enjoy learning Thanks for giving us your time brother You are a top man Firas, thanks for putting me onto Imam al-Ghazali! His work is amazing
yes! firas talking with danaher about bjj and philosophy and fighting for like an hours or two would be amazing. especially if its live chat and danaher could answer questions too.
Jordan Peterson changed my life but I've realised too that he has a very Euro-centric view. Thanks for bringing it up, I hope I can listen to you two talk some day.
Have been watching your channel for a long time man. I love your work Firas. May Allah bless you and your family. Very knowledgeable and great wisdom man, i love it. Personally, i found this one of the best AMA sessions. Especially the philosophical part.
Firas, I absolutely love and enjoy the philosophy material you share in your videos and podcast! I've been reading and studying philosophy for about 2 years and would pay for a philosophy podcast/show you would make! Great work! Keep it up! Also you're never boring, your method of delivery is very engaging and captivating despite the complexity and rigidness of the philosophical/historical material you mention.
Thank you again bro for yet again a very usefull and insightfull AMA session... May Allah/God protect you your family and keep elevating you to higher levels inshaallah Take care man 👊
LOVE the philosophy talk! This is part of why we love listening to you speak about MMA and other things as well. Please don't shy away from the philosophy talk thinking you may bore us. We love it.
Thanks for the vid Coach. I actually enjoy your philosophical discussions more than your fighting ones. The books you recommended such as 7 habits and Joel Fuhrman's have been a great help. What are some business books youd recommend
I've always been frustrated by what I hear Sam Harris and Jordan Peterson say about Islam. They are very intelligent human beings and carry massive followings, it's honestly sad to see. Thank you for being the intelligent voice and model representative for our brothers and sisters Coach. Coming from Baraachit in south Lebanon, it makes me feel immensely proud.
Hearing Sam Harris talk about war casualtys in the middle east orchastreted by the US is the most terrible and ignorant thing Ive ever heard such an intelligent man say. There is a video comparing Abby Martin and Sam Harris and offcourse Sam comes up on top between those two. But there you can see a lot of the tricks he is playing in justifying the casualties concept by simply accepting the whole war in Irak and Afghanistan was needed beyond discussion and that all the damage that comes with it is also automaticly justified.
Always wish that I could. Because how I often see islam practiced isn't object-able by any means, most commonly a positive aspect of said people's live. But there is still many passages in the koran that are so highly unethical, almost downright evil. And even if most would never practice those, I still can't support a theologie build on such (partly, almost negligibly small part of) rhetoric. And I just wish those could be re-written, the wrongs denounced, without those weird cruel fringe passages. It would take away such a huge base on which the growing bigotry and nationalistic movements in our European countries are thriving right now.
Maybe so, but Zahabi dropped the ball on Islam here. Classic obfuscation techniques in play. I think Firas is a great teacher and armchair philosopher, but everyone has a weakness and this is clearly his Achilles heel.
I would love an entire podcast doing a preview of the upcoming ufc card, this one is stacked and it would have been great to hear Firas talk about all the fights
Neil deGrasse Tyson, now you are in my arena if you throw a punch you may get knocked out ... you made me laugh Firas ... good one ! Keep it up .. always fun to listen to you talking !
@@justbreathe8835 Well, no, if you compare it to Europe or Canada, but if you compare it to the 40°C we get it during summer well than 15°C is pretty darn cold, even more so if you factor in the fact our houses do not have double glazing nor central heating. Most of my European friends that came to visit said you suffer more with cold in Brazil than in Europe because of that. Crazy but true!

Hi Firas thanks for this content I watch ur vid about training when u don't have time I also have that prob but I am only striker k1 fighter wanna be pro one day and I only train 2 hours daily that's my max is it enough if I know how to use it
I think Ngannou smashes through jones, I also don't think Jones will go to heavyweight while Ngannou is there, for that very reason. Jones is reluctant to fight DC at heavyweight too, because of the extra advantages he will have there.
Jones has huge advantages at light heavyweight due to his length and height, but that won't be the same at heavyweight against the likes of Ngannou.. Maybe if he bulked up on picograms he could out wrestle and submit Nganou, but I doubt he would want to strike with Nganou unless he wants a nice sleep.
Sustained forward pressure being defensively minded beats Ngannou. Power punchers are usually less dangerous as the fight goes on. Fighters so far either don’t respect his power or get nervous and make mistakes
@tristar gym what’s the ideal mma career one like garbrandt where he had 10 fights and was world champ or guys like Lionheart Smith who had 10+ losses b4 ufc I always wondered this And Talented guys like Melvin guillard what would his ceiling have been if he’d been harnessed like Cody until fully ready
Firas, you don't have to constantly remind us how hard it is to understand what you love to study. We wouldn't have clicked on the vid if we never desired to understand what you're saying....
What are your thoughts on Intermittent Fasting for BJJ guys? Also, I am 42 years old and roughly 48 pounds overweight right now and have been in martial arts for 38 years.
Mr. Zahabi I do not speak or Arabic, how would I study these philosophers and histories you speak of? Any English translations you could recommend other than the works by Frank Griffel?
Very interesting video as always, coach. Went a bit off the rails towards the end though. Is it just me, or did I detect a bit of taqiyya going on there? A rhetorical question of course, as an answer to the positive would be paradoxical. :D
Bill nye has a degree in mechanical engineering,so yes he is knowledgeable about science due to the fact that you need to understand physics and mathematics in order to become an engineer
Philosophy of science is not = science. Many scientists are surprisingly ignorant when it comes to having a basic understanding of the philosophical foundations of science. I don't know about Bill Nye though.
Dawkins has entire movies about atheism and is frequently asked what he thinks the meaning of life is and what he expects in death he's very clear on his position I believe I've actually spoke with you about this

If you did a podcast that focused solely on philosophy I’d listen to every episode. Fantastic stuff.
I Agree! I come to this channel for martial arts stuff but I stay for the philosophy talks. Coach zahabi makes it very easily digestible for an uneducated mouth breather like me to understand.
Man this was my favorite ever podcast. Could you maybe begin a separate series that focuses on philosophy?

You are a top man Firas, thanks for putting me onto Imam al-Ghazali! His work is amazing
Please more stuff on Philosophy I find it fascinating and you're amazing in your analysis
please bring John Danaher on your podcast?
Good thinking?
yes! firas talking with danaher about bjj and philosophy and fighting for like an hours or two would be amazing. especially if its live chat and danaher could answer questions too.
Thanks Firas. There is always something I learn in every podcast.
Much appreciated for giving tools for the Mind, Body and Soul! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

@Meatball Molly How does he entertain? All he does is talk. Same shit he did 3 yrs ago about pretty much the same things
could be awesome to see thoose two talk
Coach Frias dropping philosophical and historical knowledge. It’s awesome! Thanks for responding to my question btw!
Hey Mr. Zahabi, I really enjoyed this, thank you very much. I'd love to hear you talk more about philosophy and religion.

Boosh! Loved ending on philosophy
Being a UFC fan has taking me down very interesting roads having nothing to do with the UFC. Mainly podcast, comedy and philosophy.
The first book mentioned is: Ḥayy Ibn Yaqẓān by Ibn Tufail
Lol the first book he drops is a hyperobscure one!

Thank you for the philosophy. Very interesting
Coach, I read and enjoyed "Gorgias" at your recommendation from an earlier episode. Thanks for all of the great ideas and content!
You are an admirable person, thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience
Amazing podcast though..
LOVE the philosophy talk! This is part of why we love listening to you speak about MMA and other things as well. Please don't shy away from the philosophy talk thinking you may bore us. We love it.
I love when Firas talks philosophy!
M. Zahabi vs Sam Harris in a Joe Rogan podcast. That would be great and Harris would do this for free. Coach, I love your podcast. Thank you!
Peter Gallagher No Rogan needed. He would add nothing to the conversation and would only play defense for Sam Harris’ positions.
great idea
why not get Jordan Peterson and Eric Weinstein there too and see what they come up with
What about an mma match?
Gr8 episode !! Lot to think about
Please go back on jre, one of my fave podcasts ever

Mr. Zahabi, much respect and admiration.

Ngannou will have his day... after DC leaves. And if a couple LHWs don't go up. I dont see Ngannou beating a bulked up Jones for example.
I think dc is a easier fight than stipe #2 for him. Dc doesn't have as educated jab and doesn't switch up the striking into takedowns as well.
