@@gunmetal3104 I havent seen the video but here goes. In Islam the main problem with such sports is that it encourages attacking the face - the identity, dignity and honour of people lie in here so it's considered extremely bad to make bleed people's faces. Have a good one.
@IFFI But bruva, the thing is the relevant hadiths does not contain any explicit statement to say striking face is not allowed, but rather should be avoided out of respect, making it makruh rather than haram. Furthermore, look at Sahih Muslim 4131 - this contradicts all the hadiths on hitting the face
@Zaid Shakil Why does it not contradict anything? It clearly contradicts the second paragraph (tafsir) you presented, because the criminals' eyes were gauged out. I know it was for punishment, but if striking the face is haram (explained by the tafsir you mentioned), then why did our Prophet SAW do this, when there are obviously other ways and that the Quran doesn't specifically say to do this action? Perhaps it seems like you are just trying to justify reasons to ensure this remains haram. Even if I give you the benefit of the doubt, the hadiths (e.g the last one you presented), does not explicitly state it's forbidden, as I've stated before. Rather it just states the face should be respected and avoided, thus making it makruh?

When will people understand that its easier to take someone down to the ground then it is to knock em out. Most MMA fights are 90 percent stand up. Khabib has found a niche into getting people down to the ground and fighting them there.
The benefits of MMA outweigh the negatives, and the Sahaba actually wrestled, in all forms, when used professionally there is nothing haram about it, especially since self-defense is sunnah.
This guy is on another level. He’s my man. Intelligent and knowledgeable. I am a new fan to him. Thank you for the information. I know GSP also fasts too.

30:00 self defense is fine... but dont justify two men fighting one another... where they can become brain dead, bruised, seriously harmed, though its watched under a referee the harms and dangers of fighting and striking is very very dangerous, people are putting their lives on the line every time they get in the ring... self defense and teaching it is fine so long as there is no striking to the face... to the body no problem and wrestling is from the sunnah... but fighting and striking to the face is out right haram!
what he is saying that the self defense that you are talking about would not be the effective self defence without sparring and seeing mistakes to refine them
@TheMrEpicsounds i don't fight but i do boxing and i sparr with my brothet and my brother entwrs amateurs championships but it is all light sparring And now to be honest i was just making the situation clear for the brother And so we should w8 the muftis to see the matter from this perspespective that he made
@TheMrEpicsounds the companions of the prophet didn't hit the sword und cut there hands to train sword fighting. They ruled the world and they were every good fighters without hurting each other in there training. And in our time we don't need MMA in a war. Give me a gun and I beat every MMA fighter without any problem.
HII So go tell the millions of Muslim kids out there who watch khabib and other Muslim fighters and draw inspiration from them, and start training and gain confidence both physically and mentally that the sport that they love is haram and they should stop doing it
Of course it's haram anything hitting someone for no reason whether it's Muslim nor not, the fighters are aware of that, but that does not mean who does this haram it's not a Muslim. Everyone will be judged for his Own deeds.
@@Randomhandlename and you brother just became from those ignorants who blatantly give his opinion fatwas considering this sport a suicide!!! Do you know that if you pressure yourself to much in football your heart will beat faster and it may result in stopping your heart from beating so judging by your fatwa football is also considered suicide. Yes khabib may burn in hell for his OWN deads and the sport is haram but it does not make you disbeliever. Same as stealing or zina.
@@Randomhandlename I know the hadith you just not find the right place to put it into the real issue. Bc you are saying if I go to street fight and fight someone it's like commiting suicide Brother givetit a second opinion you are not okay with your brain. I have not heard a single sheikh giving this kind of fatwa, every sheikh I listen to said that this is haram not a suicide haram please don't spread false fatwas because nobody says this other than you. Stop giving blatantly fatwas. Just because there is hadith doesn't mean you can put it into NY situation and give fatwa out of it. REFLECT because you art going to be held account for this on judgement day and you haven't read a single book about giving fatwas but you dare to give this kind of serious fatwa. It's unbelievable the young these days.
It ISN'T just about the injuries sustained in matches (which might as well be inconsequential as he says) , it's about the repeated head trauma that contact sports players can sustain! Most professional boxers have some degree of brain damage, even if they don't exhibit symptoms just yet. MMA just hasn't been looked at as much as boxing, due to it being new and current practicioners just haven't aged enough yet. I really dislike this sugar coating when people's lives and wellbeing may be at risk. Also, I agree that we can't always know what's good for self defense unless we actually try it out, but there better ways for us to know.
Sparring is a legit way to know what works and what doesn't, fighting until someone is so injured to the extent of not being able to continue the fight or until someone is KO'd, (and that happens A LOT in professional fighting), and REPEATED max-power blows to the head are common place and encouraged, you can get similar results without having devastating effects on people's future lives...that is if the intent is actually to learn more about self defense and not for the fame or fortune. I love martial arts, but not the professional life of it where people are affected in horrible ways and no light is shed on what happens to them later on in their lives
That is simply not true. As for brain injury boxing is far more dangerous cause youre limited to head and body, while MMA rules allows all other targets. Time has nothing to do with it, like u proposed. And if u listened you would understand, instead trying to score points on matter. There isnt any other way to figure out if something works than to compete. Sparring is not enough and I´ll give you an example that you can not refute. There is a lot of traditional martial arts. They all learn and spar but they dont compete. Most of them dont work today. Wrestling, jiu-juitsu, boxing, muay thai, kick boxing and the rest of competitive martial arts work, why? Because they compete. And very rare fights are to the extreme unlike a picture youre trying to paint. There is nothing wrong with beeing famous and earning money, Look at Khabib example of beeing known world wide, earning money and what he does with it, similar with his last opponent Poirier. You are really trying to paint picture to justifiy your points making us look at it, as if its truth, which it isnt.
cmmon Firas, brother Khabib has been in such gullitoines since his pre ufc fights and is good enough to get out of them, khabib is awsm off his back too
As an assistant imam and youth director, I wish some knowledgeable brothers who understand MMA from the younger generations would legit get together and sit down with some muftis / ulema and hash out ALL the details that Firas brought up post 29:33. I've been doing MMA on and off since 2005 and it amazes me that the ulema disregard this issue without any regard to ijtihad PERTAINING to the circumstances and background/maqsad of the hadith on hitting the face. A CONFRONTATION+FIGHT broke out, the people were NOT training with each other to better their combat skills when the prophet ﷺ made that statement. Additionally, the ulema in the Caucuses, from what we see, do not prohibit this sport on these grounds: MMA fosters brotherhood, RUJOOLAH (MANHOOD which is missing from the ummah), bravery, etc. Men are weak these days...imitating women with their skinny jeans-lookin earthworm bodies while women are lifting, gettin swole, and enduring more TRT than brock lesnar. Im digressing but...fr, brothers need to FULLY explain MMA to ulema willing to hear the situation out for a proper fatwa.
May Allah forgive me if I am in ignorance for saying this. But I feel like I've noticed that the ulema & scholars are beginning to have less & less knowledge or understanding of practical modern day life and practices, which is then directly getting in the way of their ability to properly apply usool & rulings to these actions. The ulema who are experts on the matters of fiqh & shariah, do not always have enough knowledge on their own to make rulings in all cases. For example a mufti can't appropriately make a ruling concerning a medical field which they don't understand at all and so they would need enter some discourse or shura with a medical expert in order to learn the appropriate context by which to apply their knowledge of shariah. The same applies here and in many other areas of our complex societies. It shouldn't be a radical idea that the ulema should be humble enough to seek consultation from experts of a field which they are passing fatwa on. I sincerely hope my experiences have been wrong and seek forgiveness from Allah if I've painted many modern day scholars in a negative light.
The comment about the sport being different than the conflict talked about in the haddithe is pure conjecture. Hitting in the face is haram as it is proven by another haddithe that says not to hit an animal in the face. Hijab made a good point about permanent Damajj done. Look at the boxers that have permanent damage from years of head blows. Brother need to find another way to make a living.
Such an amazing guy Zahabi! But it makes me sad to see people commenting „like to listen to him even tho I’m not a muslim“ What does that even mean? It was a podcast with 90% content outside of religion, so what does that have to do if your Muslim or not wether you like Zahabi?
It's refreshing to hear Firas say "look if the Muftis say it is haram, i accept it is haram". This is despite his expertise in the field. Although, I don't think his stance on a ketogenic diet is informed/accurate. He was asked and he gave his opinion but there are many athletes that stay in ketosis without consuming pre-workout carbohydrates, especially endurance athletes. If anyone is interested check out Thomas Delauer's or Dr Berg's youtube channels. Their focus is on fasting/ketosis so his knowledge is much more specialised.

Mashallah brothers you guys are a inspiration to muslims tabarak allah
Is Islam Machachev still on PEDS?
Too many teasers. Definitely will be listening to it now. Allah bless you.
Our contemporary mufties need to listen from 30:00 to 43:23 so that they can give a proper Fatwa on this matter.
Eban Takie They don't. With all due respect but Firas is just making up his own Fatwa and arguing in his own favor. Basically, following his one desire unfortunately. If something is wrong and you are weak just admit it instead of whitewashing.
@IFFI im not muslim so i dont know wats wrong about a professional contest between two respectful participants? A fight is different just based off of emotion. This guy may have worded his argument wrong but his intentions were still clear and pure.
@@gunmetal3104
I havent seen the video but here goes.
What a great interview. Thank God.
I learned a lot . thank you 2 great people.
I loved this chat , was captivated by ever word. will defiantly what the next one.
dude if i ever had a trainer i would want it to be a guy like him. just look up his story, he completely built himself up on his own and he further improved his craft further and further more. he continuously is on the grind. this will come one day when an unsuspecting individual who will go and train in a gym only to be caught by the eye of an old fires. just imagine what a kind of beast, an old fires with years of accumulating knowledge and experience can make 😂

Honestly as a woman that is not into fitness (though I do go to the gym, only because it helps me psychology) and watching sparring matches I enjoyed this so much. I now know what to do to stay on the leaner side and what to eat before I do my morning exercise at the gym.
Watching your son with his mouth wide open staring at the screen. I'm like holy heck getting him this interested in anything is impossible. Wonderful conversation gentlmen.
It is always a treat listening to Coach Firas Zahabi
When will people understand that its easier to take someone down to the ground then it is to knock em out. Most MMA fights are 90 percent stand up. Khabib has found a niche into getting people down to the ground and fighting them there.
Massive respect for your guest. What a wonderful human being
Gsp vs khabib is going to be the best fight in ufc history ever
Great episode, always looking forward to a Firas podcast!
Best podcast I’ve heard so far, firas zahabi is awesome
The benefits of MMA outweigh the negatives, and the Sahaba actually wrestled, in all forms, when used professionally there is nothing haram about it, especially since self-defense is sunnah.
MMA (prize fighting) is NOT self defense.
Wrestling is not the same as Jui Jitsu/Boxing etc.
@@khoyrulislam wrestling is the same as ju jitsu IN THE SENSE THAT there is NO STRIKING INVOLVED, ju jitsu is ok
MMA is definitely not wrestling
Wrestling is acceptable, MMA is not. Most muftis claim mma is haram.
Who are you to say what is Haram and what is not?
This guy is on another level. He’s my man. Intelligent and knowledgeable. I am a new fan to him. Thank you for the information. I know GSP also fasts too.

Mashaallah very interesting and engaging discourse between the two brothers! Brother firas has some very interesting views, which i totally agree with. This is one of the finest interviews from an mma coach i seen thus far. Inshaallah the broski firas can set up a gym here in london. The government should invest in these kinda people to help aliviate the issues we have in the youth today. The discipline and values sports in general promote are the foundations of success in many aspects of life. May the almighty Allah swt bless you brothers, may he also guide us all!
Love both of you guys. Could listen to this all day long, please more of these shows please brothers 😺

Firas zahabi the Joe ROGAN interview amazing between the best interview I've seen in my life. No disrespect brother hijab 😊😊😊
We need more of this! Absolutely loved it!
30:00 self defense is fine... but dont justify two men fighting one another... where they can become brain dead, bruised, seriously harmed, though its watched under a referee the harms and dangers of fighting and striking is very very dangerous, people are putting their lives on the line every time they get in the ring...
self defense and teaching it is fine so long as there is no striking to the face... to the body no problem and wrestling is from the sunnah... but fighting and striking to the face is out right haram!
what he is saying that the self defense that you are talking about would not be the effective self defence without sparring and seeing mistakes to refine them
@TheMrEpicsounds i don't fight but i do boxing and i sparr with my brothet and my brother entwrs amateurs championships but it is all light sparring
And now to be honest i was just making the situation clear for the brother
And so we should w8 the muftis to see the matter from this perspespective that he made
@TheMrEpicsounds the companions of the prophet didn't hit the sword und cut there hands to train sword fighting. They ruled the world and they were every good fighters without hurting each other in there training. And in our time we don't need MMA in a war. Give me a gun and I beat every MMA fighter without any problem.
You can say the same thing for rugby and American football. So are they haraam sports?
HII So go tell the millions of Muslim kids out there who watch khabib and other Muslim fighters and draw inspiration from them, and start training and gain confidence both physically and mentally that the sport that they love is haram and they should stop doing it
Firas Zahabi is brilliant. Great interview👍

JazakAllah khaiyran for this amazing discussion!

Firas is amazing ! He's just that Real Master that any student would wish to have !
Also, I agree that we can't always know what's good for self defense unless we actually try it out, but there better ways for us to know.
tigerheaddude if there are better ways then please do list them
Sparring is a legit way to know what works and what doesn't, fighting until someone is so injured to the extent of not being able to continue the fight or until someone is KO'd, (and that happens A LOT in professional fighting), and REPEATED max-power blows to the head are common place and encouraged, you can get similar results without having devastating effects on people's future lives...that is if the intent is actually to learn more about self defense and not for the fame or fortune.
Like khabib said “it doesn’t matter how tall they are, once I’m on top I’m the tall guy”
cmmon Firas, brother Khabib has been in such gullitoines since his pre ufc fights and is good enough to get out of them, khabib is awsm off his back too

True

But it makes me sad to see people commenting „like to listen to him even tho I’m not a muslim“
What does that even mean?
@Tom Edwards fasting is one of the pillars of islam
