Thanks to Casio Oz for another World Exclusive! These new GA-B-2100s have the features many people have been asking for since the original was launched back in 2019:- Tough Solar and Bluetooth. I think that solar is the big draw here, but Bluetooth actually makes a lot of sense for one of these, especially as they are likely to last for decades. The all black is the sexy model, the yellow is the fun oen for summer and for those that need a bit more legibility. Cheers, Jody
I was a Casio dealer in 1979 and I'm glad to see that they are thriving and still producing innovative models. Although I do own other watches, my daily wearer is still a Casio.

Mine is currently the Casio Databank CA-53W from Back to the Future 2
71 this year and yellow is the one I ordered!!! So, one month later and I need to issue a public service warning! I had not owned a Casio, except for an ancient Pro-Trek that lives on the bedside table, still running and keeping up with the atomic clock almost 20 years now. I enjoyed this little CasiOak so much that I started looking at other G-Shocks. It wasn't too long before I bought a GWG2000 Mudmaster. So here's the warning. The new Solar + Bluetoot 'CasiOaks' should all be considered GATEWAY DRUGS and ENTRY POINTS into all things CASIO and G-SHOCK! I had forgotten just how much fun and how good these watches are! They've only gotten better!

I"ve been wearing the yellow one for at least two weeks now -- this video (and the one from Hodinkee) sold me on it. I haven't worn a Casio in 20 years - now I'm really enjoying it. Casio - if you're listening, give us more tough solar casioak models! Big thank you to JOMW. It even indirectly got my father to buy a Casio as well.
Does the yellow get dirty easily? I'm trying to decide between yellow or green.

Most of the gshocks I have had in the past were all multiband 5/6 and solar. I thought Bluetooth would be such a gimmick until I tried it out. With Bluetooth available, you don’t need to worry about having the watch at just the right placement near a window or whatever. It’s synched with something that most of us have with us ALL THE TIME…our phones. And if you happen to lose your phone like I do every once in a while, the find my phone feature is pretty useful. I like this watch more than I thought I would
All quartz watches should be solar by now. Quartz + Solar is a great match, probably the lowest hassle watch type to own. Solar quartz can last up to 20 years too in my own personal experience.
Even simple battery quartz is low maintenance than your normal auto. My Vostok got destroyed in 7 months when I was winding the stupid rough movement.

I disagree. I have 3 Quartz solar watches and unless they’re kept in a bright area they will stop after a period of time. My 4 normal Quartz watches are completely unaffected by this. I will simply put a new battery in every couple of years. I won’t be buying any more Quartz Solar watches.
Can’t wait for extra colour variants. One of these solar/BT models with an AP bezel and rubber strap mod to match the colour of the hands/indices will be 🔥

Yep. I'll be getting a solar Casioak. The regular one had nice features, but didn't seem right to be confined by a $4 battery. Solar frees the watch to become immortal (kinda), and now absolutely sits on the god tier plinth.
@@blacktoothstavros2606 From price perspective, you can replace the battery of non-solar on 12 times for the price difference.
The capacitor of the Solar one costs 10 times. I guess they had to go Solar because of the battery drain of the Bluetooth feature.
@@Vikassy exactly, the solar battery is at least ten times more expensive than regular one. But having the Tough Solar on the dial is Cool 😅.
I am fan of coloured watches back in 70s a had one with a red face and white strap also it was a fibre class case I now have one orange and white casio I am like the yellow

The Yellow must be expected to be the big seller since it's US$10 more than the others. Oh yes, 63 years spinning around the Sun and the Yellow is my favorite.

Maybe it's just me but I prefer the atomic/solar without bluetooth. Not sure why. Glad to see they went solar though!

I'm with you on the yellow one Jody - and anyone who complains about your age can bugger off. I"m liking the yellow too - can't stand negative displays myself.
I have a bright yellow LeMans diver chrono and the wife wants to die when I wear it. I say it's my beach watch never mind that I live 7 hours from the nearest beach!

Can the modules be switched into some of the older cases? My favorite version is the original Japan only release in the mustard yellow color. The new yellow on these models is too bright.
You captured them perfectly. I gotta say though, using your phone to set your watch is silly.

Two things: Yellow! As long as it's a proper bright yellow and not the weird, mustardy yellow of the original :) The second is that I'm rapt that you can switch the date format around - brilliant.

I'm the same age as you and I agree. That yellow one is a cracker. It reminds me of the old Citizen Windsurfers I loved as a teenager and has the best legibility of them all. Not an immediate buy for me, but definitely on my Christmas list
I have 2 of the original versions. I have the black/white and the green version. I will probably pick up the black/grey version for the solar and Bluetooth. I am glad the have a positive display, even though the negative display looks cool it is hard to read.
Hi, like many watching this excellent video, I bought the first release battery powered 2100, and on seeing this new release, I did indeed buy just one more watch, and like you, I went for the yellow. What an absolute smashing watch, Bluetooth and solar are what clinched the deal, the phone app is brilliant, and a totally awesome watch. Many thanks for your review and look forward to many more.

I never was into the CasiOak until I got GA-2110ET-8AER as a birthday gift. I hate its negative LCD display, absolutely unreadable.
Finally Casio added solar! I'd need Multiband 6 too! Why the heck Bluetooth? It doesn't collect data (pedometer, heart rate,...). Why does it have Bluetooth then? It doesn't need to link to my phone.... I don't understand it. "find my phone" only works if phone and watch are max. about 10m apart from each other...
I wish they had lugs for after market watch bands .
That first dark one needs some brighter Lume on those hands and indices.
I own a GA2100, and I'm rather tempted by this new release....but I don't really want a bright yellow watch, and after getting used to my pleasantly legible white hands and indices model, I'm holding out until Casio releases a properly legible non-yellow color variant.
Only the yellow one that's legible. Why not have clearer indices on the other colours?
I was mighty tempted to pick up the Rubik's Cube CasiOak as a long-time speed Uber, but since I already have the black/white-hands CasiOak I couldn't justify getting another of the same watch. But dang it I might have to get an alternate color of this in the Solar now...

Really like my casioak, really happy with the old black one with the bright white markers and indices. Love the monochromatic high contrast look, until that comes or further fun colors come this will be a pass for me.
I just hope you can customize it like the og casioak

I have been looking for a Casioak ever since I saw your 2021 video, and have had no luck finding one like you showed. When I saw that a new, solar version was available I got quite excited, but then discovered that Casio seems to have decided that Casioaks that aren't fluorescent yellow should be stealth watches that are totally unreadable. Whatever happened to the idea that you should be able to see the hands and markers on a watch dial? I can easily not be able to read the time by just not wearing a watch ( I know, heresy).
I’ve got the original blacked out casioak and the legibility isn’t that bad once you get used to it. Eyeing up the new black solar casioak with the positive LCD next - looks like the perfect watch

The black bezel on the previous yellow version looks better than this. With the old one being slightly thinner, I doubt it would be possible to swap over the clothes.
Great review as always. Do you know what the letters stand for or mean below the Digital display, they are RCVD - REM - HND. 👍
RCVD= RECEIVED atomic time, REM= REMINDER you can set a reminder throu the casio app HND=HANDS you can move the hands when they block the digital display

I only recently set myself a challenge to have/buy one watch per brand, and then Casio announced these. It still counts if "one of my kids" inherits my OG Casioak, right?
Great video! Question - are you aware of any g-shocks that have an interval timer (ie. For interval training)? Some timex ironmans have it but wondering of some casios have this feature. Thanks

Casio should have added their usual atomic timekeeping function instead of the limited Bluetooth feature.
If this variant's Bluetooth functions had fitness functions, even limited ones like step tracking, I think this would totally be worth it. It does not though.
I have the battery powered version of this watch, and I love it. I don't think this one is quite worth the spend.
