You’re welcome Kevin. It’s good to know these videos are helpful. Another Casio to strongly consider is coming out tomorrow. It’s a keeper for my collection.
Great review! One of the best i’ve seen and i’ve gone through many while pondering what Casioak to buy. So i decided to go for the GA-B2100-1AER. I’ll be picking it up from a post office as soon as i fly back home to Finland.
@@Realidealgear Looks like i became a watch collector almost overnight as i also ordered a blue Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 today. So basically the two most common and unimaginative choices i could have made when spending little under 1K €uros at watches. Well, i blame my stepsister for gifting an Emporio Armani Renato that made me start wearing watches after an almost 15 year pause. I love all Tough Solar Gs ! They are really seamless and worry-free . I was to quick to buy this Casioak before the Tough solar one was released , still love it.
Hi Tim. Love your review of this watch and other watches. The light thing is the main reason why I got the regular GA2100 (the RGB one) as my main G-Shock. I looked at other G-Shock Analog/Digital watches like the GA100, GA110, and the GA700. The backlight of three mentioned watches only lights up the analog hands, not the digital display. So this watch being a form over function watch has one of the best functions over the functions over form watches. Funny how that happened.
I'm using this watch for everyday work for the last 8 months and it's a comfortable, durable and with high visibility watch. I'm planning to oil filling it, not for improving the water resistance but just for adding more crispness to the display. Anyways it'll never need a battery charge.
My all black Casioak is coming today. My first gshock. Form over function definitely is true with this watch. I’m already thinking about another gshock, maybe gb200 with step tracker & such but Garmin Instinct comes to mind too. Hopefully gshock smartwatches gets smarter and more accurate as options though.
I had this exact watch. It was much easier to read than the negative display versions. those are really tough. I wish they made the watch bigger and just increased the digital display size. No mods yet. Display is my hangup as well. Spending money modding a watch with the small display…seems like I’m putting lipstick on a pig. If they reoriented the display to the 6 o’clock position it would have more room. I do like the Bluetooth functions and reminders.
@@Realidealgear The display is OK for me. My eyes aren't perfect but good enough to see it most of the time. If I can't see it then with the light I can definitely see it. Right now I own the all black version with the negative display on this watch lol. You really would hate that one. Have to use the light a lot. But it's solar so that's a plus

Nice review, Tim! I’d really like to get one of these, but I haven’t made a move yet. Above all, I need to have a watch that’s easy to read (especially since my close vision isn’t as good as it used to be). You’re right about that digital display; I’d almost rather not have it on there if I can’t read it! Also, I don’t know why they didn’t lume the hour markers with the same lume as the hands!
Have the GA2100-1A with the white hour markers. High legibility, i barely use the light to read the time. However, reading the date or the digital screen is really challenging. Waiting for the WS1600H-1AV to arrive. I believe it will replace the gshock due to it's better functionality.
Nice review. I put a "combi bracelet on mine recently. It looks alright. Its only been two days so I cant say if Im going to keep it that way but its something to look into.
Well, I would argue it isn't form over function. It is pretty comparable to a classic square G-Shock in terms of pushers, overall size and functionality. Even the octagonal bezel design is taken from that watch. I often find the other, more over the top G-Shocks to be less useful in many situations, due to the sheer bulk and complicated design of them, for the sake of "looking more extreme". I used to wear a GD-100 for years and man did it often catch on straps, when crawling through bushes and what not. I also accidentally hit the pushers a few times, stopping timers and changing the displayed timezone. This has never happened to me with the GA-2100, while I also never had an issue with hitting the pushers when I needed them, even with gloves.
Great well-produced video as ever Tim, subbed to your channel buddy, keep safe and thank you for the review! An interesting watch I have been considering. Like yourself I struggle with tiny LCD displays, the negative LCD on standard 2100's are difficult for me these days. ;(
Great review thanks. I went for the GA-2110ET. That is the all gray one. And I totally agree with you, even before watching your video. I too think of it as form over function and even more so my gray one as its even more neutral I think it works even in a semi-formal occasion, not to mention more casual ones. I tend to baby mine a bit as it has sort of become my “dressy” watch, though it’s just as capable as my other Gs. Maybe that’s why I haven’t scratched the mineral glass yet as it seems a bit more exposed to damage than on other models.
Thank you for watching! Glad you found a color you like. It’s a classy Casio without the plated metal cases and hair pulling bracelet. Take care and have a great week.
I'd like to replace the strap with a plain silicon strap.....maybe a colored one. I just removed the case cover held on by 4 screws. Much better access to the push buttons and I believe I'll keep it like this for the time being.
Hi Tim - I have one. 1) I really wish the hour markers were white - lume would be even better 2) i wish the hands were the same as broad as the GA-2100 with lume. OtherwisE TOTALLY AGREE. FYI one index, two indices. It's Latin. PS I want an all stainless steel case and strap but it would be better with better hour markers and better minute and hour hands. It is my go to vacation watch because of the phone Bluetooth connection for timezone changes. Best, Rob in Switzerland
I was thinking of buying this watch after seeing your video. I think I might go for it, but I'm in two minds, though. Which color should I go for: the one you have, or the all-black one?
What turned my attention to the one i have is the positive display. I think the positive display is easier to read. My pathfinder triple sensor has a negative display...I tolerate it. Otherwise I don't have any. I like the simplicity of all black...mods kits can bring this model into other visual arrangements. I this color way as the starting point. You won't be disappointed. I may do a review of negative display models as a comparison...
If I buy the all-black, would it be a good pick in the long run? Does the negative display become more difficult to read or does it just depend on the individual?
I'm not a fan of negative displays at all. The negative display does fit well with the blackout design of this watch. The positive display...with the size of the display this model has, is necessary in my opinion.
Ga b2100 vs gm 2100 which one to buy im confused price difference 25doller (no matter). I need vfm watch? So which one to go (only one is affordable no choice of both)
Depends on occasions the watch will be worn. If this is more work/GADA casual watch…I’d go with GA2100. If you’re looking to go more casual/professional/office and some work around the home then the GM 2100 model will give you vfm in its wearability (leaning more into office/professional occasions). You’re right, $25 is not a huge difference but I think that $25 puts the GM2100 model on a trajectory for more professional/office occasions whereas the GA2100 is the typical Casio black resin casual mode. I’m going to throw a wrench into the guidelines you’ve presented. I highly recommend the Bluetooth/Tough Solar model because Bluetooth allows for some functions coordinated through your phone and tough solar is maintenance free. The GA model has that. Mods can get you to the GM2100 model look (I don’t know if the GM2100 has a BT and TS option)
The more versatile will be the GM2100, it's able to hit the professional level better. If you looking for a more tough, casual, EDC watch, the GSTB400 is the way to go.
I like it but I think it's exactly as you say. Form over function. I like its thinness, and that it is solar. That small display will annoy me. I have The GA-110 that has a similar small display and it tough to see at times. I look forward to you modifying it! Over here its R4200 ($221 +/-) so overpriced in comparison to other more practical G-shocks. Stainless steel case and sapphire should level it up! Have a good one Tim!
I have the yellow GA-B2100 and it's works like a charm, this beauty of a watch is amazing and wonderful, plus even though it might not go with every clothing colour it still stands out, very eye catching as well as attention grabbing, it almost like making a statement. I have no problems with this watch what so ever, thirdly I would recommend the normal black GA-B2100 or yellow version to a friend or family, I can't think about using a watch with negative display especially when the sunlight hits the dial or it's pitch black at night, fourthly i don't know what Casio was thinking when making the other 3 in negative displays, they said the 2022 GA-B2100s series is a tribute to 80's DW-5600s models which was all in postive displays, but at the end of the day, you can't please everyone, plus some people may not always want a positive display G-Shock which is fair enough as well as understandable.
I appreciated the form over function reminders - spot on. This is not a watch to use in the pool for lap swimming for example, the digital display would be hard to read and the buttons are oddly placed for example compared to the Timex IRONMAN. The form, solar and bluetooth are pluses.
I appreciate the comment and for watching the video. I like the CasiOak. Flip side of the CasiOak coin… It has many functions. I like the Bluetooth connection to add reminders, love the timer, highly legible analog dial, etc…and I can’t functionally see any of the digital based functions because the display is grossly undersized for form reasons. The stop watch display is broken into two different areas, the reminder when displayed comes in a handful of letters because the display is crammed. Form (small and ineffective digital display) stunts the effectiveness of the awesome functions. Other ani-digi Casio models do a far superior job with the digital display size allowing the functions to shine through.
If this watch had sapphire glass, I wouldn't even consider buying it. But after purchasing the Pagani PD-1717 with sapphire, the mineral glass does not appeal to me. :/ I'm thinking about buying Casio Edifice EFS-S620DB-1BVUEF. Have you had any dealings with him?
One of the best reviews of this watch, this video needs more views.
I appreciate the compliment. Have a great weekend!

Agreed.
This has multiband? I never see that written anywhere. Amazing!
It has tough solar and Bluetooth. Bluetooth functions like multiband for time keeping adjustments.
@@Realidealgear OK thank you. I wish they did one with multiband. Great video. Subscribed.
Thank you for the sub
I bought the Yellow Version 2 weeks ago!
Awesome color.
It costs $160 but hey, at least you got it, awesome.
@@Realidealgear thank you so much for your help ❤️❤️
No problem. Let me know what you chose, I'm curious. Take care.
@@Realidealgear ga b2100 green 😊
Nice Review sir
Glad you liked it! Have a great week
does it show day of the week?
Yes
Yes, using the "A" pusher while in the home/timekeeping screen. Have a great weekend.
I’m unable to decide whether I should go for Casio GSTB400 or GM2100. Anyone can help?
The more versatile will be the GM2100, it's able to hit the professional level better. If you looking for a more tough, casual, EDC watch, the GSTB400 is the way to go.
I like it but I think it's exactly as you say. Form over function. I like its thinness, and that it is solar. That small display will annoy me. I have The GA-110 that has a similar small display and it tough to see at times. I look forward to you modifying it! Over here its R4200 ($221 +/-) so overpriced in comparison to other more practical G-shocks. Stainless steel case and sapphire should level it up! Have a good one Tim!
I'm looking forward to at least sapphire crystal. I like the 'blackout' feel of this watch.
@@Realidealgear The blackout is nice but on many G-shocks they come with a negative display and Im not quite fond of that.
Agreed...and that was the tipping point for me to get this model. Negative displays offer more negatives than positives.
Well said brother. Hope you have a great evening! 💪🏼💪🏼
How much is the price in usa
Approx $125. Here’s a link

Does your strap make noises? Ive had 3 that make annoying noises from the strap. I hear you can grease them.
No noise from mine.
Bro does it have date and day function??
yes
@@Realidealgear bro but in ur display it just shows the date ... does it also show the day in the week like Mon Tues..
It does. You can choose date, reminder, or day of the week.
Well stated!
I appreciated the form over function reminders - spot on. This is not a watch to use in the pool for lap swimming for example, the digital display would be hard to read and the buttons are oddly placed for example compared to the Timex IRONMAN. The form, solar and bluetooth are pluses.
100%.
Form over function? This thing is functional as hell.
I appreciate the comment and for watching the video. I like the CasiOak. Flip side of the CasiOak coin…
It has many functions.
The Pagani PD1717 is an outstanding watch. I’ve not had an Edifice on my wrist. It’s an intriguing line.
I wear one because it makes me feel like a big man.
It happens!
Yeah, those nested buttons are real bummer unfortunately...
I’m not sure why they did that to that degree. Seems like they could’ve set them out a little further. Thanks for watching. Have a great week
What is the oldest age of a man to wear g-shock watches?
Not sure. Great question.
@@Realidealgear Thank you
Suddenly multiband is a luxury thing, sad.
I really like multiband. It's not tied to a smart phone.
i have the neg display, can't read a damn thing, yours is nicer
I with you on the negative display...nothing but negative things to say. Surprisingly most CasiOaks have a negative display. Form of Function.
