I am sorry, I was distracted by Bruno being an absolute derp of a dog and running around playing with himself with a stick on the beginning of the video 😆
Works good with a tripod stick setup. Eliminates the poles inside. Works great either way . Most clear simple tutorial on this I've seen yet. Nice job. Love the pups.
Fantastic tutorial. I was looking a way to make a tent style tarp and this is exactly what I was looking for. It seems you can also cover the entrance with the flapping parts. Gonna practice this today.
Cool. I do the same but with a 4.5x3 DDXL. I tuck a 3rd underneath and it gives me a floor the rest is the same but I use two sticks as an a frame so the pokes are out of the way. The easy way to keep the sticks together is wrap the wrist supports from one stick round the other and put a hat over them.
Thank you for this very easy tuto! Thanks to you I tried it today for the first time and it was perfect! The among of place inside is "insane"! Can't wait to sleep in it 😴 cheers from France 🇨🇵
@@RedBranchBushcraft oh man I love Ireland! I went there once with my wife and can't wait to come back! If i was not french I would have choose Irish for sure 💪🏻
Thanks if I ever end up with just a tarp, I’ll know what to do. I normally use a pop-up much quicker and easier. Plus I got a floor in and zippered door.😊
@@RedBranchBushcraft ...nothing beats the versatility of the tarp: you can choose the configuration most adapted to the circunstances, more roomy, more stealthy, more stable, more ventilated, you name it. I usually use smaller tarps most often in diamond config but if I am using the 3×3 (I have a DD but I like better the Varusteleeka) I recently bought the V3 but I've only tried it a sleeping bag / outer bag.
With the handle of my trekking pole, I have a heck of a time keeping it in place. The DD tarp is very slick and the handle is even a soft plastic. With the tension on the tarp, it just wants to slide / kick out at the top. I have even tried putting the pole on an angle hoping it wouldn’t slip / kick out.
Just found you channel... Love this setup and I use a DD 3x4.5 just love the extra room it gives... Also you don't need to push out the corners to do the two pole setup. Great channel and loving what I have seen so far... One question could you put up a vide with all the Tarp setups in one??? easier to binge watch and pass n to others.. same with anything similar subjects... small vides and the a compilation later on...
I've never built one of these shelter so hopefully someone can answer this question. Where does the fire go? I'd personally like to have a fire about a meter or so from the tent, but with that guy line there you can't do that. I've never seen anyone actually use one of these shelters in an overnight video either so are these even any good?
You make it sound so simple ..my only concern is how cold would it get inside during the winter months as you will need an airflow to avoid condensation...
@@RedBranchBushcraft Done this setup with the same tent in spring Finland. My advice that I found worked quite well is to create two little draft openings at the bottom of the tent that are in line and away from your sleeping zone
Nice one. I have a question. Would it be possible to use this setup without the pole and instead use a ridgeline over the tarp and tie the center loop (as my tarp only has 1 center loop) to the ridgeline?
You can pull the two front stakes and stake them in closer together then stick your pack in front of the smaller hole to block draft. I've done that when it got real cold and when it started blowing rain. In colder weather you make the walking stick shorter also. Brings the size of the opening lower (smaller)
What I do is to affix the front side flaps to their guy rops with carabiner clips. Then when I want to 'close' the doorway I detach the ropes and clip the carabiners together. A neat trip I learned from some other youtuber.
@@RedBranchBushcraft Okay thx dude. Got my first Bushcraft/Outdoor gear this week, and I am eager to try this Tarp setup, but without the sticks if possible

They are ridgeline pintail pants, excellent

I don’t see the benefit of using the second pole. What am I not understanding?
It props it up a bit in the back
It has to be a light tent together with a tarp for bushcraft.
I prefer a tarp on its own
How to close The Door when your sleep?
You can try folding the flaps in or don't close the door
What is a tree by tree ?
It's like a three X three but more Irish
