I love this channel, and I don't understand why it doesn't get more views.
I appreciate that these films are snapshots of our past and they are presented without modern day judgement and commentary. These are glimpses of real life in the place I grew up and love, even though I left DFW 24 years ago.
I caught myself "prejudging" this topic before watching the film.
    I was wrong.
I'm pretty liberal, but NO, an x rated flick doesn't need to be shown across the street from an elementary school!
I was around in 1974, I was 13. My aunt went to see this movie, and she saw "Last Tango In Paris" too. She never described the movies, she just said her husband enjoyed them immensely which got a big laugh from the adults in the room.
I remember that people were free to go see these movies, but they had to go to locations that weren't in suburban neighborhoods. It was the same with liquor stores, only certain areas of Dallas had those and I remember when beer and wine wasn't even sold at grocery stores.
I really enjoy these films provided by SMU, because I was a child back then and didn't understand what grown-ups were always getting twisted up about. I've learned a lot from these short films about topics that affected me and my family back then. It's a bit like time travel!
I'm such a nerd, when I see "Deep Throat" my mind goes to Nixon's whistleblower and the character from "The X Files". I've never seen a porn movie in my life because it doesn't appeal to me. I don't care that other people watch it, that's their right!
