The safety at EV stations is a real concern. Electrify America often uses Walmart parking lots where they tend to be full of homeless and drug users panhandling. Tesla Supercharger stations are slightly better located, but CCS stations on average are in secluded areas with poor lighting at night. EV stations aren't as dangerous as gas stations yet, but that's only because the criminals haven't adapted.
That sounds more like an issue with walmart hollowing out towns and creating slums by driving every other business away than it does with electric cars. To be honest if you can afford a 50 thousand dollar car I have no idea why you're going to a walmart to begin with.
I mentioned in a comment on another Autoline Daily video before this that EV charging stations should be like gas stations and placed in "safe" places. I also mentioned that EV charging stations should have signs on the highway, just like gas stations, so a person doesn't need to relay solely on the EV's navigation system to find one. It also amazes me that Autoline has cheer-led the boneheaded decisions made by EV companies, mostly Tesla, in the past, only to turn around later and report how stupid these decisions were, or how uncomfortable future buyers are with these decisions. However, I would like to see some evidence of critical thinking when it comes to reporting on EVs, and so far Autoline Daily and Autoline After Hours has been failing on that regard. I've been saying that charging stations need to be just like gas stations with a store, bathroom, an attendant to report issues, air pumps for tires, windshield wasters, etc. Those needs don't go away just because you are driving an EV.
Exactly what we have in Upstate NY along the NYS Thruway. You only need to charge enough for you to drive another 3 hours or less, then stop to take a whiz. Repeat.

So using Elon's historical timeline, the first Model 2 should be here by 2030. As for safe charging, there area ton of plugs in bad places, but also plenty of news stories of cars getting jacked at gas stations too.

On the road, you can go into the convenience store and recycle some coffee for fresh while your car charges, then drive another 3 hours.
plug-in hybrids are a thing too. The ramcharger can do 90% of driving on battery and for long trips can fill up just like an other gas/diesel vehicle
I've been saying that charging stations need to be just like gas stations with a store, bathroom, an attendant to report issues, air pumps for tires, windshield wasters, etc. Those needs don't go away just because you are driving an EV.
Exactly what we have in Upstate NY along the NYS Thruway. You only need to charge enough for you to drive another 3 hours or less, then stop to take a whiz. Repeat.
Bars and restaurants make even more business sense if entire families stop for 30-40 minutes- speaking from experience as we often do EV trips as a 2+2

The absolutely dumbest fear is of charging your car. Absolutely, positively at complete odds with reality.
Why? Lot's of plugs are in out of the way and dark areas, and once plugged in you are stranded and can't drive away. Seems that every EV owner needs to conceal carry.

I always pick Tesla Superchargers that at are 24/7 gas stations with good lighting in my Model Y by researching Plugshare before I go on a road trip, including looking at photos. There are enough SCers now that you can be picky that way. Some of the SCers are in not-so-good locations
Tesla has Netflix and surround sound and 8 cameras. Any 250kWh Charging station is safe for a Tesla. Lighting is nice, but not necessary.
So using Elon's historical timeline, the first Model 2 should be here by 2030. As for safe charging, there area ton of plugs in bad places, but also plenty of news stories of cars getting jacked at gas stations too.
When will reality set in. People want to gas and go. Take a trip get into a traffic jam and see how far your EV will take you with global warming and your AC on your screwed.
EVs are extremely efficient in traffic jams. A gas car in 1st or second gear is very inefficient and burns far more fuel
