  • ASMR version. Surviving -20°c or -4°f Winter Camping in the Snow under Full Moon, Winter Ambience, Sounds for sleep, relaxing, study, anxiety relief - NO TALKING just relaxing ambience and ASMR sounds.
    Cozy cold tent camping in winter, without a fire. Using my Hilleberg Nallo 3 & Hyperlite Mountaingear Southwest 4400 backpack, I wanted to go out backpacking & camping high up in the mountains of the North. The forecast said no wind, dead calm with minus -20°c or -4°F. I choose skis for this mountain trip. It was wild and beautiful as I found a spot in the open to pitch my tent under the full moon. I brought coffee & food and found some true peace with wonderful views of the moon and mountains. No hot tent in my videos.

My youtube channel focus on outdoor wilderness adventures and exploration, backpacking, hiking, canyoneering, skiing, climbing and mountaineering. Nights spent in a tent, alone or with friends. From the snow covered mountains and misty fjords of the North, to the remote plateaus of Yellowstone and the debts of the red canyons of Utah to the summit of Mt Whitney and the heart of Sequoia Kings Canyon National Park. I love the Wilderness!

    You are definitely a four season backpacker! How do you prevent frostbite on the bare skin of your face? I would think you would need a balaclava and snow glasses. I salute your determination, durability and toughness! You are solo on this trek - incredibly solo! So well documented!

    • @NorwegianXplorer
      @NorwegianXplorer  Рік тому +2

      Thank you, my skin handle cold pretty well, the problem at these temperatures is when I need to take of my gloves to film, it gets cold pretty fast, but I use some thin woolen liners for my gloves that helps, I can manage most of my filming with those on.

    • @stanleylogan7139
      @stanleylogan7139 Рік тому +1

      @@NorwegianXplorer I didn't ask about bare hands. But in the winter when I'm cleaning the driveway of snow my fingers get so cold. It is very painful! Yes on the glove liners.

    • @NorwegianXplorer
      @NorwegianXplorer  Рік тому

      Oh, the face, I have never had a problem with that unless it is very windy, but then again if it is very windy it is usually not that cold. I do bring a face mask, balaclava and a woolen buff just in case to be able to cover my face.

    2:04; looks like the snow has a hard crusty surface.
    5:39; I knew you were preparing the snow surface prior to pitching your tent when I saw you methodically stomping a shape on the snow with your skis. Beautiful clear blue sky.
    14:05; Textbook tent pitch - Hilleberg would be proud.
    31:03; Time for coffee right after the tent is pitched & your "stuff" is organized inside the tent. I've gotten to know your routine, Jarl.
    38:44; Is that going to be a hot water bottle at the foot of your sleeping bag?
    40:14; wondering WHY you've not piled snow around the tent perimeter
    40:40; There it is, Real Turmat Freeze Dried meal about to be hydrated & then consumed.
    58:04; Good closeup of the Hilleberg YKK COIL zipper, NO TEETH. All zippers on all Hilleberg tents are YKK COIL zippers, no teeth to snag.
    No need for any dialog, the beautiful scenery speaks for itself.
    Do you refill the partially empty gas canisters so you always begin an adventure with a FULL fuel canister?
    1:01:39; Is that a radio tower on top of that peak?
    1:03:17; no wind as you're breaking camp, just a beautiful day with intense blue skies
    1:23:00; Love the roll down tops on a backpack
    I watch long videos like this one in 30 minutes segments.
    Warm Regards from Reno, Nevada U.S.A.

      @NorwegianXplorer  Рік тому +1

      Thanks Bill, the forecast was for chilling cold weather with no wind, so didnt need to pile the snow for this one, I made two hot water bottles for this one if I remember right, this was right at the limit of what the winter propane cannisters could do so the boiling took forever, bought a multifuel burner foe next winter season, so that should be interesting.

    Hey this was amazing footage and an amazing adventure! Thank you for sharing with us. I’m not sure we can pick up those stove cartridges here anywhere in the states. I just use my msr white gas stove in that kind of cold. Only problem with white gas is you can’t use it in your tent vestibule. Also curious about how you keep your water bottles from freezing in those crazy temps? I use the zippered cozies but I’m not sure they’re working at -20F like where you were here. I also liked those hip high camp bootie thingies. Are those available internationally? Just curious. Good stuff here sir. You take care and I’m honestly looking forward to some winter trips this year.
