I’m partial to what I call “the Iranian” which is essentially an outside tie… I’ve heard some people call it things like a “crowbar tie” but essentially it’s the outside tie you use to hit a shrug with… I consider that as like a “home base” to snap and shrug from and it’s an extremely common position to end up in… Especially for younger wrestlers…
Stevan you think you could make a breakdown video of the saitiev brothers hand fighting skills?? Would love to see your insight on that level of hand fighting.
Appreciate all the tips. It would be good to come back around to this and talk about how well you can move someone out of bounds with the tie. It could replace the "ease" and "frequency" categories you had. The good ties people don't let you have so those criteria always push the real ranking of the tie in the opposite direction. The body lock is so good, it's really the start of a few different dominating takedowns. If we call that a tie, it's the best one. It's not a tie it's a win. ;) The front headlock is more of position than a tie. If we're in someone's front head lock we made a mistake. It's almost as good as a body lock. If someone has a chance at taking you down from front headlock, it's because you didn't have another second to get your posture right or you are a couple tiers below them in skill. Those are both S tier at any age group. Freestyle won't even let the action stay there its so dominant and draining on the bottom person. The bottom person just stalls. The overhook and double overs are only good if someone is surprises you with how much they trained them. Those are ones you get forced into or are ahead with little time. There won't be a surge in their popularity because that would mean the rest of the wrestlers are used to that strategy. Like being a lefty in some sports is an advantage, but only because its rarer.
I like collar tie must because u can use it to Steiner to ur high crotch or swim from it or use it to punch underhook etc and underhook because throwbye really good and to ur shot and post/thumb block because you can swim to ur shot of it and use it defensively
@ you must have watched a different match, I was referring specifically to the 2017 finals match: ua-cam.com/video/4IGyciLUUWE/v-deo.htmlsi=N_niiKliqMPV4WIQ
For a study in the overhook vs the underhook just watch Isaiah Martinez getting beat in the NCAA finals by Vincenzo Joseph. Imar was one of the best underhook guys in tye country… overhook for the win baby!!!
@@StevanMicicSRB A fair counterpoint!! ;-) In my opinion overhooks are effective in part because they are under-utilized and people don't get much experience dealing with someone who actually knows how to use them
Elbow control!!! My son always struggled with hand fighting, and it was a bit easier for him to take elbows. I bought every John Smith video online that I could find, because I never wrestled. Studied it. Never realized how important head position is when taking an elbow. Love the thumb block on the other side. Stevan your inside reach single from elbow control is 🔥🔥🔥 We use this international sign: ua-cam.com/video/JBtjQZzNWjA/v-deo.html
Comment your favorite wrestling tie! And make sure to subscribe!!
Sir I have a question are setups important in wrestling or should we just go with flow?
Underhook 🔥
It’s a great one
I prefer the overhook personally… 🤷♂️
Thank you very much Stevan! That's the complete toolkit every young wrestler should have in his backbag😎
Thank you Edi!🔥🏆❤️
Yessir! Glad you made this tier list.

How would your list change if you wrestle someone much heavier (as in the open class of sub grappling)?
For a study in the overhook vs the underhook just watch Isaiah Martinez getting beat in the NCAA finals by Vincenzo Joseph.
Watched that. But vincenzo did not use his overhook to get the win, he just scrambled better than isaiah

Offensive: Underhook
Defensive: Russian 2-on-1
Love it!

Classic vid😂😂🔥
Collar and tricep for me 😢
Great one
Defensive 2 on 1 Russian and offensive 2 on 1 Russian I don’t think it comes close and opens things up also helps out if your the smaller fighter
