I remember you mentioning in a video a long time ago that you could’ve easily kicked back and enjoyed the life you had with him but you wanted something of your own and I know that is definitely playing a big part in how you’re able to bounce back the way that you have.

    I genuinely needed this video because I am in the process of moving back home after my dad passed away to take care of my mom (they are my grandparents since my actual parents passed when I was an infant) and I’m reorganizing my closet. Like you, I feel like everything is a mess in my life right now. I have watched so many of your videos, but from the last one to now, this new “Rachel” is also letting me know that it is okay to have a breakdown or 2, as long as we keep moving forward and giving gratitude to being alive and the lessons that come with loss. You are strong, beautiful and inspiring so please never forget that. Lysm!💖

    Long time lurker, first time commenter! Rachel, you’re an inspiration. I’ve been watching your videos for a while now, but was living with my dad while I dealt with some health issues, so didn’t have a space to makeover. Unfortunately, my dad died unexpectedly in January and I’ve inherited the house, which I’ve had intensely mixed emotions about. He’d been retired two years and had started trying to makeover the house into his dream space, and this video has been like a spark of hope and inspiration I needed to start making this place into a dream home he’d have been proud of. Thank you so much. Sending you support/love/strength from the UK for your new chapter. You’re just going to go from strength to strength - you’ve got this!

    When you do these type of makeovers can show show how functional things are? for example how you put stuff on the back wall like is it easy to access or do you have to move much to get it.I don't know if it makes sense

    • @LivingtoDIYwithRachelMetz
      @LivingtoDIYwithRachelMetz  4 роки тому +15

      Unfortunately I'm not going to break down functionality all the time because I figured people can fill in the blanks/assess and build for their own needs. The bags hanging behind my dressier clothes on the left hand side are clothes I'm not grabbing for because COVID/quarantine and those are my nicer purses I would pair (sitting behind) with it by simply scooting the hangers over and grabbing. Necklaces are in easy reach as you can tell in the video and the pants again to get to them - scoot the hangers over.

    I love this look, and I wish I could enact all of it in my own closet. Unfortunately, I have a small closet with an even smaller doorway that I can't alter, and it makes the sides almost too deep to reach everything. However, in looking at this, I think I might be able to add shelves at the bottom the way you did which would be great to store some of my bulkier items and I'm excited to try that.

    Gorgeous job woman! If I can humbly suggest to add some lighting like you did to the mini human's closet..... i think it would really open it up even more! And let's face it who doesn't like the little extra touch that lighting provides ?! But all in all great job! Hope you're having a great day🧡

    After having to downsize from a five-bed, three-story house to a one single bed apartment after my divorce, this video gives me all the happy! Make that space yours, girl! It's such fresh energy to start over and although a huge struggle, you will come out dancing. Just give it time xx

    I hope you are doing well and healing in your own good time. I recently subscribed to your channel and have been binge watching all your videos. You are a total inspiration to me and have given me a shot of confidence that maybe, just maybe I can do it too at my age (62+)
    Thank you and take care of your emotional and physical health

    WOW Rachel I can't believe how much stuff you were able to put in that closet once you customised it! It's so pretty too! I live in a rental so not sure how much of this DIY I could get away with but you sure are inspiring!😁 Plus, let me just say that I SO look forward to your videos because I love your style & you make everything seem so doable. I am so proud of how you keep GOING STRONG 💪 thru your breakup & I'm sure it's really very hard but I for 1 appreciate your videos while you "Build thru the Breakup"👍

    *I love how you did this!!!!* 👌😍😍 I just would've added shelf liner under the shoes or had an Ikea shoe cabinet in the room itself. I don't have much though and still love what you did. My heart goes out to you. I loved the other closet as well ♥️

    I appreciate the little editing moment so much like when you dub yourself removing both of the closet doors at the same time. Makes me smile every time because you care about both of these mediums 🥰🥰

    You are such an inspiration, really. I genuinely look up to you and the fact that you are sharing a part of your life like this is truly amazing. I’m 17 and have no idea what to do with my life and watching you has really helped me. Lots of love ❤️ PS: I apologize for any spelling mistakes I made, english is not my native language.

    Rachel this just what i needed. I removed the mirrored closet doors off since they kept coming off the tracks. My closet is configured similarly and I dont want to spend crazy money on custom closet organization system.

    I don't know what caused your break up, frankly it's none of my business. However I do know the pain of a break up, I'm very proud of you for 'walking on', with your friends, family and channel. You do You!
    I love your monologue-ing voice overs.... the way you 'put' everything is not overly wordy, but like a little peek into your thought processes, which helps people understand where you're coming from and how to apply your concepts to their own DIY's.

    I first found your videos when I was going through a big breakup and had to move out of an ex's place that I had put blood sweat and tears in, only to start all over. Your videos helped me a lot as I figured out where I wanted to take my life during that time. Thank you for your authenticity as you're moving through this period of your time - but I know you're going to come out of it with something amazing.
