- The Governing Body has been asserting control over Jehovah's Witnesses since installing the disfellowshipping arrangement in the 1950's. Losing their religious status... and millions of dollars in handouts in several countries, has led Jehovah to pull the emergency brake on his chariot and change direction. Of god Stacy, I thought the very same thing! If you really disliked someone in the congregation, you can now personally mark them. (You can always make up a good reason) This will open a big can of worms and I love it!! Elders phones will not stop ringing and text messages will fill their phones. I think the change is due to the government coming on to them for violating human rights. By letting each member do the marking, the responsibility is no longer with watchtower,but with each individual. Thanks for beautiful chariot ride into the spiritual paradise!!!!

I lightly referenced this podcast at our family dinner, and before I could say anything else about it, all I got was that he's most likely an apostate. They wouldn't answer any questions when I tried bringing them up afterward, but yet they continue to ask me when I'll be going back to the meetings with them. 🙄

[Cut to a Jehovah's Witnesses Governing Body meeting room. The members are gathered around a large table, poring over charts and scriptures.]
Chairman: Alright folks, we have a bit of a situation. It seems our "new light" has dimmed again. We need to come up with an explanation that keeps the flock confident in our exclusive approval by God.
Elder 1: How about we say it was right for its time, but now we have more information, so we need to adjust our understanding?
Elder 2: Yes, yes. We can't call it an error, though. Imperfection implies God made a mistake, and we can't have that. Let's say it's "progressive understanding."
Elder 3: Brilliant! And we can call it "new light." That way, we can correct the error without admitting it was an error in the first place.
[Cut back to the heavenly garage. God is still on the phone.]
God: Gabriel, do you think they're buying it down there?
Mechanic Angel: Oh, absolutely. They're spinning it as "new light" again. It's a clever way to cover up the fact that the chariot's GPS is, well, less than divine.
God: (Sighs) I created the universe, and yet they can't fathom the idea of a simple apology. Always twisting and turning to fit their narrative.
Mechanic Angel: It's like watching a game of theological Twister. They're so wrapped up in their own rules they can't see the obvious.
God: (Laughing) Well, as long as they keep believing, I suppose. Just make sure the chariot's ready for its next journey. Wouldn't want it breaking down on the way to another revelation.
[The scene ends with God hanging up the phone, shaking His head in bemusement as the Governing Body members continue to pat themselves on the back for their ingenious "new light" revelation.]

Thank you, Stacy, for this incredible podcast. Let me also say that I believe bigger changes are yet to come with respect to disfellowshipping or removal. Rumor has it that the WTBTS will proclaim a "Jubilee Year" which will in effect be a blanket amnesty for all removed and disassociated individuals to return to the organization and be granted reinstatement, no questions asked. In light of the changes the August 2024 Watchtower has announced, that would be a logical next step. I'm not insisting this will happen, but it wouldn't surprise me if it did. Many doubtless would take advantage of such an arrangement should it come to pass. I understand that. They want to regain the love of family and friends they have lost. As for me, I will never go back to this criminal organization. A gilded cage is still a cage, and I won't give up the freedom I have found since I was removed almost twenty years ago.

I got disfellowship treatment from age 15 to present day im now nearly 40. I never got baptized either so totally uncalled for. I wonder if anyone will feel remorse and apologise 🤔 I wont hold my breath
Me too apart from my close family. I left at 16 and I'm 45 now. My dad recently passed away and I went into the kh for his funeral and I could feel the judgement and stares. Only one elder spoke to me to say hello. Oh well. I'm a good person and I'm surrounded by people who love me unconditionally

@Smyrna37 I could see one sister was unsure if she could approach me. She did come and give me a hug in the end but she shouldn't have had to worry. I wasnt disfellowshipped and was never baptised. But I am definitely 'bad association' because I was the 'rebel' but like I said to my mum 'I just couldn't be myself in that religion'
I'm happy with my life. I have a loving partner and amazing kids. I enjoy my job and have many friends.
I only went into the kh because it was my dad and I wanted to support my mum. I sat at the front and held my mums hand.
Its a little sad & shocking that everyone is so excited by the "changes". Im with you. Its really just "legal" word changes. My 1st thought was, "wow, now any molesters who get "removed", will be back in mere months." Im just shaking my head about how easily they manage to get "individuals" to go along with this bogus crap! 😒🙄

Whats uncertain to me is what watchtower's longterm playbook is now that this marking change has occurred.
My expectation was that legally they couldnt be seen as an organization that mandated shunning to its members. I always expected them to boil the frog with the disfellowshipping policy...where every few years they'd smooth out the harsh edges of it until it was chiseled down to nothing/ abolished.
Now that members mark each other, im not sure they're trying to place the powdered wig and gavel in the possession of each member....and then pointing to the members saying "each baptized member decides who they associate with and who they don't. They aren't mandated, and they aren't coerced....now give us back our tax exemption!"
Fantastic assessment. Like you, I predicted more of that 'boiled frog' strategy as well....but they've done one better: they kept DFing and handed it out to everyone...absolving themselves when governments want to take away status or $$....they can now say it's up to each 'member' to do it....
Worse than tax exemption, more like "please don't ban us in any more countries for our tyrannical anti-freedom of religion, compassionless cult rules"

I believe this move takes the onus away from the organization and places it on the individual member - by so doing they are no longer accountable to authorities who are coming after them for their shunning policy.

Ok so I’m thinking here,,,, my first language is Spanish, born and raised in a Spanish speaking country, and of course, everything about the Society was in Spanish,,,, now, why am I bringing this up?…. Because in Spanish, the actual translation for “removal” is ,,,, wait for it,,,, ELIMINACIÓN ,,,, (elimination) yep and it’s a pretty strong word, not really how it’s used here in the states like when you play a game and loose, no, when you kill bugs at home, you “eliminas” cucarachas, when you watch an R movie (which you shouldn’t if you are a JW) and the evil guy kills someone, you say he “eliminó” that guy ,,,,, and if use the word within a softer context, “eliminar” still means to get rid of something, permanently (I said that in my head with an Steven Lett voice LOL) so seriously now, we’ll see how the organization does this in Spanish. How is it that your videos get even better over time - of course, it doesn't hurt that the WTS has been shooting themselves in the foot with the plethora of changes. (I'm glad you highlighted that many of these changes are CLEARLY coming from the WTS's legal department and NOT Jesus or Jehovah!) Stacey, you produce some of the best exJW videos out there. I have no doubt that hundreds - if not thousands - of JWs are going to wake up if they stumble across them and watch them. It's like that old Lays commercial, "I'll bet you cannot eat just one", well this is very applicable to your vides too. I mean, Men showing other Men the type of eye candy they have, and Women flexing on other Women about how good they look… It’s insufferable… Quite a number of TIGHT White pants which revealed completely the color of the not-white underwear, and bright colored tops tucked-in…. I'm a new subscribed, before this video I had only seen a handle full of your "short" videos. I wanna say you made me laugh and smile numerous times throughout this video. Like I previously said in a comment on one of your video's, Jehovah is my God and only potential Savior. No so sure at all about Jesus being the only begotten son/blood atonement of Jehovah. Question one, what does "marking" intail. Is it physical, mental, verbal? I'm not familiar with it.

They usually give a talk outlining something someone in the congregation has done (and which everyone knows about or can see) and let everyone know it's wrong and you wouldn't 'hang out' with someone that makes those decisions....it's basically a softer shunning! thank you for being here and email for us is in our profile description. Idk why they added the part about not saying outloud that someone was disfellowshipped but instead just telling the congregation that they left. At the congregation, I'm at (im pimo), they just say, "[insert name here] is no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses." Does the departure message vary by congregation?
That was the same announcement when I was an elder and JW ....at least at the end. But they're now changing it in many cases due to how it's impact legal issues/situations.

I don't think so Arlene. I think many will stay away. I actually believe these types of changes are meant to keep those currently in....those that have left see through this type of stuff so much easier.
These changes won't bring people back, but it may help to keep those who leave/have left, silent.
The allowance of at least some communication with family, on condition of not saying anything that classes you as "an apostate", will keep many from daring to speak out.
The Apostate voice is huge now, and a major threat to the organisation. Jw.Borg hive mind must find a way to silence as many who leave as possible.

My question would be (just one among many) ..Why would anyone who NEVER left God and is repentent want to return to a congregation who removed them?

That might be true, but in speaking to character and propping David up as an 'example' for Jehovah's Witnesses, is he really someone we should emulate? Does his record show a stable man that made good decisions? No chance. He's quite possibly the most polarizing person in the Bible that makes a Bible reader question everything that comes after him...including killing people for stealing, not sharing $$ on real estate deals, etc. King David may have had free reign, but all that does is call into question Jehovah himself. Why?
Not only did Jesus NEVER use the name Jehovah, but he showed him not to be the true father by his description at Matt 7: 7-11. Jehovah in the Scriptures is Enlil in the Sumerian Tablets... thousands of years older than the Bible, and the basis for the Old Testament history.
