Honestly, I watched your Arkham Horror gameplays, now I go through the Grail and I think these are the best boardgame playthrough videos on YT, I like the humour, the conversations... well done, shame there are no new videos since a year though!

I see why the game says that each character should do one action, then the next character does one. That way, with multiple players they aren't just watching for a long time. Even solo, it's probably a good idea so you don't have one character get too far ahead and then you realize you have to come back for something that the other character discovered.
00:57 I’ve had it confirmed that you should have only revealed one event card. We did exactly the same thing and most people think that you do reveal two, but I checked with awaken realms and they said only one
It's a few years later, but since this is at the top of a video that still might be watched by people I thought I comment. Isn't it two event cards?
Q: At the beginning of the Chapter one setup card, it tells you to reveal the top card of the Event Deck. Then, when you start playing, do you start at the “Start of the Day” or the “During the Day” stage? This is relevant, since “Start of the Day” stage would reveal another event card, but “During the Day” doesn’t.
A: The very first day of Campaign has no special rules and is resolved just like every other day. This means at the start you move the dial, reveal the Event card (in this case, Chapter 1: Part 2), and so on.
Oh awesome! I noticed this was available for pre-order and was fairly certain I'd seen that you'd done a playthrough. This will help decide whether or not to purchase the game.
Stopping at 1:50-ish to avoid major spoilers regarding the questing. But great tutorial to see how the game works. I seriously cannot wait for this game. I'm in so much pain mentally trying to just forget about it for now.

My wife started playing with me and she gave up after 30 minutes. She said “too many things to keep in mind.” I played solo with the app companion.

Unless I am mistaken on the rules I dont think yall could have done the dual diplomacy at the end. When she entered the location it triggered the encounter and yall won't already in a party. I dont think you can create a party after the trigger happens. Also the exploration that happened right after that I think was done wrong as well. Since he didnt pay an energy he shouldn't have participated which messed up the math. Just my 2 cents.
I started watching live and enjoyed it. I did have to head to bed around 8:30 but got to finish the watch while at work.

@@buellrichardson5222 you can always let them guide the store if you find yourself in areas where you already know what is going to happen.
An easy way to check if a diplomacy encounter has multiple stages is to check the Roman numerals on the right side of the card.

Wow, this looks like a game with a lot of possible downtime. Still looking forward to receiving my copy.
I think it might have just been they way we are playing because we are filming. We were trying to make sure every decision or card was on screen and talked through. If you were playing at home that would not be necessary. If a character was involved in a combat the next player could start there action.
Got mine a few days ago. About to start the epic journey lol

I do wonder about the cancel mark at the free key [1:25:46] because if it says "cancells icon" it might mean it cancels everything.

I just started to play and the combat (especially in two-player party encounter) has been hard to figure out.
3:25:00: Did yo go through your Combat and Diplomacy cards? Depending on the number of symbols for Practicality and Empathy on all cards you could decide if you need a cube there.
1:45: I think there are 8 around Cuanacht. Because 101 is not around itself. :-)
53:06 ish the very last line of that set up card is what told you to flip the first event card...

Diplomacy around 3:15:00 - you only get the bonus from the symbol if you connect that Attribute, not if you have it.... In this case Empathy - you connected Caution and moved it up one on the track
You are right we were playing this incorrectly, we do fix it in future videos. Thanks for pointing it out.
The rulebook is hideously unclear about this rule - it does not reference it once. It made me feel dirty when I found out I had made diplomacy an after thought.

I love the look of the Exploration and story stuff in this game, but the combat looks pretty tedious to me. I hope things are a bit streamlined in the new standalone expansion.
At 3:10 u draw card as it is end of turn. Should not u both play first then throw to 3 cards then draw a card and then enemy respond?
Pay attention the game's hints.....and the mission in course....
When you flip over the second event card 56:04, does it say to spend one food and one wealth card? Or does it say to pay one food or one wealth? Also, the rules say that the events can be paid by one player if you are in a party. Both get the exp and rep, but not other benefits. Or am I wrong in this?
Hey Rob, I am super late to this party, but I just noticed Awaken Realms has another pledge manager open on Gamefound. I buy these types of games with solo play in mind, if I can sucker friends in to it thats great, if not, I bought it with solo in mind. That being said, did you back the new Tainted Grail over on Gamefound? What do you think of the changes? If you were me, would you back it knowing what you now know after playing it? Here I am two years later, following along on tabletop simulator as a solo player. It's a bit hard to learn, I might have to pick up a physical copy to play on my own.
I'd also like to add you're a lucky man. To have a beautiful wife like that who actually wants to join you during boardgames is like finding a 🦄.

I bought the game for a tooon cause I cancelled my pledge years ago. We got to Chapter 3B and got wrecked as we literally thought rushing was the right idea. We had 3 Menhirs lit with like 4 or 5 days still left on the Cuanacht one, so the Encounter decks got way too difficult while we still sucked. We ended up getting bogged down, constantly drawing 3 difficulty encounters and not having the skills for them.
We've since restarted from the beginning as different characters, but we're really demotivated as we got wrecked so hard and now have to re-read so much stuff. I've read a bunch of options for Story Mode, making things easier in other ways but I also don't want to make it so easy that we just rip through the game and don't get the 'full' experience. At that rate I may as well just read it like a book or watch a full playthrough :/

We did the exact same thing. We ripped thru chapter 1 and 2 in like an hour and then suddenly hit chapter 3 and were getting slaughtered. We restarted and spent a lot of time farming food and resources in Chapter 2 before heading into Chapter 3 and it went MUCH better. FYI there is a "quick" way to finish chapter 3 and a LONG way.. we took the long way which hurt initially but made it easier in the long run. We are now in Chapter 6 with 4-5 skills per player and improved combat decks soloing L3 and L4 encounters. It does get better!
@@OldBaldGuyGaming We only just got back to Chapter 3B once again but I only have 1 skill-up as Maggot and my gf only has 2 skill-ups as Niamh - is that okay or super far behind? I am at 5 exp so I could level again but I want to save and get a 3rd skill-up for Maggot instead.
My gf is super discouraged again, we love the game when it feels like it's flowing nicely but the 2nd time through we tried to do things differently and we got super stuck bouncing between Farshire and Timberwall and not knowing where to go lol
@@Hendrycks You are right on schedule have 1-2 skills in the middle of chapter 3. I won't post any spoilers (if you want any just message me but I won't post them publicly) but you are right on track. There is a LOT of running around in Chapter 3.
Really need timestamps...Turn 1 seems like it starts at possibly 44:15...that's a long preamble to get to turn 1.
1:50:00 So, instead of wasting energy exploring the location you decided to waste energy moving to a new location? I think you ended up wasting more energy moving than you would have exploring the Mounds.
Also, you're supposed to resolve "play right away" card abilities first, because they go off the moment you play the card. Then you go through the links.

If you are that concerned about spoilers, then maybe you should not have done a stream... You used far too many spoilers in this video.
