  • I was just trying to take the subway home and eat an entire container of Ben and Jerry's ice cream when my groceries spilled all over the train and I got in a screaming match with a really nice lady.
I told this story at The Moth Grand SLAM at the Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn, New York on July 15th, 2015. The theme was 'Making Waves.' It's about an argument that I got into on the subway after my groceries spilled all over the place. You can also hear it on The Moth's podcast on the week of August 5th, 2015.

I bookedmarked this over a year ago when I first heard it on The Moth, and always pull it up when my faith in humanity needs restoration. :)

Thank you for your story and for having it available for all of us. I heard it on the radio last summer, but was thrilled to find it again. I'm a high school English teacher in Detroit and I just shared it with my high school juniors as an example of what a personal narrative should sound like. It's a great example and one that they all could relate to. They loved it and loved the message that you shared. Thank you. :)

WOW! Thanks so much for this note, it really means a lot to read this. I'm so glad that I could reach your kids that way - it's what makes this line of work really, really cool.

THIS MAN, NEEDS to be a stand up COMIC! "Scrape the PETINA of Sheer Rage. I'm the only one I've ever MET who knows what the word PATINA means!" LMFAO. His storytelling is GREAT!

Thank you for this! It cracks me up when I'm frustrated with people, my life, "growth," and the world in general. I even bookmarked it so I can share it. Thank you, man!

He's got a really strong C.K. Louis kind of vibe.

Yes, but not cringe like Louis can be. It's like a classier Louis CK and a bit more relatable.

He's DOES have a CK vibe ... BUT ... to me (and taste is relative) this story is better than anything I've heard Louis do.
