Perty's rage quit here is completely understandable. His traitor brothers treated him worse than before the Heresy (atleast no one back then tried to kill him, *ahem* Fulgrim), his allies lost their marbles and just charged the palace with demons up their ass, thw Baldmaster barely even talked to him, he had to work with the dude that gave him terminal cancer, and no one did any of his plans
Oh yeah, I think it's pretty likely that if the traitor forces were cohesive and actually listened to perty, he probably could have broken opened terra.

Perterabo was barely a Traitor; it's not even that he was really FOR Chaos, it's that he was AGAINST the Emperor, and considering how the Emperor treated most of the Primarchs, you can't blame him entirely. I know Perterabo gets called whiny and such, and that's totally warranted, but if the Emperor had shown him any true affection or praised him every once and a while, it's likely he would've stayed loyal, and without him it's arguable if the Heresy would've gotten to Terra.
You’re probably right, the only issue would be if he and Dorn would be able to coexist trying to run defenses, but the Traitor’ Legion’s offensive capabilities and willingness to work together would have diminished so much quicker without him.

He did not took this decision lightly tough. In the EATD part 3 he was enraged and furious. It is also in this time that it seem that he would decide to seek to become a demon prince.
This part is actually really interesting. Horus let him have the floor a lot at the start but when their ego all took them they just focused on Perty's flaws. Had they just listened to him and didnt let their boredom get to them, they probably would've won None of the others would have ever been able to take terra
I do honestly think that if they weren't all practically rabid dogs by that point, with Pertuabo's lead, the palace would have fallen in half the time.
Mortarion and Angron had only one tactic but slightly different in execution. It was "Go forward." The only difference is that Angron's marines ran faster. Fulgrim had completely abandoned the concept of tactics altogether. The Nightlords were useless in a fight against other marines because they had no discipline making them effectively the same as Fulgrim's forces. The Alpha Legion were so obsessed with having over-complicated plans that they literally lost the plot and didn't know what they were doing half the time. Instead of joining the siege they were away making sure that Guilliman would or wouldn't arrive in time but not really... The Wordbearers, Sons of Horus and Iron Warriors were the only ones that were even slightly competent and the chaos worshipping double-traitors of Lorgar weren't even there. Lorgar ran away before the siege even began after pulling a Starscream and failing to become leader of the decepticons. Somehow they were winning there for a couple of hours...against a numerically inferior foe...and with superior weaponry. Buncha Clowns.
I'm impressed that the whole fourth legion (iirc) followed. Idk if that was the gene-coded loyalty or the rank and file saw this as wasteful and saw the retreat as pragmatic.
Literally all of peturabos actions (besides the bullshit he did to his own legion) we’re actually completely justified. Basically a better siegemaster than dorn but not pretty enough so he was the tool and dorn was the advertisement. Having all your sons getting killed constantly without any actual reward from the emperor is justified. Even konrad got some emperor and me time that crazy fuck. Perturabo could also see the eye of terror always and understood everything. My headcannon is he doesn’t hate the emperor nore the imperium but understood that due to his abilities he would never be able to remain satisfied or even sane bc he would constantly have new ideas to improve the imperium, which I believe the emperor would ignore in favor of his own plan.

He is a very relatable person, which is why people don't like him. He shows the unfortunate side of like even when you try really hard only to have it fuck up last second at someone else's action. The iron warriors are great because they get shit done. He's just been dealt the shifty hand of asshole foreman who has everyone up his arse to get the job done and never gets complimented or thanked. Which led to him being bitter and more blunt than a sledge hammer. Everyone one can relate to that mind set atleast once in their lives, he is just the extreme case of it becoming a permanent mindset and not a temporary one.
Any real gains that led to the traitors getting to the eternity gate at all were off Perty's back. everyone else was so fucked up on chaos bullshit that they were barely even contributing by this point, with the worst being the Emperors children who wearnt even really participating in the siege and instead were off fucking about on pointless raids on the civilian population

He is a very relatable person, which is why people don't like him. He shows the unfortunate side of like even when you try really hard only to have it fuck up last second at someone else's action. The iron warriors are great because they get shit done. He's just been dealt the shifty hand of asshole foreman who has everyone up his arse to get the job done and never gets complimented or thanked. Which led to him being bitter and more blunt than a sledge hammer. Everyone one can relate to that mind set atleast once in their lives, he is just the extreme case of it becoming a permanent mindset and not a temporary one.
Any real gains that led to the traitors getting to the eternity gate at all were off Perty's back. everyone else was so fucked up on chaos bullshit that they were barely even contributing by this point, with the worst being the Emperors children who wearnt even really participating in the siege and instead were off fucking about on pointless raids on the civilian population
