Age 63: Switched to WFPB 11/2020 .. lost 70lb, BMI:21, came off of all meds. Running 7mi/day. Took new body to Italy and skiid the Dolomites HARD for 6 days (8hrs/day, with nephew and super fit brother). New body performed PERFECTLY. Giving new body 5 stars on yelp review. Last time I was 152lb I was 23.
Thanks Chuck! I’ll be celebrating my 2 yr plant exclusive lifestyle soon..Thank you for the continued education, inspiration, and motivation. And thank you to PCRM for helping me not feel so isolated by the way we choose to eat!! So grateful ❤️
I was heading to lunch with a friend. I had it all decided on what I was going to have…not my best choice. I was listening to this podcast on the way to the restaurant. Guess what? I changed my order when I got there to a plant based option. Thanks for the reminder that we control what we put in our bodies!
Thank you! Great I information! I loved and appreciated this conversation so much and found it personally encouraging and motivating to continue and amp up my plant based journey.
People also should understand that if something healthy tastes a bit different like for example a healthy pasta and sauce vs an unhealthy pasta and sauce, that just because it is different doesn’t make it BAD, it’s just a little different so don’t expect the same
Agreed. For many I think it’s just gonna take time and repetition to “detox” our taste buds from all the sugar, fat, animal products etc. we’re used to. You’re right, the alternatives are never gonna taste the same…but that doesn’t make them bad, I think it means our bodies need time to adjust. Until then I’ll keep up the recipe trial and error and dealing with the irritability of not getting my hyper-palatable food fix lol.
actually, i ate light during the holidays, and was already doing a watery-fruit diet [total of 17 days on just fruit and some water fasting days] to bring in the new year! so i think new years is a great time to detox. of course the warm/sunny days are also a great and easy time to detox. of course, it is what you eat every day, over time that really creates [or not] vibrant health. detox is a great way to start a healthier diet though... your tastes change and you don't need salt on foods anymore, and simpler, fresher foods taste better to you... and fat will make you sick. so yeah. i feel great and ready to take the next step in my long-term diet.
Julieanna is so beautiful, what gorgeous skin. Handsome Chuck and Jullieanna both have such a healthy glow. When pressured by people to eat the unhealthy food I just tell them it causes me inflammation and I don't want to suffer the consequences and be in pain the next day. They seem to understand that better than using the weight or general unhealthy for me excuse.
I like to make my rewards something other than food. and just accomplishing it is a reward to me - self praise is a great 'reward' as is time off for fun.
If you are afraid of falling off the wagon, don't have the cookie. I am that person. All or nothing. In my case, it's not about the food. It's not about "why" as Julieanna is suggesting for me. My block is the "why" I continually make poor food choices. I have done WFPB by will power for 2 months. Lost 18 pounds in the first month and felt fabulous. Then something happened, forget what, and I headed for a burger. At the end of this podcast Chuck says, unless you are ready nothing will make it work. I agree. I wish you all the best on your journey.
I find the most difficult is sitting down to dine with family or friends who are heavy meat, cheese, and sweets eater's and they criticize my not eating those foods followed by their pressuring me.
Nice talk. I see I need to buy a book to get some of this healthy yet delicious food. I wonder if her recipes are like most "healthy delicious food" recipes whose ingredients cost a fortune and take an hour and a half of my time in preparation from the 3 hours of free time I have between getting home from work and going to sleep? Part of my problem with a lot of recipes, health or not is the waste. Use 1/4 of this and half of that. With fresh veggies in particular, you better use them the next day or throw them out. Can I get a vegan ribeye steak? I do appreciate that she says she isn't going to bully anyone into change. Maybe one day if a 'why' comes up for me I will look her up.
I blanche and freeze extra veggies except for salad greens, and the blanching water is a delicious base for soups. Some such as shredded carrots, cabbage, etc, can be frozen raw.
I just have to put this out there, being vegan is a complete lifestyle, it’s not a diet. Vegans can be just as unhealthy as someone who eats the sad diet. Eating a WFPB diet is strictly a diet choice. One can be vegan and eat a WFPB diet, and one can eat a WFPB diet and still use animals and products from them in other parts of their life.
Question: How will going vegan affect my health if I have a clot? I want to start veganism but I am worried about this clot that I have on my thigh which I got after a knee surgery 😐 can someone help?
I would suggest instead of going vegan (which can include unhealthy high fat and/or processed ingredients) look into a WFPB (whole food plant based) lifestyle. My husband and I (61 & 60) will eat this way for the rest of our lives. Search on UA-cam and you’ll be amazed and inspired ♥️
Lost 80 lbs eating a WFPB...then got lured...innocently enough with eating vegan chips....turned into full blown vegan junk food junkie. I have BED and I'm up to 205 lbs again and damn I need a reset BAD.
I love this show but i hate when chuck makes people feed bad for cheat days and meals . I eat a WFPD 6 days a week and eat vegan junk food one day a week. It’s literally the motivation to continue the other 6 days. Comparing it to an alcoholic is not fair imo.
I have been eating vegan junk food and it's all how much you have. I have maintained a 80 lbs weight loss eating vegan junk food. I just do yoga and walk 3 miles a day. Everybody just has to make it work and I have a hard time believing that people do not indulge in vegan junk food occasionally. I'm with you 100%
When you’re not used to seeing the positive effect proper nutrition can have on how people look (including glowing, healthy looking skin that’s plump with hydration), you can be excused for assuming that affect can only be achieved artificially. Not sure what would excuse your sarcasm though…

I switched 10-15-20 at age 60 also! I've lost 100 pounds. Way to go!

Greetings from México. I am her fan. Great guest!

"Dive in cold tofu." I love that!
I didn't understand the answer at 8:18? I'm also scared of falling of the wagon for 1 cookie , so what to do??

Thank you. Great topic.
Love this conversations, thank you 😊
People need to stop being so worried about judgement. I find just saying No thanks and then if asked why tell the truth. If they don’t like it too bad
Exactly!
I find the most difficult is sitting down to dine with family or friends who are heavy meat, cheese, and sweets eater's and they criticize my not eating those foods followed by their pressuring me.
@@m.taylor I know. Nobody should tell you when and how to eat.
Eh I'd go with Dr. McDougall's approach...the starch solution....
First time but that's an achievement. The receipts. 50 POWER.
What keeps me from sliding back? The abuse of animals. No temptation at all,, ever!!!!

I cook in batches so I get 2-4 meals from the recipe. It helps me. It’s a process.
I blanche and freeze extra veggies except for salad greens, and the blanching water is a delicious base for soups. Some such as shredded carrots, cabbage, etc, can be frozen raw.
@@m.taylor I will have to look up "blanching" lol! Thanks for the suggestion!
Stay away from restaurants.

Hope you can find your "HEAL THY" SELF again. Bless you.
Vicious cycle in a good way… wouldn’t that be a virtuous cycle? (Vice/virtue)
So, I'm not broken it's the food. Because my "Why" isn't strong enough, doesn't that mean I am broken?
No, it just means that you need to find a stronger why
You’re not broken if you’re here looking for ways to find healthy foods😊
and when you become vegan FOR THE ANIMALS, then there's no way possible to enjoy that "treat" anymore.
Very much so!
Health vegan cook at home mostly.

And you are also right about comparing to an alcoholic because an alcoholic does not need alcohol to survive but we do need food to survive
I don't think she understands your question.
She's not very convincing when she can't even think of one of her favorite healthy dishes.
Someone needs a detox from botox
What a dumb comment.

You’ve been teaching something for 17!years that you still can not do??? The end,
