The 1983 US Marshals shootout with "right wing tax protester" Gordon Kahl in Medina, ND and the manhunt that subsequently followed tracking him into Arkansas on a friend's farm where the FBI and other agencies set fire to the farmhouse killing Gordon Kahl.
He's been lauded as a hero by some and a villain by others. Was he a man pushed too far who stood up to his perceived oppressors, or a murderous right wing extremist??

I mean that's not particularly true. There are Black Panthers who were convicted of shooting at police out now. The terrorist that did the London embassy siege that survived are out now too. There are people who served in ADX supermax for terrorism that have been released. None of these people came from particularly wealthy families. In Japan all those kids who tortured and murdered Junko Furuta are all out too. Same with the kids that murdered Silvia Marie Lykens, one of them even became a school teacher. Justice is just a fickle ass thing. Sometimes people get it, other times people don't.

Bombings, hijackings, bank robberies, hostage takings, assassinations of public figures - it was constant all over the world. Would you consider doing a video on the University of TX tower shooting? I find it so interesting (and sad) that the killer himself suspected a physical reason for his splitting headaches and sudden homicidal thoughts, to the point of asking to be autopsied after his death. And sure enough, they found a brain tumor that COULD potentially explain both.

Kurt Russell played Charles Whitman in the1975 movie "The Deadly Tower." That movie got a lot of things wrong. Houston McCoy and Ray Martinez, the police officers who shot Whitman, both sued MGM. Martinez sued because he felt he and his family were portrayed in a manner that perpetuated Hispanic stereotypes. His wife wasn't pregnant, and her ethnic background was German-American, not Hispanic-American. A disclaimer at the beginning of the movie reads: "Both the character and personality of Ramiro Martinez' wife and certain scenes about the Martinez family have been fictionalized for dramatic effect." They completely left Houston McCoy out of the movie and he was the cop who shot Whitman. There is a better semi-animated documentary called "The Tower" that does a better job on this story.

And the reason for the riot? Because a private bus company announced they would increase the price of the tickets to 30 cents when it used to cost 20 cents...all of that for just 10 cents.

If I was the kidnapper I would assume that was a ploy to try to escape. The only reasoning I can imagine for why they would trust her with a weapon after so little time was because they knew she was on thier side from the beginning. After the main group dying in the fire there was no one who could contradict the "stockholm syndrome" excuse.

She was probably seduced and had the same political beliefs as they did but the whole thing is just so gross. I can't even imagine it, like nightmare scenario, really shows why you gotta raise your daughters, not only to think for themselves and not be easily swayed by others, but also with strong core values that build in them a deep resentment of criminal behavior.
I feel like i see young girls fall into this trap of sympathizing with the bad guys a lot nowadays too, and i feel like it happens not just because they were raised without strong morals but also because they've never been a victim of crime before, so as a result they don't know how dangerous and stupid these people are and end up sympathizing with them because they're "bored" with safety, if that makes sense.

Or just do it like china and middle east does and just abort or give away every daughter. Way easier than having your own bloodline having a 75% chance of turning against you and even ruin your families name anyway

it's a story as old as time, it's a pretty recurring trope in entertainment media as well,"Daddy's good girl goes crazy"

What a load of nonsense, first of all you're point about sTrOnG mOrAl vAlUes is just rubbish, strong core values and morals is having the intelligence and empathy to understand why people commit crimes in the first place and not just label them bad people and generalize based on your pre conceived notions.
secondly criminals need help not resentment, the vast majority of criminals don't commit crime because they are just bad people choosing to do bad things, criminality is largely a socioeconomic issue and heavily driven by mental and physical health issues, only a statistical minoritiy of criminals are just bad people who enjoy doing bad things.
It's why punishing criminals with prison doesn't work, criminality needs therapy and support, it's why countries that have some of the lowest prison populations per capita and lowest re offending rates in proportion along with general low crime rates are countries that rarely give out long sentences, have great Rehabilitation and prevention programs and treat prisoners with compassion.
You have such a simplistic child like view of things, you just view all criminals as being bad, this is not representative of reality, this is coming from an ex criminal, real life is majority grey, it's not black and white, also stupidity has largely nothing to do with criminality, just like culture (culture of crime is driven by external factors) doesn't either.

@@TheSMR1969 You're exactly who I'm referring to in my comment lol, i speak and the prime example is provided for me in the replies, it's like being proven right in real time, it feels good. So, I could just say "too long, didn't read" to your post because it isn't worth my time giving an actual reply, but I might as well at least try I guess and give a long reply in return since i might be able to actually help you... so listen, It's not your fault you're like this, you're just easily manipulated by political brainwashing and the media and such, its actually your father's fault for not raising someone who can resist such obviously toxic ideologies.
And don't be mistaken, there is no more toxic an ideology than criminal sympathy. I recognize crime is a socioeconomic issue, that doesn't mean what they're doing isn't wrong. You sympathize with the perpetrators but people like you never think about the victims, because you've never been one, and crimes ALWAYS have a victim, someone suffering because of the criminal's actions, by sympathizing and humanizing them, you enable them and they'll take full advantage. I'm assuming you've dated a few criminals in your life with a reply like that, you know a drug dealer or whatever, thought they were cool, you like the "allure" of danger, you know... and I bet every single one ultimately has taken advantage of you in some way, used you, etc.
They don't need help, they need punishment to correct their bad behavior and to punish them for their wrong-doings. It's not meant to "rehabilitate" them, never was. Solving the problem isn't what we care about, seeing people who hurt others suffer and receive karmic retribution for their actions is more important. Simple as that. The leftist take you possess is genuinely a result of not having the moral values I talked about growing up and I hope you realize that before it's too late. And look, If you're still reading, I recommend just watching some video of criminals actually committing crimes, police bodycams, cctv footage, whatever, please just watch some! It's all over YT and It'll change your perspective, it certainly changed mine. Seeing evil on full display made me realize that the people you're defending don't care, they don't care about you sticking up for them, or me insulting them, nobody, they just want the $50 in your wallet so they can smoke crack again and they'll kill you to get it. The only time they would care is when you make the "it's actually the system's fault, system bad, system racist." argument because it alleviates them of personal responsibility for their actions and allows them to continue wronging others unimpeded, which is what they really want.
Ik these "opinions" of yours aren't your own, you didn't form them yourself, they were told to you by an establishment figure, like by your university professor because they're the mainstream opinions to have now, why? Because the people telling you want to ruin our country and what better way to do that than to convince you to root for the bad guys, even though there are plenty of good people in the world doing good things you could stick up for instead. But It's not too late to change, you can do it too, as I did. Just watch some footage, see how people really are, and you'll lose that empathy real quick.

@@thekamotodragon Dang. You make some good points. Too bad we can't see the post you're responding to is gone. I have seen plenty of times when upper-middle class kids become rebels looking for a cause and eat whatever BS a so-called "authority figure" is feeding them. They have little to no life experiences and think that they know how to run everyone else's life, by force if necessary. They have very limited value to society and usually end up in a few careers. Unemployed and on welfare, criminals that justify their actions as being for the cause, professors with tenure (so they can't be fired for spouting non-sense), woke corporate infiltrators (human resources, policy enforcers), and politicians and bureaucrats that can sell unfulfilled promises to emotional and dumb voters. Also the racketeers that coerce money out of people like Al Sharpton like mafia bosses. "That's a nice company you have there. It would be a shame if something bad happened to it. You wouldn't want people protesting it on the news. Think of the customers you would lose. Buy this BS I'm selling and put me on the board and this can be avoided."
