Thank you! My husband owns a tire shop and on occasion I have to pull tires to run to him on the side of the interstate. After accidentally bringing a steer in place of a drive yesterday, I decided I best educate myself on which is which and why. 🙈
Good on you for putting in the effort. I used to work in auto part sales & it was a daily occurrence for a pissed off drunk husband to come in threatening to kill everyone for "refusing to sell his wife a part" after he sent his wife in 30min beforehand without her even knowing what the vehicle was.
Useful video for some ppl who not familiar! I had guy at TA installed used steer tire on my drive axle. What a dummy he didn't know it has less traction
Good morning this Marauder man from Florida, Thank you Chase for sharing your knowledge and experience I know a lot of the stuff but the extra knowledge and experience helps👌👍👍
I thought constellation tires were Indian tires since there from Thailand do yours say China? Mine say Thailand I looked it up and it's classified as an Indian tire
All tires prices are going up soooo drivers better purchase tires ASAP. After Trump spoke about Chinese importing goods. Spoke with a local shop were I live his tires prices went up 80-100 dollars depending on brand however, I purchase my tires from distributor
We have found that the Firestone FS 561 holds up really well on a spread-axle trailer, not an expensive tire but not the cheapest either same with their FD 690 drive tire holds up good on the drive axles
On steers we run BF Goodrich on the Pete that's gets the best mileages on the IH an freightliner we have to either Firestone or brigestones. As for drives it's either Roadmaster or Hercules with good luck so for for the last 5 years
If I have good and even tread depth on my front drive axle, but all used tires on the back axle, would it be overrated to buy 8 new drives? Other option would be to just buy 4 new tires for the rear drive axle.
@@LifeWithChase I imagine the rings make up for any slight dynamic imbalance in the rest of the rotating assembly, which can change with miles, temperature and time.
Daniel Bryant We run motorcoaches where a smooth ride is important and we don’t balance any of them. A high quality tire like Toyo or Michelin usually don’t require balancing.
When I was a kid our school busses had Goodyear Super Hi-Miler on the steering axle, but the rear had retreads that looked like a turf tire found on lawn mowers. Does anybody know what that tread design was called? It was super common back then in the 80's. Later on they got Goodyear Unisteel 2 in front and Unisteel TD on the dive axle.
What up bro : I would like to know if based on Your Experience , Could We use the Low-Pro 22.5 inches as the "One Sizes fits all / Standar Tyre ... For Trailers" ? Thanks For Fedback , Jorge.
Can you use trailer tires for driver tires??? Jw bc i have super singles and have buddy that's wants to swap his trailer tires for my singles bc he does pneumatics so wants less weight.....
Uhm..."PR" is not nessesaeilly the mominal quantiy of plies but rather are it is a "strength equivalency" rating of modern tires relative to back-in-the-day cotton pky buas tires.
My two dry van trailers have my old Firestone 591 steers on them. Good way to run them out and save cash. Good tip Chase

Do you have to balance 19.5 steer tires
we have been running constelation china steer tires out of our first pallet of 8 probably 4 were sent back in 15000 miles tread splitting
yeah I don't trust them for steers. trailers and drives I've had decent luck

I don't blame you on not running recaps. I wish they would ban those in the south.
yep the're junk. they wanna nit pick safety this safety that but yet those things are legal somehow...
Amen

Yelp and rotate every 25k or 30k miles
Great video.. lots of info for us begainers
Great tire video!
Do you balance any tire other than the steers?
I don't even balance steers just run balancer rings
@@LifeWithChase I imagine the rings make up for any slight dynamic imbalance in the rest of the rotating assembly, which can change with miles, temperature and time.
we have six trucks and six flat beds and we dont balance any of our tires either
Daniel Bryant We run motorcoaches where a smooth ride is important and we don’t balance any of them. A high quality tire like Toyo or Michelin usually don’t require balancing.
i have an older f350, can i put trailer tires on my steer? since the regular LT steers dont last that long
I have, but they cup pretty quick so you have to rotate all six, regularly.
Very informative
Thank You 😊

Yes,but you would have little traction if you get off the pavement and they generally won't last as long.
I run FS591s and having good luck with them.
Hi guys. I have 22.5 11R drives can I put 22.5 Low Pro on steering?????
Yes sir
Really good video
I'm changing my steer to FireStone and will see how many miles I get
wonder why tires are so much more expensive in america, for 350 bucks you get a decent quality tire here and we run bigger tires.
Buen video 🤠👍

Thank you!!!!
I know the bus I drive have 11r22.5/295 tires
Thanks!
Awesome !
🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
Don't use Chinese tire. Bad for safety and very expensive for what you get out of.
