It's that time of the year! July 27th* (I said 28th in the video :/) was my 5-year hormone replacement therapy anniversary! In this video I talk about:
1. All the Changes I Noticed on HRT (1:08)
2. Changes from Within the Last Year including body comparisons (3:12)
3. Answering Your Questions! (6:00)
Questions Answered:
1. How long should you be on hormone replacement therapy before having surgery?
2. Is HRT painful?
3. Does HRT eliminate gender dysphoria?
4. How much does HRT cost?
5. Will hormone replacement therapy feminize this part of my body?
thank you for watching!! xoxo
As a straight dude on HRT to keep my hormones in the ideal range, I owe it to trans folks for normalizing the idea of HRT. Urologists wouldn't be as progressive as they are with HRT if it wasn't for others who had blazed the trail. Best wishes for a positive journey, and take good care all.
It’s great to hear your appreciation! It’s crazy how much trans people helped pave the way for modern healthcare today.
Soleftimright i think you meant cis guy right ? But very good message !
_ Tomitomo Yes. That’s important information that I left out. Everyone was very understanding luckily.

@Lazy MSP I'm happy to be one. My background is in nursing and healthcare, and while I'm not perfect, I deeply care about people and thier health. Thank you for acknowledging my intentions and for forgiving my short comings. I'm doing my best. Best wishes to you, yours, and anyone this deep in the comments. :)
I call the day I started on HRT my “rebirth day”
Hope it all continues to go well.
I like that one!
I want to laugh but not sure if this is meant to be a joke.

I love that omg
Maybe I’ll use that when I get an actual binder

@@_samanthalux Just curious... did you research the chemical BPA BEFORE you started any of this? May I suggest you Google this KEY and read CAREFULLY: BPA+Artificial Estrogen+Gay I think ALL of you have an excellent CLASS ACTION RICO LAWSUIT.
@B N9476 Abstract
Bisphenol A (BPA) is an estrogenic endocrine disruptor widely used in the production of plastics. Increasing evidence indicates that in utero BPA exposure affects sexual differentiation and behavior; however, the mechanisms underlying these effects are unknown. We hypothesized that BPA may disrupt epigenetic programming of gene expression in the brain. Here, we provide evidence that maternal exposure during pregnancy to environmentally relevant doses of BPA (2, 20, and 200 µg/kg/d) in mice induces sex-specific, dose-dependent (linear and curvilinear), and brain region-specific changes in expression of genes encoding estrogen receptors (ERs; ERα and ERβ) and estrogen-related receptor-γ in juvenile offspring. Concomitantly, BPA altered mRNA levels of epigenetic regulators DNA methyltransferase (DNMT) 1 and DNMT3A in the juvenile cortex and hypothalamus, paralleling changes in estrogen-related receptors. Importantly, changes in ERα and DNMT expression in the cortex (males) and hypothalamus (females) were associated with DNA methylation changes in the ERα gene. BPA exposure induced persistent, largely sex-specific effects on social and anxiety-like behavior, leading to disruption of sexually dimorphic behaviors. Although postnatal maternal care was altered in mothers treated with BPA during pregnancy, the effects of in utero BPA were not found to be mediated by maternal care. However, our data suggest that increased maternal care may partially attenuate the effects of in utero BPA on DNA methylation. Overall, we demonstrate that low-dose prenatal BPA exposure induces lasting epigenetic disruption in the brain that possibly underlie enduring effects of BPA on brain function and behavior, especially regarding sexually dimorphic phenotypes.
I was just thinking that one too well actually transiversary but I guess I was on the right track.
i’m not trans myself ( i am apart of the lgbqt community tho ) but i really enjoy watching your content. it’s fun to learn more about the trans community
Same. I am lgbt but not trans but it’s really cool to figure out what surgery and hrt is like and seeing transitions happen.
I want to know more about trans things but I don't want to be rude asking friends, it is my job to get educated. And also I learn how hormones interact with our bodies better than at school and can relate as a cis woman
Straight ally here, and yes, same!
As someone in the transgender community it makes me so happy for people to learn more!
same but im les
Cis male here, this is really informative. I had genuinely no idea that there would still be such noticeable changes so long after someone started on hormones. Really helps open my eyes to the journey trans people go on. Thanks for this!
thank you for educating yourself!
Their journey is a dead end, because after all the hormones and surgery they are still the gender / sex they were born as. They should save their money or give it to charity instead. That's something that will REALLY make a difference to someone's life !
Warms my soul to hear this from a. Cis man, you’re awesome ❤
i was also stumped by this at first, but it makes sense when you consider that starting hormones is basically just a second puberty. most pubescent girls, for instance, won’t experience all the changes of puberty only a year or two after puberty starts, so it makes sense that it would take a few years for trans women to experience it all
You’re seriously one of the prettiest girls I’ve ever seen 🥰

@@alankrebs856 ??? Okay, and it's relevance to the topic at hand?
gucci g0at the artificial hormones you guys are using are dangerous to your health. He’s telling you this to help you (possibly for a lawsuit), but it’s also kinda funny

The pain around the nipple when your breasts first started to grow is actually a normal thing for girls to experience, even if they are girls at birth and it’s not just the hormones. When I first started to grow my breasts at the age of nine, I felt that pain too so it’s normal for all girls, not just trans girls. Just a fun fact!
It is more painful if you aren't wearing a bra to keep them from moving up and down.
@Kali Evelynn I’m praying for you and I hope this changes your life for the better. Stay safe okay? Huggies!!💞
@@daviniarobbins9298 yeah, I would wear training bras
@Kali Evelynn You too!
@Kali Evelynn Wish you luck!
It's amazing how far we've come with science. Hundreds of years ago people may have never thought about being able to change you appearance and body in such a way as this.
That's why it's so disheartening to compare the enthusiasm people had about transition in theory to transphobic rhetoric today.
Well yes, but not far enough to actually turn a man into a woman or a woman into a man. That's still quite a challenge for genetic biology to turn each of a person's cells into a different gender. That will be the day!
Tens of ears ago.
@@elputas If you're talking about retroactively changing DNA, that wont happen for a long time if ever. But, on the bright side, it isnt really necessary. I mean, its not as if you can read someone's chromosomes by looking at them. Secondary characteristics like body, face, breasts, etc are how we identify gender, not chromosomes.
They had ancient ways of feminization. Castration and certain herbs but yes its a 180 in that way now
I'm so proud of you and what you're doing for your happiness
We
Right now I am a 14 year old boy and want to be a girl I've wanted to be a girl since I was 5 years old I wore dresses to school because I felt good in them because thats the true me not the sad boy that won't look in a mirror or have a picture taken because I hate my body I want brasts I want an ass and hips and long hair because thats the true me but my mum ignores me but I am going to the doctor in October so there might be some hope
You most certainly are *NOT* a boy. You’re gorgeous, girl, and good luck on your journey! I hope that you’re able to transition like you want to.
I hope you are able to get help from professionals who accept and understand who you are. I'm obviously not saying this is the same thing or anything, but I'm a 16 year old girl who basically looks like a 12 year old boy- so hating your body and wanting to look more feminine is often one of the most feminine things to feel. Just remember that you have your whole life ahead of you to be who you want to be without your parent interfering, and there are tons of little things you can do right now to try to express your true self.
Good luck! I hope everything goes well!
you cant just say your a girl. your a BOY.
Broken songs fuck off.
7:12 so im not a transgirl, im just a cisgirl but what you describe with the breasts its actually very similar to what cisgirls experience going through puberty, when the breast starts to grow, its mostly extremely sensitive and it starts with that little ball of tissue as well sometimes it really hurts a lot
you are not just a "cis girl" you are a WOMAN. Dont use made up words. Women are in the majority, trans are in the minority, they have the different name not the women.
@@sharonsmith2771 Cis is is just the opposite of the word trans in latin.
You may want to use it to make the difference in conversations about transidentisy as "women" includes all women. You're still a woman, transwomen are still women.
@@sharonsmith2771 let's say someone made a video about their experience as a black woman who works at a grocery store. you are white (hypothetically) and also work at a grocery store. when commenting on the video about your experience, you would say "i'm white but....". that doesn't mean that either of you aren't women.
When you make the decision to start transition
You.break the mold that has governed you most of your life what you need to do is accept it
The responsibility of the community is to mentor you on you way.. but don't expect much I'm still struggling myself with no help m
Dont even own anypanties or bras no one is willing to teach me
Yeah I definitely wish I could’ve accepted myself earlier so that I could’ve started on hrt before puberty
Yeah...not the only one
WaaAAAaaaa
Don’t blame yourself. Everything will come into place at the right time. I thought that too, but tbh now is the right time for me because I had a lot to go through. T saved my life!
I'm not. FTM I hate having gone through female puberty but I haven't had a fully flat chest since I was only about nine years old, got my period at 12...puberty was basically finished by 15. Point is I was a literal child while all this was happening and I wasn't in any position to make these kind of choices. I would have had to start hormones when I was like 8 if I wanted to avoid going through puberty, and that's just crazy. No one that young can make permanent life choices.
@@Potatopot724 yeah that's the point of hormone blockers, delay puberty until you're old enough to choose stuff
Ahhhhhh, it's my favorite time of the day when one of my favorite UA-camr comes on

Samantha... You're a freaking Goddess!!! I love you so much! You're so beautiful and... Just have the most chill and honest approach to MTF Transition. I, myself, have struggled with my own acceptance for 30 years and even pulled the trigger a tiny bit a couple years ago by DIYing estrogen (I know!) and for quite some time I was once again back and forth on the decision. Since maybe about a year ago I've slowly been adapting more towards the woman I've always been inside but only just slightly. Apparently I let it slip to basically everyone in my life (I can only assume that might've been a subconscious move) which at first made me feel nervous and scared, but watching your videos and listening to your own experience and everything has truly really helped. I know you started back when you were 17 (I wish I was brave enough to start back then) I still haven't fully begun transitioning and I just turned 38, however I have noticed specific changes (especially in the "down there" area). I've even quite often been told by a few that they've noticed some slightly more feminine features on me. Anywho, LONG story short, I would really appreciate and value any insight you might have/be willing to share with me
I'm about 6 months on HRT myself. Sometimes it's just nice to get an idea of what more there is to look forward to (I feel like progress is only subtle at this point). All the same you look beautiful and you have a fantastic voice. Perhaps I'll see more (but for the moment I'm worried someone may see this in my search history).

Honestly, people just need to watch this channel to learn about trans issues. Such great content!
I know this has nothing to do with the video but YOUR HAIR and YOUR MAKE UP is so gooooooooood I can't even-
It's amazing how different everyone's experience on HRT is! I could feel my breast buds by the end of week two and was a C/C+ cup at six months (4 months pills, two months injections of EC)
I really wish I did that method (switching off pills after a certain tanner stage), but oh well lol
@Francesca Jensen - Wow that’s amazing 😮 my doctor gave me options but I decided to start with pills as I was hesitant about side effects of injections. Would you recommend it?
@@SG-kk9ek I highly recommend injections over pills and they are really easy to do - just make sure you have 18 gage needles to draw and 25ga needles to inject - the only time it will hurt is if you hit a nerve (i haven't hit one yet but sooner or later it will happen). Also ask about a prescription for progesterone. I don't k ow if it makes a difference, but I was prescribed estradiol cypionate and not estradiol valerate. My measurements were taken many times to verify my results and they always om op t the same. It's absolutely mind-blowimg. I'm sure that part of it is genetic as my mother was large breastfed and so is my sister. You can find me on Instagram and Facebook if you want more info ... best wishes on your journey!
I've been on hormones 18 months and haven't that much success. I started on patches for one year, then pushed it up to gel (5mg) then pushed for 10mg pills and sadly that's the end of the road for me
I just don't feminize as fast though I do have noticeable B cups
edit: I would go injections but there's already a lot of pushback because I pushed for changing it twice and the current "crisis" has also stalled out everything. then there's getting hair removal (everywhere....)
@@thevashfan12392 Wow, I am sorry about the pushback - It seems if series of meds isn't performing, your doctor should let you explore other forms of medication. Injections only hit your liver once while pills hit it twice. Has your doctor been running bloodwork on you? If so, has your doctor been checking your E1 and E2 levels separately? What about your T levels?
There is a DEFINITE difference in the two pictures. You have more hips in the second. GO GET IT GIRL!!

great video as always queen. and i really look forward to being able to see changes like this in the future when i can start a medical transition. inspirational, ily! < 3
Super informative video. You're personality is so cute.
Im a cis male and I'm into bodybuilding, this video is actually really interesting because pretty much all guys in bodybuilding do the same thing but with testosterone and other androgenic compounds (illegally, unfortunately). A lot of guys that do that have similar effects to yours because the enzymes in your body aromatize testosterone, which creates estrogen as a by-product. So most bodybuilders have really high estrogen levels and experience the same effects as you.
I am a cis female and I am currently on hormone therapy because my progesterone and estrogen levels are way out of alignment. I have something called PCOS, which is an endocrine disorder. Because of this, I have something called hirsutism, which gives me male-pattern body hair. So, in a lot of ways, I understand a little bit about how awful this is. I couldn't even imagine the full impact of gender dysphoria, but I am so glad you were able to take the person you were on the inside and make that what everyone sees on the outside.
I love watching your videos! I'm not trans myself, but my brother is! ( ftm) I know its a completely different journey but i do enjoy learning more about it.

I'm a 16 year old girl (who kinda looks like a 12 year old boy) and she looks more like a woman than I COULD EVER. 😂 I do have to say I've always been jealous of male born people's eyelashes and how fast their hair grows- but that obviously doesn't make up for all the other stuff trans women have to deal with.
Well about the lashes part, it has been shown that male born people have longer lashes than female born people for some reason
@@Val17282 perhaps because the male with his more muscles in his body was back then the one responsible for hunting the food and the lashes are a form of protection for water that comes from above.
At least that's what I would think. I'm not saying I'm right tho...
