Best UV Lights for Yooperlites - PART TWO
This is my review of four of the flashlights from the ALONEFIRE brand - I found that they are great quality for a great price! Even after all of my reviews and purchases (including the Convoy C8) my pick still remains as the Alonefire 12W UV 365nm light: www.amazon.com/Alonefire-Flashlight-Rechargeable-Ultraviolet-Blacklight/dp/B08LBDX3HG
I started hunting Yooperlites last winter and it just catches on to you! They are fun and exciting to find, but it helps when you have the right UV light - and what you need is a black light filtered 365nm spectrum UV light. This is just to help point you in the right direction if you are new to finding Yooperlites and want a good head start.

Kayaking at Juniper Springs, in the Ocala National Forest. This is quite possibly the best kayak trail in all of Florida. It has a bit of everything to see and enjoy from springs to wildlife. And yes, there is a small section of rapids that exist there. They are at the 5 mile mark on the river.

    The biggest problem is that the Alonefire battery only lasts for about 12 minutes with the one battery... The UVBeast lats 36 minutes with the included expansion tube. I don't know about you, but I don't want to have to keep changing batteries while I'm hunting!

      You are wrong. I run my lights CONSTANTLY for over 2+ hours without turning them off. What are you talking about only getting 12 minutes??? It sounds like you have a bad battery or faulty light.

    🔦 I purchased the Lumenshooter S3 back in March after I went to the Kettle Moraine Rock Gem & Mineral Show and discovered Yooperlites for the first time. And I forgot I bought it! 🔦 Last year I had bought a very small weak UV flashlight, not for rocks, but for discovery of uranium or Vaseline glass items. I wanted a small purse-size light to take with me to antique malls, flea markets, thrift stores, or estate sales, and at that time, I knew nothing about "365nm", or the special lenses the more expensive ones come with, and what a difference it makes. 🔦 So, a couple weeks ago at the Wisconsin Geological Society Show in Waukesha, I spoke to a vendor about the Yooperlites he had on display at the show, and I had my little UV flashlight out, and he brought out his Covoy C8 365nm UV LED with Patented Glass Filter and showed me the difference - I felt like I had discovered the Holy Grail 🤩🔦! On Amazon, it was $90 😬😵‍💫, however, with Amazon Prime, you earn points with purchases, and I had been saving up points for a long time, so I had more than enough points to splurge. (Until a couple days ago, I still hadn't remembered I bought the Lumenshooter) I had great fun showing my partner how Yooperlites turn to molten fire with the flashlights as I had picked up several pieces - a couple small obelisks at the rock shows and a couple of spheres on Etsy. I also remembered my little bowl of Ruby in Zoisite spheres and that they glow beautifully too, although they barely glow with the regular UV light but really come alive with the 365nm filtered lights. But as I was looking closely at the UV lights on my collection of rocks and crystals, I noticed that many of them ✨️✨️ sparkled ✨️ , tiny tiny sparkles on just about everything and I thought WOW! what a discovery! I almost called Donald over to say LOOK LOOK!! Look at how they sparkle under the UV light!....... Until I suddenly had a pail of cold water splashed onto my face and I realized what sparkled was DUST 🤪 OMG how embarrassing. We live near several Lannon Stone quarries, and a developer bought the woods next to our house and have torn up all the trees to build a subdivision (😢😡) and with all the dump trucks and big equipment, I can't keep up with the dusting. So ya, uh, dust glows real well under UV lights, it's not my Herkimer Diamond and Shungite and Pietersite glittering! 😂 Stairway To Heaven teaches us that not all that glitters is gold! 😊 To wind up this long story (sorry) I enjoyed your video very much, it was informative. I haven't had the chance to get to any beach after dark yet. We're 18 miles from Lake Michigan, and I do wish the beaches were as prolific as Lake Superior for sodalite, or so I've heard, but I'm still anxious to give it a shot! Happy Rockhounding Everybody!

    A good review if you are searching for rocks in your apartment. How do they work in the field? I'm not a supporter of UVBeast but other reviews talk about how much throw it has which can be important if you are out walking in a field or on a beach full of rocks. My understanding is that it can catch colours at a distance to make you pay attention to certain rocks. Or for those who want it for insects (or worse scorpions) then you can see the critters at a further distance.

    Great video! You sold me on the Alonefire. I'm trying out the SV47 because it can use an alternate power source and has a tripod mount. It appears it may use a different LED element, so we'll see. And after a year report says you like the "Whale" the "D22", what is that? I'm thinking you meant the SV18 and glad to see your beer choice s not that other one.

    Ya well you can go cheep or get a uv beast and have a life long true 365 and see Invisible, ink and paint or go cheap and it won't really work. And break in a cuppel years. You should also go to a vape shop and get a quality 1860 battery from home. Life or Sony just saying

      Well, given the fact that I purchased, used and reviewed about 10 different lights over the course of about 2 years, I would say that I have a valid leg to stand on for my reviews. And, by all means, make your own video reviews and publish them to UA-cam, or simply disregard what I say. At the end of the day don't get your feelers hurt and instead just buy whatever you want, bromigo.

    So from my understanding, the UVbeast is advertising better reach over the others. A distance test would have brought your video to a better conclusion in my opinion. How do all the lights you have in this video hold up to 60ft, as the UVBeast claims reach? May be why the UVBeast is priced at $79.. Just sayin.

    • @TheNawrockSTAR
      @TheNawrockSTAR 10 місяців тому

      I do not search 60ft ahead - nor do I know anyone who looks that far ahead. Most of our finds are within 5-10 feet and the wider throw of the flood light is a better application for this range than the narrow spot. Just my opinion - but I do realllllllllly well when my buddies and I are out on the beaches. Either way - I couldn't film 60 feet in my apartment regardless.

    We started finding sodalite in 2005 in the Keweenaw, long before the "fad" started. We would find hundreds of them each night. Of all the different UV lights we used over the years, the S3 Lumenshooters we bought for $30 each are the favorite one to use.

    It should be pointed out that you are not allowed to collect any rocks from any National Park like Pictured Rocks. You are also not allowed to collect rocks on the south east shore of Whitefish Point which is federal land owned by the Fish and Wildlife Dept. Rock collecting is fun, but everyone needs to know there are rules (My wife and I did not know that there were rules about where you can collect rocks from and how many pounds of rocks you are allowed to collect when we started rock collecting until we were kindly informed by a DNR officer).

    • @TheNawrockSTAR
      @TheNawrockSTAR 10 місяців тому

      Sure - but thats not what my video was about. Pretty much anyone going searching for them will (or at least should) do a little research first. I know I did - I read as much as I could about yooperlites before I went out searching and dropped money on a light.

      You are right, but buying something in a lower frequency band is not an easy task. Thats why most of the lights are 395nm - although 365nm is much better than that at least.

    Here's what you failed to say. UVBeast is an aluminum body and a metal UV cavity lamps internal polished cup. It's the quality. I'd like you to put the two Beast and the $30 one you liked throw them in a bag and tote them to the outside caverns rock hunting. In a couple years that $80 UVBeast will hold up and your $30 will show its shortcomings. Impressive talk on the surface

    • @TheNawrockSTAR
      @TheNawrockSTAR 10 місяців тому

      I dont know if we are disagreeing - but the Alone fire is all aluminum also, and the internals are stout. I have logged hundreds of hours of searching, dropping, water droplets, raining, cold, rolling around in my car, etc with these things - they are Beasts by them selves... I am going on 3 years with my original one.... and it was less than half the price.
