have you ever tried illamasqua? their skin base foundation has been my go to for years now and even as I'm getting older it still is perfect. I use it mixed in with a cheaper foundation for just day to day and it elevates every one I've tried and on its own for night time or fancier times. if you've never tried it, get some on black Friday or something because during that black Friday weekend it sometimes goes for nearly half the price and that way you can try it without spending alot. they also do little sachets actually for trying shades.
I just use the Wet & Wild photofocus in dewy and with elf grip primer and it makes me look 15 years younger (I'm 47). It doesn't stick to my under eye crepey-ness like matte foundation does and it's 7 bucks roughly and has worked better for me than the spendy ones on my older skin

I have combination skin and there are like 3 smashbox foundations they’ll have to pry from my cold dead hands when I die lol Truly though I’ve spent hundreds on high end foundation, I’ve bought dollar store foundation, and I’ve tried everything in between and smashbox for me is the only foundation I’ll even wear anymore. I usually do a tinted moisturizer foundation mix if I want lighter coverage and even doing my own makeup chem project smashbox still doesn’t disappoint or get clumpy or gritty or separate. I love their foundation truly. It’s a great company product wise.
I simply LOVE the look of glowy foundation!….for about 60 seconds… then all textured/patchy heII breaks loose on my face! The battle lines are immediately drawn, the pores always form an alliance with the oily t-zone. The “dry lands” on the outside perimeters of the t-zone, use some sort of _unholy alchemy_ to create dry/flaky skin that *definitely* didn’t exist 1 minute prior… The tip of the nose suddenly decides that it’s a “pacifist,” so it sheds all evidence of makeup ever being on it and eventually gets the nostrils to join it’s anti war protest… Every party involved in the fighting simply _REFUSES_ to adhere to the rules of the Geneva Convention. It’s complete makeup anarchy, I tells ya!! 😂❤

I feel your pain, I want to cover my purple eye-bags & not my freckles, but I look like a reverse raccoon with white circles around my eyes 😝 My solution is dusting bronzer or peachy blush over my freckles & undereyes, so it all blends together, & even if I cover some freckles, it still gives the illusion of freckles from a distance.

Finding that in between is so important for aging skin. I'm 53 and haven't worn powder since my mid 30's it just settles into fine lines, so a good foundation is a mist. I'm always looking for a good one. I really love Chanel aqua lumiere, vita lumiere and Dior. I think I've recent,y just completely fallen in love with Dior but this one is looking great! My nose is more likely to be ashy dry a few hours after moistureizer than to ever be oily. It's a problem, so many solutions are geared towards the opposite.
As a person with drier skin, for years everything was “matte”, “velvet” or “satin” that was just a buildable form of “matte”, I am so glad to finally be able to find more than just one or two foundations that don’t make my skin look like the Crypt-keeper’face . I don’t understand why these makeup companies can’t just give us glowy, matte and somewhere in between those formulas foundations- all of the time😂). Why does it 😆🇦🇼🇦🇼have to be one or the other ? The same with shade range, we finally have a few brands that get we need more than 8 shades but I’m starting to see that since the hype has died down many of them are dialing back down their shade range ! We just want all of the finishes in a full range of shades at all price points from all brands -I might be asking for too much but we know it can be done 😂j
Smashbox base products always come through. I love their halo skin tint. It’s become my everyday base along with concealer and the primer infused element seems to be smashbox’s thing.
From time to time foundations just don't stick to my nose. But when it happens I use Clinique face scrub and then I can apply foundation. I guess my dead skin cells and oil on nose make the surface way too smooth
As a dry skin owner..... I thought I'd love glowy foundation... but I've realized I prefer well prepped skin and a natural finish so I don't have to set them . Most of the glowy ones make my pores highlighted and I have to powder.
