Ilsa is such a cool addition, especially since she is both a magnetic love interest but also a RIVAL to ethan in terms of skill and determination. Ferguson and Cruise have such a great chemistry together. Such a great new part of this franchise.

I saw FALLOUT today and holy sh*t was it amazing. The action scenes . The long takes. The stunts. The acting. The camera work. The lens flares. The everything was just so MUCH AMAZING!

One “win” I think you missed out on mentioning is that when Benji is taking the lie detector test he subtly gives vague answers or changes the topic in order to avoid out right lying. The only time he does is at the end when he says he isn’t Ethan’s friend.

Criticism done correctly is fine, CinemaSins was a half mock (satire) and half truth (criticism) channel. However, it's been more and more satire in recent memory, and because of that it sounds more like a glorified shitpost. Andwe have the normal internet viewer to shit post so I think they need to change their system. Cinemawins is the same thing but a reverse side, the only major difference is the 'recap' at the end of each video that shows and breaks down many thoughts and opinions on the matter, oh and the fact that's it's positive. Otherwise, they're on the same coin.
This channel _is_ better, but not 'because it's positive.' Wins is better because the guy actually watches the films and thinks about them, from both an entertainment and a technical perspective. Sins just churn out superficial and often internally inconsistent clickbait which mostly boils down to 'I done seen an obvious/overlooked a subtle thing heuheu.' We 100% do need negativity tho because it's necessary to drive improvement by forcing us to accept that we all have room for improvement, whilst helping us avoid yesmen, confirmation bias, groupthink and the various other delusions that positivity can encourage. Without negativity there is also quite literally no positivity, because positivity cannot exist without an opposite to contrast it with.. We don't need lazy, unhelpful negativity for the sake of negativity, but we don't need that for anything - even positivity.

y’all nailed it. and another thing, the comments sections are vastly different. under Wins videos it’s actual discussion of the movie, opinions on the narrator’s thoughts, questioning a Win or suggesting a new/missed one, fun jokes, movie references, and always very positive and respectful replies to one another. love it.
This comment thread made me go and watch a few CinemaSins videos (which I hadn’t watched I a while) and y’all are so right. Absolutely hit the nail on the head.
While watching MI: Fallout, every time Ethan Hunt was running, I keep hearing your voice in my head saying "Tom Cruise sprints like a champ."
You're actually wrong about the risk being minimal in the plane stunt scene. Like you said, a bird would have killed him as would any piece of rock or debris from the runway. Also, he wasn't in some super secure harness; he was attached by ONE ROPE. If anything happened to that one securing device, he would literally be hanging on solo like he is in the film.
Let's put it this way: Tom was experiencing the least amount of risk physically possible, while hanging from a plane.
Actuallly he did broke a couple of ribs during this scene...
@Alvaro Peralta: No, no he didn't, he very well could have, and there was one point where a little tiny particle hit and he thought he broke his ribs, but he wasn't injured during this stunt. That luck would later come back to bite him in the ankle (in Fallout), but he didn't actually break anything in Rogue Nation.

I LOVED that scene of Benji playing Halo 5. Also note that Halo 5 still hadn't been released yet. Benji 100% hacked Microsoft to get that with his super high-tech computers.
6:43 I don't think people actually give this moment enough credit, both in how it affects this movie and the M: I saga in general. Benji standing his ground and not letting Ethan push him away despite the risks was truly an inspiring and amazing showcase of how great of a friend Benji Dunn is to Ethan. it's not a rare interpretation that Benji is the most human/normal of all the team members in the franchise, who have had years to train for life or death situations or have been in the spy world for years. Ghost Protocol was his first time being out in the field after being the "guy in the chair" for presumably years. In that moment he was told by his friend that he was tracking down an organization that had just killed a major political figure and thousands of innocent lives for years, and YET, doesn't even hesitate to join Ethan in the search.
In this world/franchise, where so many of Ethan's teammates/"friends" either die (Hannah, Sarah, Jack, Lindsey), leave (Nyah(?), Jane, Brandt now unfortunately, Declan and Zhen (from MI:3)), betray (Jim, Claire, Krieger, Musgrave), or lie to him (Jim and Claire again, Brandt), Benji choosing to stand by Ethan is EXTREMELY rare, which explains why Ethan looks taken aback after Benji snaps at him. he's never had anyone aside from Luther who's stuck by him through thick and thin, much less someone who's only recently joined fieldwork. it's what makes Lane kidnapping him and strapping him into an explosive vest along with using him as his mouthpiece (which btw I will never get over how disgusting and cruel that was) all the more impactful. like Davian did with Julia, and the Apostles will later do with Luther, Lane used Benji to make Ethan cooperate. it's a moment that matters in both this movie and the rest of the franchise.
and btw, Simon Pegg is a treasure.

I have just watched MI: Fallout and for me it totally deserves the 97% RT rating. It’s fun, action packed with jaw dropping fight sequences and locations. My only one gripe with the movie, if you can call it that, is that the plot is a little hard to follow. But again when you come to Tom Cruise movies you don’t really care about the plot you care about seeing Tom Cruise run!
MrNerd101 it’s the type of movie that doesn’t overly simplify things, and it makes every scene very important to pay full attention, or you may miss important details. Not accusing you of not paying attention or anything, just saying the type of dialogue-centric plot used is fundamentally confusing if any detail is forgotten. It would likely seem much clearer on a second viewing.

Letting Simon Pegg's character play Halo 5 for a brief moment in the movie for me honestly aded so much more sympathy for the character. Sure it could have been a sneaky product placement, and maybe my own personal preferences influence me in this little bit, but I still like that minor detail. It gives a new perspective to the character. He's a total nerd and a gamer. I wouldn't mind product placements in games if they were adding to the movie In my opinion it did. That's all. great movie.

i agree, but the product placement just felt a little too strong for me on my first viewing. if it was literally any other halo game id love it, but something so recent just kind of... ehh

@@downloadjpg ~ Except he's a "tech nerd" with access to cutting edge stuff that the rest of the world doesn't even know exists, so being a gamer as well means of course he would be on top of the latest games he enjoyed. Hell, he probably had Halo 5 six months before it was released, and could play it on a private server with the leading tech nerds from the other alphabet organizations all over the world.
Which, come to think of it, could make for an interesting establishing premise for a spy movie; one more about the tech masters than the field operatives, kind of like "Get Smart's Bruce and Lloyd: Out of Control", but not a comedy. Think something like Benji, Q, Merlin, and any other alphabet tech master, all playing some game every night on a secure private server. Then one night, one of them dumps some massive encrypted file onto the server or into the game with a standard warning to trust no-one, and then goes dark.
Like I said, that's just an _establishing_ premise, where it goes from there is anybody's guess.
That game was t released later in the year.

When the six months later tag popped up I fucking lost it. Also, I love that this film implies that Lane isn’t very physical but it never states it. Then in Fallout, he absolutely kicks the shit out of Benji and holds his own for pretty long against Ilsa.
What an amazing movie and definitely the 2nd best of the franchise (Fallout being #1)!!

After having watched Fallout 3 days earlier, I gotta admit that the 7th film might be my favorite. Although, I would've liked it even more, if the villain actually was successful in his mission and Ethan's mission wouldn't be accomplished.

Yes, that’s a musical cue from the opera. Honestly one of my favorite parts of this movie. Anytime she’s in a meaningful scene, Nessun Dorma gets worked into the score. Brilliant.
Just gonna say 'Impossible Girls' fits better than 'Hunt Girls' for a 'Bond Girl' term equivalent.

Kageniru I’ve always loved how much more powerful they are than the Bond girls. Even vesper Lynd turned out to be a lame female character when she decided to kill herself for no reason after struggling to escape during the fight sequence. The impossible girls on the other hand, are baddasses with their own personalities and agendas outside of hunt. I think ilsa had been one of the best female action characters

I always forget about this instalment! It's just overshadowed by the brilliance that was Ghost Protocol, at least in my opinion! Which is your favourite of the franchise?
Kinda hard to say, but I will go with Fallout.
Every single movie is memorable but Fallout is just the top, not only because the action is just the best, but it also has a solid continuity, it felt like the best wrap to this series, and I can feel Tom Cruise upping the ante with the action, and the story (or at least the atmosphere building)
And it is also because I will always jokingly call this movie "Superman V Tom Cruise" to be honest lol

Rogue Nation and Ghost are my two favorites for sure. I liked the Hoffman and his work as such a great villein. The short time after Ethan's "death" when he was disorientated was one of the most unexpected and surprising parts of the series. Tom doing physical comedy, something new for the series and it was grea.t

MAN. Jeremy Renner KILLS it. Probably the most underrated actor in the series, let alone Hollywood.
Please do "The Prince of Egypt." It's one of, if not, the best animated musical out there. The songs are amazing and emotional, the story is dark and makes you wish ALL Dreamworks films were like that, and the voice cast is all star, featuring Val Kilmer, Ralph Fiennes, Sandra Bullock, Jeff Goldblum, Steve Martin, and Martin Short, just to name a few, and they all kill their respected roles and archetypes as well.
YES! IMO Prince of Egypt is the most powerful of the Exodus movies and severely undervalued 'cause it's "just" an animated musical.

I have a soft spot for three, actually, if ludicrously convoluted. Four average, and five was poor quite often.
I loved Benji's completely apathetic face when Lane is in the box and kicking at Benji. He just looks down, completely nonchalant as if to say: "Oh hey, a kick. Yep, that's not going to do anything." It's a complete turn of the power balance between when Benji was tied up and when Lane was in the box. It was just a little look, but hilarious!!!
Fun fact: Tom Cruise learned how to fly a helicopter in 6 weeks for the new movie

The friendships really work in this movie, similar to how they worked in the first two Star Wars sequels. They add an undercurrent of heart to the movie beneath the action.
Every time i sit down to watch a new MI for the first time, i have that thought in the back of my head. "What if this one isnt as good? What if they dont get it right this time?". But when this one opens with THIS SCENE 0:34 , all of my doubts are put to rest. So amazing
Jeremy Renner's line when he comments on the type of car they picked for the car chase in Casablanca is literally, the funniest line I've ever heard in a film. I can't remember exactly what his words were but it had me dying from laughter.
I can think of only one way for you to atone for the failure to upload this properly, and that is to review Treasure Planet.

YES! I had that movie on repeat when I was a kid. The steampunk aesthetic was so alien and wonderful to me at the time, I couldn't stop watching it.

For the difference in the Mission Impossible theme, this movie the composer decided to make it line up with the normal groupings of 4 beats/measure, which packs more punch in the traditional way that makes sense to what your mind expects. What I loved about the score in the 6th movie is that they put it back in 5/4 time, which doesn't line up like normal, and really embraced that idea and had this score that keeps you off-balance with its groups of five. But both are super effective - it's a really well designed theme to work off of.
So normally I would ask for the Chronicles of Narnia as it's something I would like to see you talk about, but I recently went back and watched your very first video and noticed just how much you've improved. So my request is for you to go back to some of your oldest videos and "remaster" them. Sort of an odd request but I think some of those movies deserve to be revisited. Thanks.

The opera scene, the underwater scene, the best motorcycle scene in the franchise, this one is 100% my favorite.
8:51 he also explained that he burns less oxygen when doing exercises than the average human, that's why he can do so much even at his current age.
One little win - In the motorbike chase scene, as Ethan does a sharp turn on the bike, his knee nearly touches the floor and you can see the genuine reaction of 'oh that's close' and then he pulls his knee away :)

In order for a sequel to be better than its predecessor it has to be at least mildly more entertaining. Sorry nerds, but Fellowship is the best and it all just gets boring after that. Books AND movies.
Potter did it a lot better. The books and movies just got better as the story progressed.

I just watched this movie for the first time this evening. Gotta say, it's my favorite in the franchise thus far. Haven't seen Fallout yet, so the jury's still out on that.

It's so nice hearing so much praise for this film. As a firm believer that this is the best of the franchise, I feel it never gets the credit it deserves. Especially when the good-but-not-great Ghost Protocol is the one everybody worships for some reason.

@11:03 - thematic reference to the first Mission: Impossible, the Debrief scene at the end of the first act, with Kitridge. Particularly the expression on her face when Lane explains that aspect of his plan. Also, the plot twist with the memory stick echoing the verification scene with Max.

May I suggest The Mummy 2017? You've already looked at the best of Tom Cruise so I think it's time to look at one of his many misfires. It's not entirely awful though; Russel Crowe was awesome as Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde. Plus, I do kinda want the Dark Universe to succeed but Universal needs to hire some committed people to helm the franchise.

In all honesty while it wasn’t a top notch movie for me, it was similar to what I like to refer to as a “romp”, where things go from one part of the story to the next. Similar to Valerian and 9. Like all pretty solid movies overall, and sometimes style over substance can work!
