Found a way. Spray wd 40 in the middle and spin it to try to get it in there a bit, then just wack it a few times with a rubber mallet not too hard though on thr top, then wavk the bottom. Do that for a few cycles and it popped right off
For the majority of people, it’ll be easier to have the deck removed from the mower to change out the pulley, but if you’re able to do it with it in place then by all means, there’s no reason not to
Great video dude. Any tips on how to get that pulley off lol? Need to actually replace just the belt, got 10 years out of it! But, removed the nut holding the pulley on and it must be just rusted on because I can't get it off. Tried spraying it with some liquid wrench and still can't get it off.
@@DIYManiacJohnP Thanks for this entire video. Had a case where the belt had managed to free itself from that pulley. The nut didn't want to give, nor the pulley itself. Wound up having to pull the entire assembly off of the deck, clamp it in a vise and Unga Bunga the heck out of it. What should have been a 5 minute job turned into a 4 hour ordeal. On an unrelated note, I need to do some shoulder workouts. I'm really feeling it.
Great videos love them just wondering if you have any info out there on why would my belt rum on the plastic belt guard covers…it’s a LT150 it’s almost like the belt is loose but it’s all new only 1 yr old.
@MedicMark I have a D105 and my belt also rubs on one of the plastic belt guards...has slightly worn the guard where it rubs as a matter of fact. But it does not interfere with the performance of the mower and, after 5 years it has no viable effects on the belt itself (The fact that the belt is 5 years old and hasn't been replaced shows that the "Rubbing" is no damaging the belt) Anyway, I hope that this helps alleviate any concerns you may have about the rubbing? My advice would be to simply monitor the belt for any deterioration. Cheers, Doons
@@DIYManiacJohnP Yes it looks like it. By the way John....you have a new subscriber! I think I can confidently approach maintenance on my D105 with the splendid range of tutorial vids you have mate! Cheers, Doons
In theory anything could be fixed with enough money you just have to ask yourself if it’s worth it. I would at least call a couple local metal working shops to see what they say.
by the way is there a way to bent the pulley guard closer to the pulley my belt kept coming off on the engage pulley it doesn't look close enough and the belt keep jumping off... thanks BJ
Good to see there is someone who still drinks V8!
Exactly the info I needed, including that Part #.
And I found this at exactly the right time: the Fall leaves are waiting :-)
Thank You!!
Thanks for watching
Thank you so much for this video! Very helpful ❤🇨🇦
Thank you for watching!!!
Hi great video! Do you know the torque specs for the larger idler pulley bolt? Trying to find it online and haven't been able to find. Thanks!
I am sorry i do not. I tried but never found it
35 lb ft
@@BlairCoughtrey Thank you, I was looking for that also
What is the part number for the larger idler pulley?
is that same way u change the on john deere model 48 46 inch cut mower deck
I to that but off of the idle pully but I can’t lift that pully off
Exactly why im here. Were you able to figure out how
Why does everyone elses pully just come right the frigg off and mine has to be done with dynamite? Damn it lol

@@kytsunman8592what if you dont have a rubber mallet
Came here for the same reason
Mines freaking welded on there lol
Why didn't you tighten the nut with a torque wrench ? Would think JD has a specification on how much torque to put on it. Prob in manual.
great vidio ,but why take the deck of ? as you can get that pully off ,just drop the belt off and change over .IF the pully is not rusted on ..

Is the tensioner arm supposed to have a little Play in it?

Those pulleys can be tough to pull off. It really comes down the pure grunt force. Or you can rent an automotive puller.
@@DIYManiacJohnP OK thanks. I'll give it another go.

Hey where can I get the arm that the pulley sits on
Did you ever find it ?

Thanks so much!!!!!
Will bad tensioners cause belt to keep coming of? Thanks
It most definitely can if the proper tension is not maintained, the belt will be allowed to slide off
My belt came off and bent the idler pulley so badly it detached from the deck. There’s a hole now. Can it be welded or fixed???

Buy a cheap welding machine, some are low as 75 bucks. My pulley got pulled off the deck from hitting metal I didn't see and I welded it back together
I got a 54-inch John Deere rider and a belt is slapping on the back what causes that
I have the same model. Your belt may be stretched out
What size deck belt did you use
The belt that is made for the 42” deck
Very helpful
