Are these available in custom games atm off the bat, or do they need to be unlocked in the campaign before they become available in other modes (minus PvP obviously)
There's secret locations for these variants in the campaign. I found the BR Breacher on a fallen UNSC soldier while I was scouting an area near an Outpost. The game really rewards you for random exploration
Yeah they seem to be pretty well hidden in the campaign. Only one I’ve found so far is the Rushdown Hammer on a dead Brute in a little alcove on the mission where you infiltrate the excavation site. At this point now though I’ve got every variant except for the Hydra one so I’m not super worried about it. Though I will say if anyone reading this does find a variant before they unlock it, hold onto that weapon because the variants seem to vastly outclass the regular weapons.
Pursuit Hydra found at one of the UNSC mock bases when storming the Brute Boss’s fortres. It’s on a corner next to some fusion coils. I think it’s the second base, they sent some Hunters after me (Heroic difficulty).
Another small detail you missed on the Hydra is that the regular hydra will kill in 2 missiles without lock-on and will kill in 4 with lock on. While the new variant will kill with 3 missiles regardless and the overall tracking is much stronger and near impossible to strafe out of in mid to long range.
You can collect that gun in a small room in the east guarded by an elite. I really want to know if anyone else has found any others I also know where the sniper is and plasma pistal
really hope we get the glitch that lets you shoot another gun's ammo in any gun of choice. Snipers shooting plasma pistol shots is always funny no matter the circumstance.
I'm pretty sure these are campaign weapon variants. I heard in a review that you could hunt for weapon variants as a side quest. If so, i'm hoping 343 adds them in a variant only mode. Could be wrong though.

faster movement, lunge and slightly more damage. I wish it had the Blood blade attributes instead cause being able to melt enemies like forerunner weapons is great for some odd reason.
I'm curious if the cindershot variant has any new properties to the laser guided ADS feature. Most people tend to not know it does that at base so it'd be cool if the variant bumped that up even more somehow

You shoudld test the red sword and hammer. I love them in campaign. But duelist sword, bandana, and grapple is beyond fun. Hope the red sword boost speed as well
The flex fire sniper doesn't haave to be both head shots for a two shot kill. Can be one body shot and one head shot. As long as the body shot is first, head shot second. Makes it really great for quick hip fire. Smoke dudes like that.
"hidden" most of these weapons are accessible at all your bases in the campaign after completing the assignation type missions. ANYWAYS here is something fun. Give all your marines the "Arcane Sentinel Beam" and load them into the passenger warthog. They have pinpoint accuracy, unlimited ammo, and can destroy a phantom in about 6-9 seconds (I didnt really count but trust me.... you dont need to). They just wipe everything out the moment they see it even on legendary.
Would have liked to see what some of those variants did to vehicles like the skewer or commando. And didn't really see a charged plasma pistol shot against a close player
The funny thing about the impact commando is that it's actually pretty solid as a DMR and only using full-auto in close range (where it obviously shreds). Kinda funny that they made a weapon that's good, but in the exact opposite way they meant it to be 😂 edit: also, the unbound PP can (or at least used to) one-shot people from close range [if all the orbs hit]. Not all that useful, but super satisfying when it works!
There are a few vehicles in this game but so far only one vehicle variant you come across in the the campaign a gold chopper that has a higher rate of fire and had energy blades on the front when you press the thrusters, much is unknown about this vehicle as players only get one opportunity to drive it if they successfully take it from the spartan killers intact.
AWESOME VIDEO 1 thing though you forgot to mention that the alternate Heatwave has lock on after bouncing it's true try aiming at the ground away from a player. It will bounce off and aim straight for them. Getting Bankshot kills will be a breast with this thing.
1) you missed that the unique cindershot has a guided projectile when zoomed in 2) you missed that the unique plasma pistol’s uncharged shots track the target
Little thing with these: some of these are available in the campaign, and a Razorback full of volatile skewers is a straight up anti vehicle, long range sniping mortar crew.
Yes they are, you defeat high value targest to get them, I use the varient pistol nearly the whole campaign onced I unlocked it other weapons not so much since the limitations in amunition since the normal versions can't refill the ammo for the varients

My 3 favorites is the pistol absolutely a beast and easily the best of them all and then the shotgun and then my favorite fun but also powerful is the rapid fire pulse gun
It may be a less popular idea, but they should give that sniper the 343 design from 4-5 so people can tell the difference a lot more when picking it up
The heatwave variant is glitched it does have a name when you beat the boss that has it and then it's in your weapon locker it will show it's actual name
I think those weapons were made for the campaign cause those kind of weapons shouldn't be in a multiplayer it would completely break the weapon balance.
They're not really 'hidden' weapon variants. They're all HVT rewards from the campaign and they're all usable in the campaign from the FOB weapon crates once you kill their associated HVT.
Small note about the variant energy sword, you seem to slide much further (or for a longer time I can’t really tell with the gameplay I’ve had with it) but either way you go zoom
So far you can get the bull dog on breaker and needler on prism and I was playing firefight multi-player and got a lot of these guns and you forgot the elite blood blade and killer of hope gravity hammer

I had no idea that the regular version killed in 2 with regular fire. Thanks for the info!
The regular also hits vehicles like a truck if you don't lock on.
My favorite part of Halo 5 was the weapon variants in super fiesta. Good to see some of that love getting experimented with in Infinite!

Well, most of them. The UNSC ones you unlock through getting Valor (you can find em on the FOB tab in the menu)

Went thru legendary not knowing all these variants existed...that sentinel beam would have made things so much better
I believe the Duelist sword also attacks slightly faster than the normal sword

You can 3 shot with the disrupter variant if you wait for the electric explosion to go of before shooting them again
With the Backdraft Cindershot, if you ADS you can also steer the shot as it flys through the air.

the normal skewer one shots wasps, banshees, and I think it one shots ghosts as well

If you wanna use them you can get them in the campaign it'll take a bit to unlock them but they are crazy op in it

You get em at the FOB's. You'll see a floating green AR, go there and hold interact, and you select from a wheel of weapons.
