Thanks for collaborating girl!! Also, growing up chicken noodles were one of my favorites 😍 I grew up eating so many of the recipes you’ve shared! One thing I’m thankful for with a Mennonite background is GOOD food! 😉 love ya lady!!!
I make that salad. I add sunflower seeds and sometimes raisins. So good. Yes, you can definitely make it ahead of time. I think it tastes better the next day because the flavors have combined. It's also interesting to me that many Mennonite meals are similar to Southern Baptist potluck dishes I make and grew up eating. I guess it is because we are both descendants of the Anabaptists.
You are so sweet and interesting to watch. Even though we come from very different back rounds i find your content is so interesting and you are a wonderful decorater. Keep on producing these great videos. Your Jewish grandma in NYC.
YUM!!! All delish!! Thanks for sharing! Just a kind tip (from a Mom of 2 boys & now grandchildren): Please turn your pot handles to the back of the stove burner, this way you won't bump it and cause the pot to spill or one of the children accidentally reaches for it. Can't wait for the next video you share.
Funny, I saw that too. My mom taught me to always turn pot handles away from the front. I'm the oldest daughter in a family of 9 children so there was plenty of chance for accidents!
Love your channel! TIP: for broccoli cauliflower salad, try 3 tablespoon vinegar 3 tablespoon sugar in your dressing its AWESOME!!!!!! Try it please!!!!
I saw you make these noodles and thought to myself, the first cold day we have (we are in Northern Wisconsin) I'm making those. Made them last night and they were a big hit!!! I used the Walnut Creek noodles too, I picked them up at a Mennonite store that's near me. thank you so much
When you make the pie crust - roll out a second and cut into strips - lay strips on baking sheet and dust with sugar and cinnamon. I promise you that your kiddos will LOVE the dough strips! I'm 70 now and have been eating the 'left over pie crust strips' for at least 65 years :) This is a perfect way to make your children pie-loving kids! Bless you and your family.
On your jello salad. I work in dietary at our local hospital. And I make something like that. We call it frog salad. I make the jello and let it set up in a 9x13 pan. After the jello sets up I put everything in the stand mixer. Softened cream cheese and the jello and mix it starting out slow then switch it to med high then high. Blend well then add the cool whip and you can add crushed pineapple or mandarin oranges. Blend well! Then put it in a 9x 13 and put in the freg. Until it sets up then slice like you do a cake. Looks a lot like what you made! I enjoyed your video 🙂
I worked in dietary at a hospital years ago and we made different things with Jell-O. One super simple thing we did was mix canned pears with whatever flavor of Jell-O we had. Sometimes lime and sometimes cherry or strawberry. I loved them. I like tart things so I would make them at home and drain and rinse the pears and mix a packet of unsweetened Kool-Aid mix with it. I added a little salt for an extra zing. Weird but was tasty and helped if I craved sour candy. Thanks for your videos. I love that you have several different recipes that don't necessarily go together to make one meal. The chicken noodles look divine!! Definitely going to have to try them.
My best friends mom always made peanut butter pie when we were growing up! The years since she’s passed on, nobody can make her peanut butter pie like she did...I know they aren’t hard to make, but they just never taste the same as hers! I have a pudding recipe from my Grandma that always made pies & her specialty & my favorite was Banana Cream pie! The pudding was always so rich! Now I need to dig out my recipe book with her recipes & make a pie!! On the broccoli/cauliflower salad, I always mix in the dressing to let the flavors merry together & just before serving, we add sunflower seeds! That’s my favorite summer salad!! I like your variety of foods you make in your videos!! Yum!!
Lynette, We loved your Amish Noodles, WOW ! So good and what a base for great chicken /turkey noodle soup also. The best meal we've had in a long time. I put mashed potatoes in a soup cup then added turkey chopped and noodles with the gravy on top , with broccoli a separate dish. So good, Lord bless you and your family.
My husband 's family live near Holmes county , so we always shop at Walnut Creek when we visit . I didn't know they sold to other retailers, I'll have to check my area .
Hiya from. Another Buckeye- I live one county to the west in Knox County- one of mine's claim is to be largest sheep- producing County East of the Mississippi and a fair amount of Amish and Mennonite are my neighbors.
I've been to Walnut Creek. I used to live in Tuscarawas county and would go there quite often. I haven't been in years. I would go to the apple orchard for fresh cider down the road every year. I'm a couple hours away now though.
Instead of corn flakes, ritz crackers for topping? Maybe add some cheddar and mix with ritz? Your thoughts..and that broccoli/cauli salad looked great!
I’ve been wanting this peanut butter pie recipe for years and years now. As a teenager, I worked for a Mennonite owned Best Western and they served this particular pie. It is delicious and I’ve never ran across the recipe until now. Y’all it is delicious and you should try it. Thank you Lynette for sharing the recipe with us!!! 😋❤️
Love your cooking videos. Love all your videos. My husband makes a broccoli salad almost just like yours minus the cauliflower. He adds sunflower seeds sometimes and dried cranberries. I make a hashbrown casserole that is exactly like your only I don't precook the "sauce". Just stir it all together and bake. O, I don't use Velveeta cheese. Shredded cheddar. I think I once told you that I grew up in northern Indiana surrounded by Amish and Mennonite. I never had the opportunity to talk to any of them as I had heard they don't typically like to talk to "Englishers". I watch Adaline Zooks videos all the time and had wondered if she was somehow from or married to an Amish or Mennonite due to her last name. I enjoy watching her videos too. Thanks for all you do. I'm going to have to try that peanut butter pie!
I just love your videos because you are genuine. It’s fun seeing the kids pop up in the videos too. Reminds me of when my girls were small and I was cooking. Your pie turned out beautiful! I’ve been married 49 years and still can’t make a pie crust as well as my mom did. My husband never minds eating my mistakes. God bless you honey from a follower in NW OH.
I sold my house in PA and not sure if I still have my Amish recipe cookbook. I made a lot including Shoofly pie. My daughter may have thevrecipe book now. I was in the same hospital room as an Amish young woman after we both gave birth to our babies in 1970. We wrote for several years to keep connected. Gosh that will be 50 years ago this year! Her child will be 50 also!! Time flies.
LOL @ 13:15 I was wondering what those poor hash browns ever did to you! Thanks for the memory of the whipped Jello. That was a holiday staple when I was young. Red for Christmas and yellow for Easter - yum!
Thank you Lynette, enjoyed watching you make your video’s. I live in Jamesport,Missouri and l love what l call Amish noodles. I have been canning up a storm here since my Amish neighbors have shared their over abundance of garden goodies. Your pie ( boy) looks yummy.
I’m catching up on your old videos and picked up so many food tips from this one, thank you. A tip that I leave in return is that if you mix in some cubed cold ham into the hash brown casserole before baking, it makes a delicious main dish that reheats well.
I have eaten broccoli salad before with raisins and sunflower kernels. It was delicious. I've never made it though. Your pie crust looked great! I've been cooking for 50 years and my pie crusts aren't blue ribbon winners either...but they sure do taste good.
Such a great video. You’ve got your hands full on so many levels, and still can put together a good family meal. I have pics of my mom holding me when she was cooking. That was over 60 years ago. No wonder I love to cook so much. A beautiful family, Lynette. You’re doing a wonderful job. Hugs.
I so appreciate your channel. I am reviewing all of your videos while I am quarantined with covid-19. I have tried the Amish noodles and jello salad and they were so good. Keep the videos coming. God bless.
Peanut Butter Streusel Pie is one of my favorites. My Aunt made it for my bridal shower 43 years ago. We use the egg whites to make a meringue and put the rest of the crumbles over top. Delicious! Love watching your videos. Childhood memories.
Turn your handles in from the stove!! I learned that in Girl Scouts... much safer with small kids who can hit the handles running by! This comfort food looks so good!
Lynette...should there be any peanutbutter in the pudding part of the peanutbutter pie? Fir 30 years I lived near Arthur, Il which had a large population of Amish and Mennonites. Such good cooks! We loved driving over to their store/bakery for bread, jams fresh eggs and summer produce. They also had a general store...such great things and fabric galore....we always said...if you couldn't find the fabric there that you were looking for...it didn't exist! It was so calm and peaceful to drive thru the country and see a simple lifestyle...I know they work hard though. Thanks for sharing so many recipes. 💐
You can make the gelatin salad with regular Jello. I used to always use Dream Whip which is a powdered whipped topping. That way I could make it anytime. Both ways were delicious. Orange was my favorite. Tasted like a well known popsicle.
I'm all for variety! If there is something that I am less fond of, there are other things I can enjoy. My faves are when you decorate and organize, you have such a knack. That being said, I watch and enjoy all your videos! 💖
My son is all excited to make the whipped jello tomorrow! We make a vinegar pie crust which is amazing and comes out well just about every single time.
The peanut butter pie looked delicious. Crust looked very professional. My four year old daughter told me she liked all pies as long as they had apples in them. She likes all pies now whether or not they have apples! She is now 65.
Im a newer subscriber and just love your recipes. I grew up in Eastern PA and loved to take trips out to Amish Country and I worked for a Mennonite bank for a few years. Lovely culture. Now, my question is- do you have a cookbook of your recipes yet?? I need to print them out and try them!!! Thank you for sharing all of these, I really enjoy the variety.
Hi Lynette . I'm a new subscriber and just wanted to thank you for sharing your wonderful family, culture and faith with us. I live outside of Lancaster PA and work with some lovely Mennonite ladies. You're a sweet lady, God bless you.
I think the whipped jello dessert would be great for Christmas. After having a turkey dinner you are so full but you want something sweet and light and you could make it with Christmas colours if you want.
I always look forward to your videos. I especially enjoy your recipes because they are designed for normal people using normal ingredients. You have such a kind sweet nature. Thank you for showing the world what a Christian woman really looks like.
Those potluck potatoes are one of our favs too, and also great to take for a covered dish to a party! Once, when making some, my store was out of frozen hashbrown potatoes, so I made it with tater tots instead. Now, I always use the tater tots, my family loved them that way!
I just got done baking pie before I watched your video (requested by the men) I have been baking pie for years but I burned the crust for the chocolate pie so I just made more🙂custard & pumpkin is always a reguest. Your pie looked delicious! Everything looked yummy!
Just a helpful tip. When making a pie crust you can roll the crust over the rolling pin and then unroll in right into the pan. Makes it easy to transfer. These look like great recipes to try. Thanks. Enjoy the day.
Love your recipe videos and the decor videos, well all of them actually make me happy! I just basically love to come to your channel whenever I see one listed. Your shared recipes all look absolutely delicious. I would love to have grown up where you did and can only imagine the get togethers and the delicious meals, salads and deserts. So wonderful. Baby is feeding herself graham crackers already!!! She's too little........LOL .........keep her small longer! LOL So sweet a baby girl. I Love that you had a little girl this time.......everyone needs a little girl in their family if God sends one......so sweet and a live baby doll to dress and just snuggle so closely. I love my boys too and I was blessed with son and daughters which are my life even tho they are raised now with their own children.....such a joy and fulfillment! Thank you for sharing so much! You are so busy but I love that you do share these recipes.......so so delicious!!!! Blessings
I think your pie came out great. Best peanut butter pie I've seen. Don't be so hard on yourself you did fine. I like this kind of video so keep them coming.
Yummy looking pie!! My dad made a tasty peanut butter pie, and the crust was from scratch and left over dough was made into pin wheels…He loved to cook and bake and eat as well! Lol I miss him and his love for food!! Tfs these recipes💕👍🇺🇸🙏
I’ve used scissors to cut stew meat into smaller pieces so thanks for showing us the scissor cutup of bacon. Great idea. I copied all your recipes. Thanks for sharing. They all look good!
A helpful tip...after you roll your pie crust out, use your rolling pin and roll the crust around the rolling pin to transfer to your pie pan. That way you don’t have to fold it over and it possibly tearing or getting out of shape. LOVED this content. I like to see 2-3 different recipes.
Made your Broccoli and Cauliflower Salad for our Thanksgiving Day meal. It is delicious. Thank you for sharing your wonderful recipes. Happy Holidays and God Bless You always
Those cheese potatoes have been in my family for as long as I remember but we don’t cook the sauce we just mix everything cold and bake it all together and use diced potatoes it’s so good keep on cooking !
Hi Lynette! You’re such a delight! Can’t wait to make the broccoli salad..whipped jello salad and peanut butter pie this week! It all looks delicious! ❤️😋
I love these recipes! Also your Amish country visit videos are so neat, I live in Ohio about an hour and a half from there. I can’t wait to go back and visit all those places you’ve shown! Thank you for showing those little hole in the wall places to visit!
Lynette, I will have to try your peanut butter pie. My husband loves anything with peanut butter. Once again, your sharing these recipes help add to what I already make. Thank you!
My mom made that peanut butter pie when I was a kid and I loved it. I still request it for my birthday. She makes the cook and serve box pudding in hers.
I make the broccoli cauliflower salad a lot. I always do mine early and let the dressing sit on it. In my personal opinion, the longer the dressing is on, the better it tastes.😁
Everything looked so good, I could smell the Bread and chowder. The Whoopi Pies is something I would have trouble avoiding. Your children are growing so fast, it is hard to believe. I always enjoy seeing them. I don't know how you prepare so much and manage everything. Your the Mennonite Wonder Woman 😆
I make a similar peanut butter pie from a southern cookbook (Come Home to Supper); it uses meringue instead of cool whip on top and is my favorite pie to make for gatherings
That's all that matters, you and your family like it. I enjoy watching you please keep up the good work. I like watching several different items to be cooked.
I've had the peanut butter pie at Yoders in Sarasota....and its AWESOME....this recipe is the real deal!!! THANK you so much for sharing.....brings a Big smile on my face. OH, the fried chicken is awesome too.
I really appreciate cooking videos. I’ve been having major mental block in the kitchen and I can’t wait to try some of these. My dad had some Amish friends we went and stayed with when I was a little girl. They made these corn fritters and corn pudding that I still dream about. Do you have a recipe for either of those? I’ve never been able to replicate or found any that were the same. Thanks again for a great video.
I enjoy all your cooking videos! I love the variety. Not every video needs a specific theme . . . "delicious food" is the perfect theme, lol! You are such a blessing new friend!
I’ve made whipped jello before but I baked a sponge cake let that cool added fresh strawberries and then made batch of whipped strawberry jello on top! It’s a great combination:)
We live in Vincennes, Indiana and our Dutch Pantry and Dogwood BBQ sells Walnut Creek Food...I will def buy some after listening to your recommendations....
I had one of those baby food grinder, loved it. I never bought baby food made my own. Used blender and put things in an ice cube tray after they were frozen popped them out in a freezer container and the warmed up the food using a egg poacher or if it was fruit would let it thaw. Fortunately none of the children had food allergies.
That’s basically the same peanut butter pie recipe I use the only difference is my filling also has peanut butter in it for an extra peanut butter taste 😊 It’s AMAZING!!!!!
The pie looked good! Didn't see nothing wrong with crust. Don't worry you will get better at baking. God bless you, and your beautiful family! Have a bless week. Would like for you to have a ladies Bible study.
I do a version of the noodles. I got it from my mother in law. I use the Manischewirz Jewish thick noodles, a package of McCormicks turkey or pork gravy, chicken broth, lots of pepper and Sage with turkey or chicken bits thrown in. You have a different cooking method. I'm gonna try that next time. For the whipped jello? I always make it orange, then no bake version of cheesecake goes on top of that, and then stabilized whipped creams on top of that.
I just discovered you and your videos today and so far I have watched several. Thanks for all the good recipes and for sharing your family history. I will keep watching.
Yum I make a broccoli salad that is very similar. Broccoli, bacon bits, mayo, spices, and toasted almonds. It keeps well in the fridge even if you dress it the night before.
Oh man, my cheesy hashbrowns are very similar too but I use cubed hashbrowns and don't cook the sauce. I just mix it all up together and it thickens in the oven. I top it with cornflakes. I grew up in an Amish area, I guess it infused in everyone's cooking LOL!
Yummy I make the Broccoli and Cauliflower salad But also add raisins and sunflower seeds! I think it taste better if the salad sits a bit with the dressing on.
I must make this pie 😁. I’ve had the broccoli/cauliflower salad countless times and it’s so delish that I just added a few things to my grocery list, lol. Ps: cheddar indeed works very well with it. Thanks for the video!
Thanks for collaborating girl!! Also, growing up chicken noodles were one of my favorites 😍 I grew up eating so many of the recipes you’ve shared! One thing I’m thankful for with a Mennonite background is GOOD food! 😉 love ya lady!!!
You're one of my faves, too!!!
❤️❤️❤️ you’re welcome!
InstaBlaster.
How have I never thought to cut bacon with scissors?! SUCH a good idea!!!!!
Its very Asian...
I always use scisdors to cut bacon and other meats. I wear disposable gloves. Maybe weird but keeps your hands clean
It’s a really convenient kitchen hack...I as well use scissors to cut bacon and etc, always!
Thats how I do it too. And I use scissors to cut a pizza pie😇
I have always use a scissors to cut bacon. I just wash my hands before and after.
I make that salad. I add sunflower seeds and sometimes raisins. So good. Yes, you can definitely make it ahead of time. I think it tastes better the next day because the flavors have combined.

Mom used to do this with the extra crust she had after rolled out crust and cut off extra.
I'm 70 also....my kids called those flatties🙂
We used to do that when I was a kid but spread jam on them 😋

Yes!! I do mine like that too, right in the mixing bowl. Lime is my favorite!!
I like adding the dressing to the salad and letting it meld flavors. I don’t add bacon until I serve.
Wait on cheese the cheese too, it gets sticky.

So proud of you for going out of your comfort zone!! You are an amazing woman :)
Mennonite Mom encouraged us to come here, and I’m sooooo glad she did! You are a wonder! God bless you.
Dried cranberries would be so good in the broccoli salad.
Ughhhh........no.
Michelle Brown have you ever tried it?
Oh that cranberry addition to broccoli sounds really good!

love peanut butter pie I put PB2 which is dehydrated peanut butter and it makes the pie really full of peanut flavor!

You crimp your pie crust like my mother taught me! I think it’s the easiest and looks nice.
Keep pressing forward with your baking! Everything looks so good!
I really enjoy your videos. My hometown has a Mennonite community, and it is really interesting to me how much of these recipes I grew up eating.

I don’t. I honestly don’t have enough to make my own. Most of these are adapted or from amish style cookbooks.
My bunch calls the potatoes hash brown casserole. You can also add hamburger for a one pot meal.

Loved this video. Made a variation of the salad, adapting my renal diet restrictions. Thanks!!
👌🏽👌🏽
LOL
So sweet a baby girl.
Blessings
How are you doing 😊😊👋👋😊👋👋
I love all your videos. Sewing. Cooking. Housekeeping. You are great!
I think the pie would be good with chocolate pudding. Peanut butter & chocolate! Yum!!!!!
Shannon Clark that’s what I was thinking....peanut butter and chocolate. A match made in heaven!
I agree totally!
I agree! Peanut butter chocolate makes the world go round! lol Heather xo
❤️😋
How are you doing 😊😊👋👋😊👋
I love these recipes! Also your Amish country visit videos are so neat, I live in Ohio about an hour and a half from there. I can’t wait to go back and visit all those places you’ve shown! Thank you for showing those little hole in the wall places to visit!
Lynette, I will have to try your peanut butter pie. My husband loves anything with peanut butter. Once again, your sharing these recipes help add to what I already make. Thank you!
I like this type of video. So many cooking shows show opening every can and box. I get bored. I like that you show you mistakes. Great work.
My mom made that peanut butter pie when I was a kid and I loved it. I still request it for my birthday. She makes the cook and serve box pudding in hers.
I make
the broccoli cauliflower salad a lot. I always do mine early and let the dressing sit on it. In my personal opinion, the longer the dressing is on, the better it tastes.😁
👍🏽👍🏽
Hi! I don’t think I’ve had those!
I like the random videos, I’m catching up on the videos I missed before I was lucky enough to find you, thank you.
I use to make an anish peanut butter pie in the 80s. Lost the recipe years ago. Thanks for posting. Going to try it again.
That’s basically the same peanut butter pie recipe I use the only difference is my filling also has peanut butter in it for an extra peanut butter taste 😊 It’s AMAZING!!!!!
How are you doing 😊😊👋👋
Wonderful recipes Lynette. Trying the Broccoli/Cauliflower salad tomorrow. Congrats on losing all the baby weight, you look GREAT!
I made your peanut butter pie after I saw this video. It was a hit with everyone! Thank you for sharing!
Yeah!!!! Cooking. Lots of cooking.
How are you doing 😊👋👋😊👋
Peanut butter mixed w powder sugar is the basics for Buckeyes. YUMMMMM!
Hi Lynette! I’m here from Adaline’s channel. So happy to be here! Subscribed ☺️
How are you doing 😊😊👋👋😊👋
Peanut butter pie looks awesome! 💜
Great video! And kudos to you for learning to do your own pie crusts. You did great!
Hi just by chance seen your channel!!! Very interesting!! That pie sounds really good😇
How are you doing 😊👋👋😊👋
Yum I make a broccoli salad that is very similar. Broccoli, bacon bits, mayo, spices, and toasted almonds. It keeps well in the fridge even if you dress it the night before.
Oh man, my cheesy hashbrowns are very similar too but I use cubed hashbrowns and don't cook the sauce. I just mix it all up together and it thickens in the oven. I top it with cornflakes. I grew up in an Amish area, I guess it infused in everyone's cooking LOL!
That PB pie! I love cream pie (banana or coconut), that sounds amazing.
Yummy I make the Broccoli and Cauliflower salad But also add raisins and sunflower seeds! I think it taste better if the salad sits a bit with the dressing on.
How are you doing 😊😊👋👋😊👋👋
I must make this pie 😁. I’ve had the broccoli/cauliflower salad countless times and it’s so delish that I just added a few things to my grocery list, lol. Ps: cheddar indeed works very well with it. Thanks for the video!
