This is my all-state piece for this year and I'm having issues with the articulations specifically the tonguing. Do u have any suggestions on how to articulate lightly.

Yes, small tongue movement (keep that air moving forward)!

I hope you performed well and that your recent auditions were great! Did you figure out how to make this etude work?

Hi, I was wondering what tempo you are playing this at?
Also if you have any tips for playing this piece, thank you!

It may have been just shy of dotted quarter note=60? I don't have the book right here. I like to listen to Vengerov for his style of playing and believe that the music should not be so fast that the listener can't understand it (or in some cases, that the dance form it's based on is still recognizable!) I really would make sure that you use a metronome and carve out the phrases. Makes it easier to play!

Austin, I am so glad that it's something that you can use as one interpretation! Thank you for your comment!

Hi Mike, I am still behind in recording all-state auditions for people, so if I get a chance (as well as a decent alto flute solo piece to play), I will.
