Horns up for you man! You’ve been one of my favorite drummers since Testament’s Live At The Fillmore. You did an amazing job! You rule! 🤘

I can't see why a drum teacher would criticize using the non-dominant foot (or switching back and forth) in the thrash beat. You're working on making it equal to the dominant foot. I really wish I had taken lessons from other metal drummers like Jon.

Thanks for the tips bro!!!🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁Appreciate you. Been playing drums 🥁 since I was 8 and AK 59 now but it's always good to get another perspective. If I ever get to the point where I say "I've seen it all" or even think that I can't learn something new or get a fresh perspective on something old then it'll be time to use my sticks for kindling!!!!! I just subbed to your channel. And again I want to say thank you!!! And will say this to all your viewers; no matter how long you've been playing or how good you are, you can always be better!!! The late Neil Peart (RIP) knew this. It's why he went and found the legendary Freddie Gruber and studied under him. You can see the difference in his drumming B4 and after. B4 the machine!!! After more relaxed approach to how he played!!!!! We can always learn but sometimes we have to swallow our ego. Just the other week a friend of my son showed me something new and different on the drums 🥁 and I swallowed my pride and asked this 16 year old to "show me" but it was just a different way of saying "teach me"" !!!!!! Be open to everything!!!!! Enough of my Blah Blah!!!!! Keep Rocking on bro!!!!!!⚡️⚡️🥁🥁🥁⚡️⚡️⚡️🤘🔥🤘🔥🤘🔥🤘⚡️⚡️⚡️🥁🥁🥁⚡️⚡️⚡️

Try that with a more Lombardo-esque thrash beat where the bass/snare pattern is 1-1 2-1 1-1 2-1, etc.

Awesome, subscribed. It was a pleasure to watch and I don't even play drums (I do get to program them from time to time though, so I have an actual excuse to wach this).

Jon - thanks again for the video and I'd love to hear you play some non-thrash stuff as well. Have you considered uploading some groove-orientated play-throughs? Maybe Rosanna?

Great dynamics as always Jon. What do you refer to the hi hat 'chokes' as around 9.20? What term do you call that move? Sweet sounding rig too

is it common for this kind of music not hitting rimshots on every backbeat?
