I’ve had my 5D4 since 2017 and i am debating I should upgrade to the R5. Not a professional, just a hobby photographer. Should I sell the 5D4 and buy a R5?
I would yes, however the R5 Mrk II is rumoured to be released at some point next year. so may be worth waiting for the price drop on this model or the upgraded features on the 2nd version
I think the answer all depends on if the R5 has something you need. There won't be much of a difference in image quality, but the R5 obviously has a better autofocus system. You'd also have to use an adapter for all of your EF glass, or buy new expensive RF glass.
In 2023 one can buy used 5D4 for great prices and for hobbyist photographers these are great times. Pro quality at amateur body prices.
The 5D4 is still overpriced for 2024. There is no way I would suggest buying one today. If you already have one you might keep using it.
