If you're a photographer and wanna take pics for clients, 80D would be a better choice because it's big, feels better to hold, it definitely looks more professional than the small light m50 camera in the eyes of most clients who don't know anything about photography and cameras because they would think that the m50 is similar to the one they might have at home which is a regular affordable digital camera.

I am probably going to do some videos about the m50 myself. I picked one up on a whim and the thing is a SURPRISING little beast. 80D records in ALL-I codec, so there are some situations where it can be a bit better but the actual difference is so minimal and for UA-cam content as a "vlogging" camera nobody is going to know the difference.

So now, I'm just looking forward to the next "M" instead, which will remedy at least some of that. Thanks for the comparison, always helpful!
Hiii, so I’ve purchased the 80D after a long time of deciding which one to buy. I might still purchase the m50, my question is: will the canon 80D lenses fit the m50?
I don't consider it complaining if it helps me to decide what camera to buy. Once I buy it is just a matter of trying to figure it out. I'm wondering if I can learn it.
Fine Fine Fine..... 80D is out of my mind now. Yes it would be nice to have a weather proof case. I guess Ill just get a protection plan through Best Buy. Im pulling the trigger on the M50. THERE I SAID IT! Thanks for your reviews!
I'm looking for a new camera and I have been looking for either the 80D or the M50. Love this video because it compares both. It seems like M50 is the one I will get for my vlogs. Thanks so much!
M50 is a fantastic camera. It is everything you need to get started on youtube. I have since switched to a SonyA7iii as my primary, but the M50 is still in the bag and makes a great backup. Heck, with a 22mm pancake lens, it is smaller than most EF lenses!
I think that is the logical conclusion from a video perspective. But, to add the perspective of a still-photographer, for me it's the 80D where its size is in proportion to excellent EF lenses. Even if that weren't the case, though my hands are relatively small, I prefer a camera of size substance since I find the handling and holding far more sure.
Honestly they both pair well together. My biggest issue with mirrorless is that the battery life sucks, and it just looks like a cheap toy. Really, they still have plastic lens mounts. The DSLR is a brick, but its a professional looking brick, and the 80D is built like a German Tank. I like the M50, but Canon could have done a much better job.
As far as build quality goes I personally like how small the M50 is, I do agree however that they could have put better video specs into it at the price. It originally sold for as much as the GH4 which does much better 4k, much better 1080p and has an insane level of pro features built in.
Da BJ 200D is a great camera that I have used a lot. However for Christmas I could be getting the Canon 80D. So I’ll have two awesome cameras! I bet they’ll make a good combo
Technically the m50 has more lenses (ef and efs with adapter, plus the native efm.) The 200d also has no 4k, older image processor. Pros are the battery life and price, but that's it
Crisul Angelo Macaraig the 200D has digic 7 processor which is an amazing processor. Also some cameras HD is better than some cameras 4K many cinema films r shot HD even tho the cams r 8K. 200D beats the m50 in terms of image quality any day.
I bought my girlfriend an M50. Hands down it is insane for a small camera. DSLR are very hefty so taking it out and shooting quick was not ideal. I barely use my SLR now cause of this. Same or better quality in Lightroom to me than cameras from the last 8 years. It is as great quality as a 1DX in my comparison.

Panasonic G85 versus Canon m50 or Panasonic g7 4k shoot out. No dual pixel auto focus to save the m50.😁 I know you can make it happen or have you already made a video on one of the scenarios?
Canon m50 vs m100 strictly for video? SO the m50 that comes with the 15-45mm kit lens can even be used without an adaptor? I still can't decide between the M50, M100 and Panasonic G7 lol How about for drumming? Which of those will keep me in focus the best? Will I blow out the camera's speakers by recording drums from 6 feet away? o.o
@@TheEverydayDad Well, I was thinking of getting 2 of whichever camera I choose. Keep going back and forth between those 3. Just want something that keeps me in focus, doesn't die/stop recording after 10 mins and isn't a pain in the ass to get set up lol
M50 looks nice but I love my 80d. On your rx100 m5, when you shot this video, do you shoot in HD or 4K? Picture looks great. I was wondering about the 5 min limitation in 4K and shooting your video. I assume you’re shooting in HD with it?
Hello. It's been 5 years now, but I'm asking the same question. Now I have a Canon 600D, and I no longer lack its capabilities (of course 😅). I choose between 77D and M50. My main task is to shoot photos (I want to shoot commercials: portraits, family scenes on order). The video is most likely secondary (although I don’t know for sure). There is no money for a full frame yet. What do you recommend from these two devices? The bad ergonomics of the M50 and the lack of control buttons, as it is on the 77D, scares me. I picked one up on a whim and the thing is a SURPRISING little beast. 80D records in ALL-I codec, so there are some situations where it can be a bit better but the actual difference is so minimal and for UA-cam content as a "vlogging" camera nobody is going to know the difference.
btw, if you make it out to NYC, come ride some electric vehicles. I'm sure my audience would dig your channel. Cheers man.
I`m glad I have both! And the adapter for M50. I wait for the speed booster so i can use Canon 24-70 mm on M50 as a almost fullframe camera.... :)
Wow that would be an awesome setup. But definitely a huge lens on a tiny camera 🤣
@@TheEverydayDad Yes, but like you, my Camera is for the most time on a tripod. But its heavy on the Ronin S ;)
I think it’ll be an awesome setup 😁👍
What ? M-50 full fram Camera ya half fram
@@harikeshphotostudiodelhi2002 an adapter can lessen the crop
Hi! I don’t know if this was brought to your attention but the right audio around 9:00 is off. I only heard audio from the left. Don’t know if it’s just me but thought to let you know! Amazing video btw!
Hey Gary, very nice comparison testing of these two cameras and a great follow up after the D80 review. I'm going to stick with my 80D for a while and let all the smoke clear with all these mirrorless cameras hitting the market, also because the lenses I own for the Canon camera I own. Thanks again for the nice side-by-side test, well done. Heck, a nice drink could also warm you up too, LOL!
Thanks so much Steve! Yeah I think the 80d will hold up for years to come, 1080 is really still the standard 😁👍
Bought mine already. Still on the way here.... Cannot wait.
I have the 80D and am thinking about buying the M50. It's so much smaller! The only thing I'm not sure about - if the M lenses are good or if I would only use my big Sigma lenses etc.
Is your opinion the same? Now I choose between 77D and M50. I'm going to do commercial shooting and 600D is not enough anymore. Everyone says that I should choose the M50, but I don't like that it has an awkward grip and few buttons. What can you say about this?
@@stefan_es yeah I used the m50 for 3 years and I still prefer it over the 80D
But now I have a sony a7c because I wanted something full frame
And I love it
The size of the m50 didn’t bother me but I don’t have big hands
an update to this video would be cool comparing them based on their used prices now and their technology relative to the year
As a Videographer, I would recommend getting the m50 specially if you’re shooting for a long time since 80d is really heavy , you’re gonna be tired easily. M50 is really light and the quality is good, just get a viltrox so you can fit your L lenses to M50.
I could not wait for this video.. and you never disappoint my man...kudos
I aim to please 😁👍
@@TheEverydayDad you are the reason I bought the m50... when I saw you using it in the field
Nice! I hope you are enjoying it 😁👍
Why is it that everytime I watch one of your videos I have a smile on my face! You're just so good at this! Such an inspiration! 👊😎
By the way, I love my M50, just for the same reason you do! It's just so competent for it's size and I've always loved Canon's eco system and colour scale!
I still love my G7XII as well as it's such an excellent extra camera if I want an additional angle when I'm shooting videos or if I want to go even more portable!
Make that love video about the M50! It's worth it! I'll watch it for sure! 💜
Well thanks so much! I really appreciate that 😁👍
I wonder what 80D lens would work well with the M50... once the speed boosters come out.
any. it is the same sensor, just a different mount, you don't need a speed booster.
You know what a good idea would be? Sending me that 80D. Thanks in advance!
The 80D looks a bit soft but the M50 sharpness looks like mobile footage :/.
Almost sold my barely touched 77D for M50 over the weekend as eBay was selling them for $431. I do like having extra dials and better located/lasting battery.
They'll fit with an adapter.
Which cam you used to shot this video ?
What dslr was used to make this video?
thank you so much for this video. This is what I really need now.I subscribed and click the bell at once 😁
What camera is he using to record you in the studio? amazing video !!!
What about Canon M100? How does that one compare to the M50?
Haha you're such a big kid. Always happy energy from you. Thanks for all your great content.
I don't consider it complaining if it helps me to decide what camera to buy. Once I buy it is just a matter of trying to figure it out. I'm wondering if I can learn it.
Great video! Thanks for all the work you put into it. I was sold on getting an 80D and now ???? Torn
Your reviews are honest and full of good sense of humour. Keep up the good work.👍
Is it the m50 better for photography or the 80 d
Fine Fine Fine..... 80D is out of my mind now. Yes it would be nice to have a weather proof case. I guess Ill just get a protection plan through Best Buy. Im pulling the trigger on the M50. THERE I SAID IT! Thanks for your reviews!
Thank you for the awesome informative video! Helped me figure out my purchase decision!
I'm looking for a new camera and I have been looking for either the 80D or the M50. Love this video because it compares both. It seems like M50 is the one I will get for my vlogs. Thanks so much!
I just got a Canon 80D. It is a pretty good competitor for cameras other than its size and price.
08:32 missed opportunity to do camera bicep curls.
I was so tempted by the Cyber Week deals on the M50 but I just couldn't pull the trigger. Great comparison video.
Hey what mic where you using at the time ?
Can use the same lenses on either one?
Honestly they both pair well together. My biggest issue with mirrorless is that the battery life sucks, and it just looks like a cheap toy. Really, they still have plastic lens mounts. The DSLR is a brick, but its a professional looking brick, and the 80D is built like a German Tank. I like the M50, but Canon could have done a much better job.
As far as build quality goes I personally like how small the M50 is, I do agree however that they could have put better video specs into it at the price. It originally sold for as much as the GH4 which does much better 4k, much better 1080p and has an insane level of pro features built in.
does canon m50 have 24fps at 720P.?
Which camera you have used to creat this video
I still want the 80D
_Which one is better lowlight performance?_
I’m getting my first camera so what’s the best for me ? The m50 or another camera with similar price
Or get the 200D which is even cheaper than the M50 but you can still use the all the EF and EF-S lenses.
Da BJ 200D is a great camera that I have used a lot. However for Christmas I could be getting the Canon 80D. So I’ll have two awesome cameras! I bet they’ll make a good combo
Da BJ excellent!

The best review that I seen❤️
I'm leaning more towards the m50. I thought the footage was a little better and you can't beat the size.
I bought my girlfriend an M50. Hands down it is insane for a small camera. DSLR are very hefty so taking it out and shooting quick was not ideal. I barely use my SLR now cause of this. Same or better quality in Lightroom to me than cameras from the last 8 years. It is as great quality as a 1DX in my comparison.
thank you so much..considering how the 80d is like 25% more expensive then the M50, i'm going to get the M50
Is your opinion the same? Now I choose between 77D and M50. I'm going to do commercial shooting and 600D is not enough anymore. Everyone says that I should choose the M50, but I don't like that it has an awkward grip and few buttons. What can you say about this?
But what camera have you been using during the vlog ?! ... looks much better than both :)
Awesome review man. You just sold me on the M50.
Which is best for wedding photography canon m50 mark 2 vs canon 80d plz suggest sir
Panasonic G85 versus Canon m50 or Panasonic g7 4k shoot out. No dual pixel auto focus to save the m50.😁 I know you can make it happen or have you already made a video on one of the scenarios?
This was helpful thanks
haha you forgot to do the dudebro voice when you said 2016 at 1:36
Thank you for your help!
Canon m50 vs m100 strictly for video?
SO the m50 that comes with the 15-45mm kit lens can even be used without an adaptor?
I still can't decide between the M50, M100 and Panasonic G7 lol
How about for drumming?
Which of those will keep me in focus the best?
Will I blow out the camera's speakers by recording drums from 6 feet away? o.o
Yep the m50 can use the efm lenses without adapters.
I would pick the m50 over the m100 unless the extra money was a deal breaker.
@@TheEverydayDad Well, I was thinking of getting 2 of whichever camera I choose. Keep going back and forth between those 3.
Just want something that keeps me in focus, doesn't die/stop recording after 10 mins and isn't a pain in the ass to get set up lol
The m50 hits a lot of those boxes 👍
@@TheEverydayDad Thank you 🙏
Brilliant comparison.
What about sl2
However, they tell me from everywhere: "2023, buy a mirrorless camera"
the image from the 80d is more true to eye. M50 has too much coloration, it will be a challenge correcting wonky colors.
tell me more about battery life
I can see a tripod with something on it at 6:33. I wish you would not walk away and turn your back on it, because someone is going to steal it.
What's the title of the song at the end of your "vlogging test"? Somewhere at 8:20 seconds i think
