I just traded my 2008 TRD in for a 2019 platinum. The sad thing is, my truck was paid off, had 120000 miles and still ran wonderfully. All I had to do with my 2008 is replace the battery and the starter. GREAT truck except for the "JBL upgrade" which I think is a downgrade. it sounds like turds.
Still have my loaded doublecab 2007 with 139k miles. Been riding it on bad starter forever just never replaced it yet but I have it. Have the towiing package and 4.10 rear gears. When I see the inside of a 2020 tundra I see almost everything I see in my 2007. The 5.7 liter engine which I have is still the top motor size u can get which is another reason I didnt get a newer one. I'm just fibd with my loaded one with every option which is on my channel
Couple reliability with the C channel frame that's easy to restore, blast and refinish...you could have this truck easy for a lifetime. Dream truck right here.
This is all it needs in my opinion. Maybe a rear locking diff too but overall Toyota did a great job. I cant wait to see what the all new 2021 Tundra has!
196,000 miles on my 2007 5.7V8. Never had a single issue, did all maintenance on time, changed trans and diff oil every 50,000 cuz I tow a lot. Tundra motor and transmission are bullet proof. Time to trade up to the 2020, love the 5.7 motor

Just bought a 2020. Traded in my 07 250k miles only replaced the starter. Great truck. To say the Tundra hasn’t changed isn’t true. I feel there’s a big difference overall from my 07. Mileage is a little weak but not as bad as some say. So far I really like the truck. Only complaint is I wish it still had a CD player.
Fun fact: if you press the lock button a few times and then hold for about 5-7 seconds it will remote start your tundra even though it doesn’t technically have that option
Just bought a 2020 Tundra sr5 crewmax in cement. I changed out the interior lights to led , license plate light , cargo light, and had a remote start put in with a putco led bar. In the near future I'm doing the oem toyota headlights / fogs . Last will be some Trd blacked out rims. Then I'll just sit back as the truck racks up 300 400 thousand. .
The biggest issue with this truck is that if you buy one that is 10 years old and park in next to a new one, there is very little changes to it. Sometimes this can be a bad thing, especially when many buyers like change, but for Toyota I think it is a good thing. The platinum looks a bit too plain for me though. I have an '18 1794, so far I have installed a Banks supercharger, exhaust, tweaked the programming on the tranny, and it has actually improved my fuel mileage. I do not understand why Toyota has to run 4 cat converters when most states only require 1-2. The engine in this truck is a beast and I can only imagine how it would perform if Toyota decided to come out with a 700-800 hp version. I would definitely buy one.

I'm heard that Toyota tundra 2019 and 2020 they remove extra transmission oil cooler, I recently bought a new 2020 I'm very worried it loses reliability, it will bring me problems in the future
I was about to get the 2020 until I heard about the 2021 redesign ...12 inch screen and a redesigned front end...I haven't heard too much about the engine or trans....
Toyota did a pretty nice job updating the interior. I just want them to update the power train now. The 5.7L and 4.6L V8s, while durable, are old as hell. Toyota has a much newer 5.0L V8 which they could easily tune to put out more torque and get better gas mileage. The 6 speed transmission is also extremely outdated with Ford and GM using 10 speeds and Ram using an 8 speed
Moe Anthony I’d say the fuel economy is pretty broken. In every application, the 5.7 gets horrendous gas mileage, while every competitor with a V8 gets several MPG better and they have more power. Toyota’s new 5.0 has no reason to be less durable and reliable than the 5.7

The lack of the grab handle on the driver's side has me mystified. I now ASSUME Toyota feels it's OK to grab the steering wheel to yank your butt into the truck. And, it will not cause any problems after years of use to the steering wheel or electronics in the wheel. But no one seems to know if that's true or not.
Ill take reliability anytime , anyday over fancy updates. Gas could be better in my 2020 but it is what it is ..chances of numerous service runs highly unlikely

A crewmax with a 8 foot bed? Do you want this to be a semi truck or something? I can see a 6 foot bed with the crewmax but 8 foot is too big. Nobody offers that.
I drove them all and I think Tundra is the best. Dodge drives nice and has good features, but they don't feel rugged or tough and they are not particularly reliable. Chev drives nice but the interior are full of cheap ass thin plastic that rattles and buzzes. They have issues not widely known with oil pumps. Ford is probably the best out of the big 3 but I hate Ford because Ford owner are the most obnoxious crowd I've ever fucking seen. Tundra's are built better and feel more rugged. Yeah they are pigs on gas, but Ram is only marginally better.
Barely hung, where are you getting "not particulary reliable" from? Ram 1500 2019 has some of the highest reliability ratings out there. I am not a Ram fan, but you are flowing total bullshit.
@@drn13355A 2019 Ram should be 100 percent realible as far as I'm concerned but yes Ram is not very reliable. Problems with the electronics is prevalent, the heating vents, the fronts ends are weak, manifold failed early. Show me a link to a publication saying the ram is the most realible and il call it bullshit
I drove them all as well. I'm not a loyalty guy either. When I decided to get a truck I thought it would get either a ford or the tundra. I ended up buying a Ram Rebel, rugged, by far the nicest interior(tundra was the worst) and with incentives I paid less then they would sell the Tundra limited. Reliability? Time will tell. 10,000 k so far so good.
A more fuel efficient V8 engine, twin panel moonroof, heated rear seats, 400 watt power inverter for charging laptops and power folding running boards would be great options.
Only with the Toyota Remote Connect phone app and service. There's no remote start button on the fob. So, you have to pay for annual service which I think is around $80/year. You can also get other vehicle data from the app.
Ya it’s dated it’s a truck I’d buy it because of that but I wish they would try to improve the mpgs and maybe the power a little on this thing they’re so extremely hard on gas it’s unbelievable for a 2020 truck it’s just as bad as the obs Chevy I had
Thank you for another great review. So, still no remote-start and the opening of the door is delayed - like the earlier versions of auto-unlock of other manufacturers of 5 years ago. They should have gone with the instant unlock that has been out for a year or two. And the lack of remote-start is a deal killer these days. wait.. no driver assist grip? On a Platinum?? And plastics? eeessh wow.. 2020 is looking very dated already.
Its weird that this pickup lacks of a lit features others have and only one engine that is not fuel efficient the only thing that I can say for this pickup is reliable and nothing more
Charlie Montero It actually gets better mpg than other 1/2 tons when loaded/pulling a load: canadiantruckkingchallenge.ca/wp-content/uploads/CTKC_2018_Report_Summary.pdf
Lol I think it’s a microcosm of our society, to say that fancy features and electronics are more important in a pickup truck, than reliability and longevity.
It's a nice truck but like I said before, if they worked on better fuel mileage it would be in the bag. My sons 2003 tundra gets terrible fuel mileage but it's good for a 1st vehicle. Who wants a new vehicle that you have to constantly keep putting gas in. People want some kind of decent fuel mileage. You have to wow people with important stuff 1st.
This truck weighs over 4000lbs and has a V8. Its not going to get good mileage. It does have an eco mode for the highway which increases mileage to about 23 a gallon.
I have a 2003 f150 supercrew with a 175,000 miles and it still gets better fuel mileage then a new Tundra. My sons 2003 Tundra fuel mileage is worse then my truck
Bb Cala that’s bs. Unless you have a V6 MAYBE. I had a 5.4 and that thing drank gas like koolaid. Your sons truck probably has a small gas tank. Or larger, heavier tires.
Well I have been working on vehicles for a long time. There is ways to check all kinds of things like fuel mileage. Trust me young man. Fuel tank is a least 25 gal. I drive 220 mile round trip. Hands down Toyota drinks more gas. My 2003 sipercrew 4x4 gets better mileage. Both trucks on stock tires n rims. But Toyota has new tires n rims but still stock. It's ok to argue the factor. But facts are facts trust me guy I know. I have worked on vehicle's for almost 40 years n have done all kinds of test
Bb Cala okay, just saying it might be smaller. Guy next door to me has a tank on his 2014 that is like 21 gallons or something. I had a supercrew 2 wheel drive 5.4 2007 F-150 and it drank the gas. My Silverado I just got rid of drank the gas at a 13-14 avg on 33s. Tundra I just got is 15-16 mpg average. Gets about 19 doing 50 on the highway. I’ll agree, it’s a half-ton that gets about 3/4 ton mileage. By today’s standards anyway. But ask yourself what a little bit of fuel mileage means, when you’re looking at replacing an engine at 105k miles in the near future. Happens all the time on these newer trucks.

Barely hung, where are you getting "not particulary reliable" from? Ram 1500 2019 has some of the highest reliability ratings out there. I am not a Ram fan, but you are flowing total bullshit.
Issues with oil pumps you say?
You should do a 2007 vs 2020
What’s the point of having dual climate control if it changes for both sides ???
It's synced in the video but it doesn't have to be the same temp
2020 titan pro 4x wins this in every catagory..
Not quality tho
Definitely not RELIABLITY, titan is an absolute joke and if u gave me one id sell it
How much?
Pricing is at the end of the video
A more fuel efficient V8 engine, twin panel moonroof, heated rear seats, 400 watt power inverter for charging laptops and power folding running boards would be great options.
Remote start?
Only with the Toyota Remote Connect phone app and service. There's no remote start button on the fob. So, you have to pay for annual service which I think is around $80/year. You can also get other vehicle data from the app.
@@Arnamus73 you can on some vehicles, with a certain button combo on the key fob.
Key fob remote start on the Limited
Ya it’s dated it’s a truck I’d buy it because of that but I wish they would try to improve the mpgs and maybe the power a little on this thing they’re so extremely hard on gas it’s unbelievable for a 2020 truck it’s just as bad as the obs Chevy I had
is the exhaust the trd exhaust?
Nope, the TRD exhaust is standard on the Pro package. Dealer option on the others. The stock exhaust sounds great as is.
I'm glad it doesn't have running boards
wOw that was sick though
Lovely Toyota
Perfact pickup nice
Thank you for another great review. So, still no remote-start and the opening of the door is delayed - like the earlier versions of auto-unlock of other manufacturers of 5 years ago. They should have gone with the instant unlock that has been out for a year or two. And the lack of remote-start is a deal killer these days. wait.. no driver assist grip? On a Platinum?? And plastics? eeessh
wow.. 2020 is looking very dated already.
They do come stock with remote start. These guys did not give a very thorough review
Andrew Beck this shows that it gets the worst
Is it diesel engine?
Tundras last for ever
Quilted trim looks so 50's........not to my liking.
1794 same price, equipment level, different trim.
14 MPG.
Awesome truck but the start button looks like Toyota just slapped it on. Doesn’t look good and is out of place
