Cool demo. I’ve got the combo 20. I’ve found the origin to be a really nice tube amp esp at that price. It has cool features and takes pedals well.

This is your best video yet. That thing is a monster! I think I am going to have to add one to my arsenal.

I order my Origin 50 head from L&M before it was available. The extra watts does put it dead close to a JMP50 Plexi. Trust me skip the clever the built in volume cuts. Get an attenuator. Keep the master on 8. Skip the boost!!! Then do not go over nuts with the gain. Just up to a Crunch. If you need more use a pedal. The reliability and even tubes hold up even with a lot of gigs.
    I had a JMP50 when they were new, lol ...I am 77.

Bump for the algorithm. Keep em coming. Would love to see you compare the YCV4050 with comparable fender and marshall amps.

Something dark and fuzzy about these tones. My thoughts is it's either those epiphone humbuckers - which I have experience with, I find I need an 18" patch cord from guitar into a buffered pedal to get some highs back into the tone that seems to be really missing. Which isn't practical to do, unless you attach a small buffer pedal to your guitar strap. Could also be those 70/80 speakers. I find with some circuits they are ear piercing ice picks - and with other circuits they sound dark and muffled. That 2x12 cabinet needs two greenbacks.

Maybe it's the mics he's using? But my thoughts exactly that isn't good tone at all, muddy and super fuzzy/no headroom try something else tones. Always remember that everything you buy is grift at some level, so low priced speakers are a warning sign. Where are the cabs made, etc. Lots of questions.

It's because of the middle humbucking position instead of bridge. Not everyone's favourite.

What is a buffered pedal? Never heard of that before.

@@madinjun it's just any pedal that has a buffer circuit in the input. lots of pedals have buffers. They're in circuit even when the pedal is in bypass mode. True bypass pedals have no buffer - or I should say no buffer when it's in bypass.

Well…I’m sure how to say this…not everyone has the “ear” for how to dial in a classic guitar tone, or the feel to coax it out of their instrument. I suspect that’s the case here. That being said, the Origin 20 is not at all like a classic Plexi. I owned a 100 watt 1968 Super Lead, and it’s a totally different animal. I found that the Origin 20’s controls don’t interact the way most amps do, hence the numerous video posted by guys who figured out its quirks. This demo shows that if you approach the amp in a traditional manner, what you end up with is a whole lot of mud-sorry. I can attest from personal experience that a great tone can be coaxed out of this amp. Also, if you choose to use delays and reverb in the effects loop, and want a lot of gain, you need to keep the master volume around 3 or 4. Otherwise, your repeats won’t have any distortion. I found this out the hard way.
Regarding my comments about not having the knack to come up with a great tone, it took me a long time to solve that puzzle. I can’t stand to listen to live recordings from my early days of fumbling around. Just awful. In the end, a friend who was a veteran guitarist showed me his formula-a guitar plugged straight into the amp, crank it, then control everything with the guitar’s volume control. With a few of my own wrinkles, I follow that formula to this day.
If you’re considering buying an Origin 20, try one out first. But watch the demo videos I mentioned earlier before doing so. Good hunting.

He ruined the tone by using middle humbucking position. And way too much trebble on the trebble knob for this amp too
