You do need a cab with it. It's probably not a good beginner amp, although if you have a lot of money you could go for one of these. Maybe a Roland Cube of some kind or an affordable valve combo.
@@MrPolevaulter thank you Elmo, I was expecting this type of answer and you're right. No I don't have a lot of money at the moment but I'm saving them, for this reason I was thinking to buy a good one instead of a shit like the Code. I've never heard anything about this Roland, have you ever tried one of them? Btw I think that I've found a good amp (I was only thinking to buy a Marshall because of Yngwie) and Yngwie himself used it for small gigs and for the play loud videos, it's the Fender Roc Pro 1000 combo, he said that it's great for studying sessions and small events. Unfortunately it's discontinued but I've found a guy that is selling one of theme here in Italy so I think that I'll contact him and if he seems ok I will make a blind buy for that one. Sounds great in the studio environment , would like to hear it in a live gig situation to see whether it’s up to the job or if the 50 watt would be more suitable, would also like to here how it sounds as a Blues amp, all in all though a Marshall for that money, it’s got to be good. Love what you’re doing with it mate.
I'm going to see a Marshall Evening at Sounds Great in the UK next month just to see the 20watt head....it's not a lot of money and can't sound that good for an amp they have clearly cut corners on....but you made it sound awesome....you said it was light so are the transformers going to last....they are the heart and soul of an amp....can I ask what speaker your running through....again you made it sound awesome....k.j.
Finally got my origin 20h. Sounds amazing with a 212 2061 cab. I dont use any pedals, all knobs cranked exept tilt (zero) and bass about 3 to zero. The rest is done with the guitarknobs. Very plexi😎
Hi, I've got one question, for a budget plexi sound like, would you go for a second hand Marshall Vintage Modern 2266, an Origin 50 or a Bugera 1960 ? Many thanks for your advises... all
I haven't tried the Vintage Modern, so not really sure about that. The Bugera is very good in terms of sound, but I've understood that they can be a bit unreliable. Then again, the Origin doesn't sound quite as good. I have a couple of videos on the Bugera if you want to check them out.
@@MrPolevaulter Thank you for your response and disponibility. I'm very happy with my DSL20H on my MX212AR with V30 but I need a more "old school" amp for my 4x12 greenback cab. Cheers !
Well done my son!, Excellent!, I was wondering what this amp sounds like playing some Malmsteen through it. It sounds perfect for Yngwie's tone . Fantastic playing skills by the way. I know how hard a work it is to achieve that level of playing. Greetings from the UK.
Hi Elmo, great and funny review as usual, good job! There's something I don't understand: you always tell you put a volume pot in the effect loop, so you can crank the amp but keep the volume at resonable level. But doing so you get only preamp tubes saturation, cause the effect loop is put after pre but before power amp section, so you can't get power tubes saturation.. that's the one that gives you the 'creamy' good distortion. While using an attenuator after power stage, and just before speaker, you could get that saturation. Am I wrong? Why do you always talk like the two methods were 'almost equivalent'? Do the PLEXY style amps work different? Just to understand so I can use the better method for tubes saturation in my origin. Thanks!!
I don't know the technical details of it, but it works faily well on my Plexi. It didn't really work on the Origin. I have a video on the topic: ua-cam.com/video/0LR0haLKyng/v-deo.html&t=
@@MrPolevaulter Thanks man, the video is very clear....plexy does not have volume, so putting one in the loop does the job. What do you mean by 'in the origin it didn't work'....that lowering the volume by the loop pot, the sound became worst? That it didn't keep the 'sound' it had on higher volumes? Or what?
I do hope you review the 20 watt combo of Origin,, cuz i want to buy it. I seek yjm tone for my whole life, but on tight budget. Origin gives me the way. You're the only youtuber i know who plays yjm licks on all product reviews.

My friend... What do You think about this amp 20c with evh5150 Overdrive.. you consider that those thowether play very good?
Great video, would you suggest me this as a first amp instead of the Code 50? Do you need also the cab?
Look for one of them brother with Hs3,Hs4 and Fury pickups is a very very good Valve combo for Yngwie's style!
@@MC-uj7tv I did a video of the Cube: ua-cam.com/video/NalAwZY8IEg/v-deo.html
The Roc Pro might be a good option too :)
@@MrPolevaulter Thanks for the link bro, I can't wait to see the video! Yeah the fact is that I want a great amp for playing Yngwie's stuff but at the same time good for my apartment. My neighbors are a pain in the ass so even if I want I can't use a Marshall head here. Btw have you ever tried the Roc Pro?
@@MC-uj7tv Haven't tried it, no. You mean the Fender, right?
Prefect brother I have two yngwie stratocaster the maple neck and rosewood version been looking for Marshall I can shred with I seriously thinking about buying one for home use cause I use headrush with hx effect in its loop for gigs
Cool stuff :)
Great review by one of my favorite guitarists
Cheers!
I really like this amps’ sound and punchyness Elmo!!! Nice 👍🏻
Nice :)
I think that’s the amp for me , should go well with my les Paul , good review 👍🏻
Thanks!
It's a great amp. I have the 50h....does everything I need it to, great tone, loud, and has that sizzle I look for in an amp.
Great video man, thanks for posting !!
And thank you :)
Might just have to get one.
Kevin Sweeney Did the A/B video today. The Plexi is much better. It does cost 4 times as much though 😂
What happened with this one? - You seemed to like it more than the 50 watters. Did it end up not loud enough for band jamming? Thanks for your vids.
Just didn't like it enough. Sold it to make room for other gear to review.
Holy shit when you burst into that first run!
I have a orgin 50h and cannot get any distortion or overdrive naturally from the amp. Hoping it’s the cab and not the amp.
Sorry to hear, but it sounds like it's the amp.
Fantastic Elmo....!
Thanks Janice :)
Thanks Martin!
Thanks :) I ran it through Celestion Greenbacks.
It has its place but aside from its ability to play quieter, it's not doing anything that would cause me to replace one of my Superleads with one.
Finally got my origin 20h. Sounds amazing with a 212 2061 cab. I dont use any pedals, all knobs cranked exept tilt (zero) and bass about 3 to zero. The rest is done with the guitarknobs. Very plexi😎
Nice :)
Can you get van halen tones from this amp? Please reply soon.

Hi Elmo!
Great video.
Is this 20w amp loud enough for gigs and rehersals?
Thanks Celso 😊
Not for my purposes, but for some it might. You'd have to try it and see.
Hi,
I've got one question, for a budget plexi sound like, would you go for a second hand Marshall Vintage Modern 2266, an Origin 50 or a Bugera 1960 ?
Cheers!
sound really good and meaty despite having manflu sounds very impressive and it looks good too
Cheers :)
Or what?
@@frankthepriest1220 It's been a while now, but the sound got worse. I don't remember exactly how anymore, but there was a definite difference.
excellent - a definite meaty resonance and good looking to boot
Shows off his playing more than demoing the amp, yea that was a big help.
Hmmmm, this demo does a really good job at keeping the Origin on my shopping list lol.
Trevor 😊
You don't have to "screw the button", just turn the knob or potentiometer. Nice demo! Greetings to Suomi.
Thanks Paul.
I love your T-Shirt Elmo where to get me one? Good video man.
Thanks :)
I bought the shirt on eBay. I also bought one that says "Education is important, but playing guitar is importanter" :D
So that’s how Ritchie Blackmore got his tone.
amazon has marshall origin 20w head @ $549
and origin 20w combo w/10" speaker @$649
Isn't that what I said (about the head)? And the 50 watt head is $650. I didn't check the combo.
I do hope you review the 20 watt combo of Origin,, cuz i want to buy it. I seek yjm tone for my whole life, but on tight budget. Origin gives me the way. You're the only youtuber i know who plays yjm licks on all product reviews.
Great sounds!!!!!!!
Megan Wallace Thanks 😊
Hi, mighty fine demo! How do you find it compares to ally speaking to your Plexis?
Thanks! It didn't really compete with the Plexi :(
Say if you wanted to get 80s tone by using a overdrive pedal?
Get an 80's pedal would be my guess.
A Ratt is generally good for 80's
