Actually, your writer got it wrong…. Killing the Sand Worms means you remove spice. Removal of spice = no reason for Empire to colonize your planet. With no reason to be colonized, the armies leave…. Their best weapon against the armies was Water as it helped rid them of any reason for foreign armies to be there.
Without Spice the Navigators of the Spaceguild loose their prescience abillity to "see" a path for Spaceships. No Spice simply means no faster than Light travel. If you see a worm, this is your only chance to survive. Close your eyes and say: “I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain."
There is another simple way described in the books. Ride a sandworm (fremen pull that off by pulling out their "scales" with hooks and exposing flesh) to the death! The worm will not dive into the sand because it has its flesh exposed. If you ride it hard enough, it would expire from exhaustion.
This is assuming you even manage to successfully ride one. Their an aggressive beast for their size and the older ones probably have some level of sentience and would've learned a trick of two over time. Plus, there's the manner of Dune's people who outright worship the worms and riding one to death could be seen as a heresy.
I thought you can't ride it to death. It just stops from exhaustion. It's actually how they can get off the worm; they jump. They also judge distance based off of thumpers. If a Freman says it took 15 thumpers to get there. They had to pack like 15 thumpers (stick rhythm broadcasting device), to summon 15 worms consecutively to get to their destination. Which is kinda crazy considering how far some of the distances in the book are.
Bless the Maker and His water. Bless the coming and going of Him. May His passage cleanse the world. May He keep the world for His people. Frank Herbert
I'm very interested in seeing how they decided to portray the baby sandworm in the fremen rite/ritual Paul and Jessica take part of... Haven't read all of the son's books but definitely most of them and all of Frank Herbert's. Was not disappointed by the new film, you?
I have an idea. Underground giant razor sharp apple slicer. Vibrations made behind it attract the worm, they travel fast directly at it, shredding themselves in the slicer
In order to deliver it to the worm you require vehicles, vehicles will make vibrations that the worm will gobble up, killing the plan. Digging a hole and embedding the Giant Razor into the sand would make much vibration too. I like how you think tho
@@user-xz9fw6lk3p This isn't the real problem though. Cutting them into pieces only makes NEW worms you have to worry about. You can't shred the whole thing at once (they are too long) and even if you could I doubt you could do it finely enough to ensure nothing can rise from the pieces.
However the Radiation from the nuke would make it Uninhabitable not to mention the collateral damage and the possibility of accidentally destroying the mining facility
wait, what if you get an explosive that sets stuff on fire because sand turns to glass and then the sandworm will be moving trough sharp glass and cutting itself
Then you have to be a Reverend Mother to survive the toxic Water of Life. And the Kwisatz Haderach ( the end product of hundred generations of selective breeding ) to lift the Veil that hinders the Revend Mothers to see the Future.
The reason why the fremen released the water was so there planet could be habitable again, not a desert. Throughout the book they said they didn’t care what happened to the other houses, all they wanted was a nice home. I honestly believe that they used the worms as a means to an end, (even though they worshipped them) It kinda makes sense when you think about it, if all you want is peace and stability why let death snakes roam your world and eat whoever or whatever they want.
Also remember that the ending of 1984 Dune was extremely problematic for anyone living on Arrakis. The worms produced oxygen, and there aren't a great deal of other organisms on Arrakis at the time which could produce a substantial amount of oxygen. Killing the sandworms could have caused an oxygen crisis, rendering the planet unfit for human life.
The reason water is toxic is that the sandworm is essentially a biological blast-furnace. Water in very small amounts (like say a human body) is no problem, but if you get say a swimming pool of the stuff then it will mess up the chemical reactions inside the worm and stop the reaction.
8:51 That "famous" non-canon scene from David Lynch's disastrous attempt to adapt Dune wherein the Bene Gesserit also had telepathy and nothing else made sense? Yeah we don't talk about that.
what if you use sound as a weapon an extremley powerful and low frequency sound because its sensitive to vibration sound causes mass vibration at low frequencies so just do what they did in the silence but just low frequencies instead of high
"They can spit two dozen feet" That's only about 7.5 metres, not very scary for a mythical creature that grows to well over 450 metres in length. For contrast, that's the equivalent to a person who is 6 feet tall only being able to spit 2.8 centimetres. You'd think that a creature half a kilometre long would be able to spit at least 100 metres.
Spice give psychic powers doesn't it? Maybe when the worm is alive, it can grow larger than we can understand because it can support itself with the power of its mind
@@Ki_Adi_Mundi well, no telekinesis in humans. Maybe it does that only for worms, because if they could see into the future, they would be a lot more dangerous and likely unbeatable.
