I worked in Scotland in the early 1980's for an Italian, taking hunting parties around mostly Fife and the east side, but occasionally up to Thurso and Wick. One early morning we drove up into Glencoe, into an eerie stillness just before dawn, and came across a herd of deer grazing right by the road. All the Italian hunters in the back of my van were stunned into silence, as was I. We stopped and turned off the van and just sat in the serene beauty of the moment as the animals slowly moved away, not overly perturbed by our presence. The only time my Italian clients didn't want to get their guns out and start blazing away, it was such an unforgettable moment! There is no country like it on Earth - I wish I had seen more of the west coast and climbed a few Monroes before I left. Forever in my heart.
