Trespassing is not illegal, it’s the refusal to move on when trespassing becomes a crime as the refusal to move turns it into a confrontational offence. So all these signs saying trespassers will be prosecuted are just BS as it is not enforceable. I’m not saying don’t move on when asked, usually if you are respectful and decent, 9/10 the landowner will allow you to stay as they will see you as an experienced wild camper and not a moron, it be discreet, don’t draw attention to yourself, arrive late, leave early and LNT always.

idk if you’ve read the police guidance on this, but “trespass with intent to reside” is indeed now a criminal rather than civil matter. You don’t have to have a vehicle for this to apply, and your vehicle doesn’t have to be parked on the land you’re camping on. It’s specifically designed to screw over travellers. In the guidance it says “police officers should take care not to gold plate human rights”. Being “likely to cause significant distress” is something of a thought crime- if you’re there, they can decide that you’re scouting for a larger camp of tent people to join you, arrest you for being “likely to cause distress”.

While most bears are asleep in their cold dens the cougar and wolves now snarl at each other over their scarce dead prey. .Ignore it. Safe by a fire.

Sometimes near towns, sometimes totally in the middle of nowhere living off caught fish and bunnies.. Got a bit much one winter when I caught a whole in my growndsheet, and discovered palets .

In the US, you're allowed to camp on public land and national forests for up to 14 days.

I lived in a tent for 4 years (in England) but that was 20 years ago.
