Have had to do this a few times. Thanks for this! I wish I had watched this while this bat was flying around my apartment at 2 AM! I live in Ireland and had never seen a bat there, though I’d seen bats in other countries. Interesting, about the ‘turning the light off’: I kept thinking a bat was like an insect and would be attracted to the light, so as it flew around, I kept turning the lights ON in its path. I know now I must have frightened the poor thing even more. Thank you! I’ll know what to do now! :.)
Thanks for this video. Had a bat yesterday and tonight. Have a lot of open sections without doors. I sealed off different rooms with sheets and waited to see where it had roosted during the day. Planned on opening window from outside. Luck would happen it was in the living room and flew into bathroom where I shut it in and opened the window from outside. Now he's flying free outside and I can get a good night's sleep cause I was freaking out last night.

I have an elderly neighbor, whom I've told to call me ANY time, day or night if there's every a problem with anything. On occasion, she will wake up to a bat flying around her bedroom, and calls me. This week it was two nights in a row. Thankfully, she has a sliding glass door with a screen (The screen is always closed) in her room. So I make sure the lights in the room are off.. then go outside on the deck and open the screen door and leave a flashlight on, just outside. In a matter of minutes they follow the light out and no problem. They are incredibly flexible creatures and can squeeze through a half inch hole, so in the morning I'm going to check out her attic... it's either He or Me.
I’m in a apt building lol Top floor. It landed on my sleep apnea mask exhausted panting (my cat had been chasing it before we noticed it I had to lock him in the bathroom) anyways I just talked to the bat. Softly with nice words and put the container near it and guided it into the container with some cardboard then I covered it and it screamed once and then stopped and was quiet. I let it go out side and it did this very soft noise almost like it was saying “thank you” 😊
I woke up in a dorm room with a bat circling and hitting the window blinds. I opened the door to the hallway but he kept circling and hitting the window blinds. I pulled the liner out of the trashcan and used the can to catch the bat. In one quick move I was able to intercept the bat with the trashcan as he followed his route around the room; the upside down can kept him confined and isolated on the floor until maintenance came with some gloves to remove the bat to his home out by the maintenance shed. He assured me the campus bats had been tested and didn't have rabies. All went well.
Woke up to a slight breeze thinking it was the fan, then starting looking around, fan was not even on and about 10 seconds later I hear a flutter....That’s when I realized I had a bat in the room btw it was pitch dark 3:00am and I was tired so I went back to sleep.
Wow..you're a savage. It is also 3am and I got up to go to the bathroom and it flew by my head. My boyfriend is trying to get it to go out now..2nd night in a row.
They usually recommend a rabies shot if you wake up to a bat in your house even without a bite mark because they’re so small. . You can’t survive rabies once you get symptoms it’s 100 percent fatal once symptoms show - only chance of being saved is getting vaccinated right away. A man in Canada died after a bat just barely brushed against his hand that he flicked away. Serious stuff.
I actually do not mind them they can stay as long as they like, but not pooping on the carpet, that does not mean I will not leave the window open for them
just caught another bat, that makes 5 in this house. we have 2 "bat nets", and ive gotten pretty good at getting them. when they are flying around they usually take like 3 or 4 turns in exactly the same path through the air and you have to just time it well and be brave haha
I had two inside at the same time. I have only a small apartment. They were bumping into each other and the ceiling but they refused to go out the obviously open door. Don't understand it
Bats can fly very fast in a circular fashion, around 80 to 100 mph if inside your house or building. I saw one before at a Schenectady, NY church years ago inside a fellowship hall flying near the celing in a circular fashion.
We had a bat in our house a couple nights ago. Two of our cats got it before I could calm down enough to get it out safely. I am researching what to do for next time because I feel bad about it. 😔
So, storytime! I went to boarding school for most of my school career and I was sure there was a bat colony near the building - I honestly thought it was awesome, since we had a chapel connected, added some extra goth to it. Anyway, when I got out of the shower room, the second after I opened the sliding door to get into the dorm room hall, I see a small fruit bat zooming right by me, chirping like crazy. Staff did *THE COMPLETE OPPOSITE* of what you just recommended. They screamed, hid in one of the students' dorm rooms (with other doors WIDE open) and sent someone out in the hall to chase the poor fella with a bath towel. Hilarious as that was, I really felt bad for the little guy. They eventually caught it and set it free outside.
I did not expect I would spend tonight preparing to release a bat I caught in my house in a cardboard box, but here we are. Poor thing pooped while I was capturing it (had gloves on, used a box). If you find a bat on an exposed brick wall like I did, don't bother trying to capture it without help. That little guy clinged on for life and it took forever to get it into the box even with gentle prodding from a piece of cardboard. I was unlucky and all bat rescuers /wildlife rescuers were closed. So, I did it myself. I really hope I did not injure this poor little thing. Whelp... It's almost dark. Almost time to release the thing. What an odd way to end today.
My mother had told me that when I was little and still playing outside at night, she saw a bat clinging on my lower lip and freaking me out. Maybe it was momentarily, I don't know if it bit me or not, I really can't remember it but to this day I'm still not turned into a vampire. One day perhaps..
I just had a bat in my house this morning.I put the cat in my bedroom and shut the door. Then, I opened up the storm and screen on the nearest window.I sat down quietly and watched him circle the dining room several times and exit out the window...Not the first time I have done this..They are such graceful creatures..
I'm sorry but I freaked out. Last night I woke up to the sound of stuff falling off my dresser. I flip the light on & there was a bat flying around my room. I ran shut the bedroom door. There was no one to help me at 3am. I called fire department. They said "Uh. Yeah. We don't handle these types of calls." I was like "Awh... I really need assistance! I'm afraid to go in my room!" So I call police department. They dispatched someone to my house 40 minutes later. In the mean time I was thinking. Ohh wow that's going to look great showing up to work in pajamas cuz I sure am not going into my room to get my uniform. Heck no. Finally they got it. It was hanging on my curtain.
@S R I totally would I'm not handling that thing so thankful to the person who commented so if I see it tomorrow I'm calling the police I feel its hiding in house somewhere we haven't found it yet tho
Bats don’t give you coronavirus. You can not catch it from any animal except for humans. It’s not transmit-able from bats. They can of course, carry other diseases. Not all do, but some can, and you can only get sick from a bat if they bite or scratch you.
Week ago Saw a bat vibing in my living room and it nearly gave me a heart attack. Called my folks who are 12 hrs away and was in verge of crying. Then mustered up courage and used my broom stick to make it move. Thankfully it went out. I am glad it was not flying around else i would on the ground unconscious. Now UA-cam is recommending this video which was posted 9years ago. Whoa now they can sense our fears too 🫠
My dad did the same the stepped on it and killed it. All while I had a anxiety attack in the living room. I’m now hearing the scraping again and starting to freak ..
Oh shit hope mine wasnt but I found a tiny bat turd on my bedsheets not too far from where I was crouching down low next to bed after having just spotted it flying around my room and bolted up out of bed and got down low next to bed and covered my head with sheets shaking for two mins then quickly left room
Had a bat in my house, gave it 2 1/2 hrs to get out through open windows, it chose not to leave, a tennis racket is an excellent way to stop them in mid flight, it had to pay the price and die. I lost patients with it.
Got two flying after each other under a lower roof outside my house right now, they can't get in because I shut everything. They can just go since it's open space on both sides and there are large trees on one side on the street and on the other side on my neighbor's but the little buggers are just going back and forth. Already turned off the lights and am just observing their super fast movements. Hopefully they'll tire and leave.
1 got into my room and i forgot to lift the net and just left him in the room now I'cant find him anywhere and i'm kind of scared because rabies, it somehow got inside my room trou the window while the net was on the window i have no idea how he couldn't have gotten trou the doors they were closed.
Yes, I am watching this video because I had a bat in my house last night. I turned on the lights, which you said not to do. I did open the door to the outside. I did add a couple of things not mentioned in the video. I got some heavy leather work gloves and a plastic leaf rake. The bat eventually flew out the door to freedom, but not before I knocked off a couple of magnets off the refrigerator. Oh, one other thing........my cat was going nuts all through my ordeal. Now, I am trying to figure out how the bat entered my house. This is about episode number three.
I've had 9 instances of bats getting in my house in the past 3 days. It's really easy to catch them and I think they're cool so it's not so bad but I really need to figure out what's going on.
Thanks bro! This weird bat wasnt leaving although the window was open. It sat on the edge of the window door but wasn't leaving. And i kept sliding the window door slowly until it was outside and me inside
Beautiful ~ well done, thanks so much, I keep attempting to tell my mum in Canada that the little fellas really don't want to get stuck in her hair & suck her blood just because they have gotten into the house. lol. She shut one in the toilet all night poor little thing & it was rescued by a guy in the morning & was fine. I forgive her as she is now a 95 year old little lady...same goes for mice with her give her the willies, I love them both although I know the rodents must be controlled. : (
The bat that entered my flat last night is now not leaving! I don't know what to do. I'm calm and ok now since I realized it doesn't wanna get on top me and touch me, but this evening when I entered my flat and suddenly saw it started to fly around I was so surprised that it had been all inside all day probably hiding somewhere sleeping. It's obvious that it's not anxious as much as it was yesterday so I get a feeling that it's deciding to whether to stay here or not. the windows are open and it shouldn't be difficult to find the way out. it even stayed calm on the wall tonight and let me get close and have a good glance.

I had one in my house tonight !! I dont mind saying that at first I shit myself. But then I composed and got it into the kitchen where a window was wide open and eventually it found it's way out. It was more scared than me though, that's for sure.
Electro Same here! Two of them right before sunrise. Double luck....and double terror. They have roosted somewhere for the day so more fun at dusk I guess. Thanks for the laugh! These comments are killing me 😂🤣😂😂🤣😂
I was away for the weekend and came home to a bat in my apartment. It was daytime and I saw the droppings around so I knew it was sleeping somewhere. Lo and behold, there it was behind a curtain by my opened (but screened) window. I popped out the screen and out it went. Absolutely terrifying.
Lol a bat entered my friends room and it didnt went well The bat was exhausted because it was flying around trying to find an exit but couldnt since everyone was there.. it was literally scared the hell out ..i felt bad for the bat
I just had two in my bedroom yesterday ! I opened the curtains and the windows wider and hid under my blanket hahahah after sometimes they were out. I love bats but it was scary !
The scariest thing ive ever delt with a little brown one got into the apt complex flew to the second floor squeezed under my apartment door and my cat tackled him and at first i though he had caught a cicada and so i pushed him aside but then the bat flew into the living room and around and around like 12 times the cat was locked onto him with his eyes so i held the cat back. The bat kept going over my head and omg. .soooo scary. And then he flew to my bathroom where i opened a small window and closed the door and waited an hour and the cat kept barging in the bathroom because the door doesnt shut all the way. So i went in and caught it with a small waste basket and some cardbord. Lol worked like a charm. Bat completely unharmed. So i went out of the building in my nightgown and went out by our side walk and released him on the grass. He took the hint and flew away. Thank you baby jesus. Ohhhh my good ness my heart is racing. Wow. Thanks for your video. It helped a bit at least calm my nerves. Wooooo! Man....
I've got one in here right now, swooping around my head!! :O I'm trying to scare it away by playing owl, hawk, and angry cat sounds loudly from my phone.
This happened and I tried to hit it with a broom - no such luck, couldn't even get close. However, when it landed on the curtains I smacked it with a dish towel and then hurled it out the window. I hope I didn't hurt it, I couldn't find it outside so hopefully it was not injured. The sound its wings made was very unique, very leathery, if that is a word.
I was swinging a sheet in bedroom to trap it. It was circling and swooping at me. That’s when I decided to run and shut the door. It eventually got into hallway and has hidden in the house. Night 2: it woke up at 9:45 pm in the hallway. I ran to a bedroom, and stayed there for the night. Daylight is safe to come out and try to find it. He is sleeping somewhere. How long can he survive without water? He doesn’t make a squeak or pitch an echo.
I love how people in the comments just instantly jump to killing the animal as a solution. Y’all didn’t pay any attention to the video. Bats aren’t out to hurt you. They have no interest in you. We need them. A world without bats would be much scarier.
A bat just flew into my bedroom, I ran out and closed the doors and lights. Hoping he finds his way out through the window before dawn. Sleeping in the spare bedroom tonight!! lol
It’s been almost 24 hours since I locked the bat in my room. The windows have been left wide open and when I checked during the day there was not sign of it. It’s dark again, and I will have a peek to see if it has woken up. How many days should I wait till it’s safe to go back in? How can I be sure that it’s left.
cool boy 2 I wouldn't say that. They aren't agressing unless your swinging brooms at them. But they do carry diseases and should be approached and dealt with cautiously.
cool boy 2 which is why you still need to approach all with caution. Because you don't know which ones may be feral or carrying a disease. That doesn't mean go hurt it but any professional will also tell you not to assume it's "harmless" and to just go pet it as if it was. They aren't agressive unless provoked or confused. But that doesn't mean "all bats are harmless"
So, how do I figure out where the bat entered my house? Every window & door was closed was closed. I would like to know so that I can seal off where he entered.
A bat keeps flying around in my room in circles, leaves, then does it all over again, repeatedly. This also happened last week.(I have a love for animals so a part of me wishes for it to stay. I also have seen several insects in my home, and a small spider in my room, so I guess I also would like for the bat to eat said insects and arachnid.)
bat's sudden appearance in a building, therefore, portends grave misfortune ranging from death to illness or just plain bad luck. The most frequently repeated myth is that a bat's presence in a house foretells someone's death.
Unsure if you were just joking or not, but if you are serious, then please don’t try to keep a bat. They are wild. Not all bats drink blood either. Only 3 species do. There are about 1300 species and only 3 drink blood. The rest eat insects and fruit
I had one in my bedroom last night. A bit scary but sort of funny too. My cat was going nuts and oh did I mention it was 2 in the morning? Anyway, I quickly got out of bed, went out to my front living room and opened the door and let the thing fly out.
Why do they keep coming back though! I put screens on the windows because I like having the breeze at night but this is getting ridiculous and it’s very scary especially when they come at your head!
LOL I get bats in my house yearly. Just had one the past three evenings. I haven't figured out how they're getting into the house, but they're coming out from the track area of my pocket doors between 1st and 2nd floor. (Victorian house) I haven't the foggiest idea. Im just so used to them now as well as my dogs, that I let the bat figure it out. He just confused by the breeze from inside to the one outside. They eventually figure it out after a few flybys. ❤my 🦇 buddies!
Just had to deal with one. Turned a light on in the hallway and we both spooked each other as he fluttered around confused. Ended up flying down the stairs to another room with no lights on. I grabbed a net and thankfully he didn't freak out when I hit the lights on, just stayed still and let me catch him to let him outside.
I needed this last night. But when in panic, I can’t type properly to find information. Two flew in my bedroom window. I’m just not so great at being trapped in a closed space with something flying around me. So I got out and shut the door. After some crying and screaming at 1 am and resolves to now permanently sleep in the spare room and give the bats my bedroom rent free. In the end I went out for a midnight walk and when I got back after 3am they had found their way out. I think I’m gonna bookmark this video though lol

Wow..you're a savage. It is also 3am and I got up to go to the bathroom and it flew by my head. My boyfriend is trying to get it to go out now..2nd night in a row.

Worked for me. What a reassuring tone of voice too!
Thank you for this video!!!!! There was a mild freakout but I think the drama is over thanks to your video.
Thank you for this calming video. Next time this happens, hopefully never, we will be less close to having a heart attack ...
A bat flew in my house last night... Not fun lol
me too...
frankie reyes for me 2 did
I know that's right I ran up the attic stairs like my life depends on it
It flew in the day time too ... I freaking hate it but it's illegal to kill a bat
I hate having small spaces in my house

it's in MY living room rn, it traveled so far, probably bought corona w it lmao
@@blue_sugar_falls yep there’s a bat in my living room rn and I think my cats are trying to get it
They usually recommend a rabies shot if you wake up to a bat in your house even without a bite mark because they’re so small.
Why do they come😢 What does it mean
@@dreamonet2001they just flew in on accident, ig they catch with net to jsut simply let it out
I had two inside at the same time. I have only a small apartment. They were bumping into each other and the ceiling but they refused to go out the obviously open door. Don't understand it
What a relaxing voice! A+
Bats can fly very fast in a circular fashion, around 80 to 100 mph if inside your house or building.
They eventually caught it and set it free outside.
great story--thanks for sharing!
I was gaming and all of a sudden I see something giant flying, thought it was a fly and then I looked again and holy the heart attack i got
It was hanging on my curtain.
omg, your story bust me out laughing. i would totally be scared and the fire department response and the cops...so funny..thanks.
@S R I totally would I'm not handling that thing so thankful to the person who commented so if I see it tomorrow I'm calling the police I feel its hiding in house somewhere we haven't found it yet tho
wholesome video, thanks
also man, how many people in these comments are getting bats in their houses?! where do you all live??
Dude I'm freaking out right now !! With this coronavirus epidemic going on and I'd really like to get some sleep..
Same
Will there be new virus because of that bat in my house
Bats don’t give you coronavirus. You can not catch it from any animal except for humans. It’s not transmit-able from bats. They can of course, carry other diseases. Not all do, but some can, and you can only get sick from a bat if they bite or scratch you.
@@raven7146 thank you I was scared
Week ago Saw a bat vibing in my living room and it nearly gave me a heart attack. Called my folks who are 12 hrs away and was in verge of crying. Then mustered up courage and used my broom stick to make it move. Thankfully it went out. I am glad it was not flying around else i would on the ground unconscious. Now UA-cam is recommending this video which was posted 9years ago. Whoa now they can sense our fears too 🫠
Thank you for enlighting us.Yes we need to protect the bats as they play an important part in our eco system.♥️♥️♥️♥️
Well oops then cuz my dad killed the one that got in my room. He said he wanted “zero chances of it coming back”
I think the guy at the window was Wee Willie Winkie on a wee over from Scotland
I chased a bat out with a broom and he looked at me like ‘hey, what’s your problem’? Why you so hostile?
I would but dont want to be attacked
My dad did the same the stepped on it and killed it. All while I had a anxiety attack in the living room. I’m now hearing the scraping again and starting to freak ..
a decade later, you're still saving lives.
That thing was just chilling on my back how tf !
Bats were in my attic flying into my living room of my apartment I move the hell out
Got two flying after each other under a lower roof outside my house right now, they can't get in because I shut everything.
Did you have to get a rabies shot?
I've had 9 instances of bats getting in my house in the past 3 days. It's really easy to catch them and I think they're cool so it's not so bad but I really need to figure out what's going on.
There could be bats living in your attic, if you have one
Thanks bro!
This weird bat wasnt leaving although the window was open. It sat on the edge of the window door but wasn't leaving. And i kept sliding the window door slowly until it was outside and me inside
That's great! You saved the bat, and yourself!
mouse is bad for your health and for environment, like. cockroaches or mosquito

That's so cool!!!!!! I want a bat to go into my house........ .
Also.. I heard that it's even GREAT luck to have a bat in the house.
I had 2 fly into my house and chase each other, so double luck I guess, yay

There was just now a bat in my house and it was 12:00 AM but my mom and dad dealed with it and its outside
I was away for the weekend and came home to a bat in my apartment. It was daytime and I saw the droppings around so I knew it was sleeping somewhere. Lo and behold, there it was behind a curtain by my opened (but screened) window. I popped out the screen and out it went. Absolutely terrifying.
Lol a bat entered my friends room and it didnt went well
The bat was exhausted because it was flying around trying to find an exit but couldnt since everyone was there.. it was literally scared the hell out ..i felt bad for the bat
I just had two in my bedroom yesterday ! I opened the curtains and the windows wider and hid under my blanket hahahah after sometimes they were out. I love bats but it was scary !

Your calming voice and the music does not help, I have been completely terrified this whole video
crap i screamed like a girl and so as my bro lol 😂😂😂😂😂
Cool. What if your house is open concept?
BATS ARE CUTE
Which is more that can be said for the diseases they carry….
Fuck I'd be running lol
This happened and I tried to hit it with a broom - no such luck, couldn't even get close. However, when it landed on the curtains I smacked it with a dish towel and then hurled it out the window. I hope I didn't hurt it, I couldn't find it outside so hopefully it was not injured. The sound its wings made was very unique, very leathery, if that is a word.
The bat got into my ac
And also he made a home there
I was swinging a sheet in bedroom to trap it.
Sleeping in the spare bedroom tonight!! lol
Bats are sweet and we need bats to control bug population! I love bats! 🖤🦇🖤
Yeah you still think that bats are sweet?? #COVID
Go bats 😊 and they would never intentionally hurt you so don't hurt them
I love this video. Although short it's very informative
Bats are harmless
cool boy 2 I wouldn't say that. They aren't agressing unless your swinging brooms at them. But they do carry diseases and should be approached and dealt with cautiously.
BadSportsLobby Tv some of them
cool boy 2 which is why you still need to approach all with caution.
The fact that he is just like sitting there not even trying to get a bat out of the house
He probably had the doors and windows open. Not to mention it was only 2 minutes
How did he get in?
@@wolfamadeus6932 Apparently it came in through the chimney, but it couldn't get back out so we opened the front door and it eventually flew out.
@@jackanarthemonsterhunter5123 Sounds scary.
@@wolfamadeus6932 Nah, it was pretty chill for the mos part.
bat's sudden appearance in a building, therefore, portends grave misfortune ranging from death to illness or just plain bad luck. The most frequently repeated myth is that a bat's presence in a house foretells someone's death.
I’ve had a bat flown in my home and I’m considering keeping it as a pet. How much blood should I fed it?
Unsure if you were just joking or not, but if you are serious, then please don’t try to keep a bat. They are wild. Not all bats drink blood either. Only 3 species do. There are about 1300 species and only 3 drink blood. The rest eat insects and fruit
It was near my bathroom and I had to take a shower. When I went it was calm and just sitting there. After I came out it was no where to be seen😭
