@@nxmong My channel has actually helped a lot of people's fear of bats by gradually showing them the bats in a different light, and letting them look into the baby's eyes and see them for what and who they are - sentient animals with a soul, with mischief in their eyes and love in their hearts. I'm scared of snakes - I think they're gorgeous looking (some of them), with their amazing patterns; I love to look at pix of the magnificence of pythons, but I really don't feel any affection for them and I am scared of the venomous snakes. I don't want to know more about them or interact with them but I recognise their role in the ecosystem and recognise that if you don't confront or harm them, they won't harm you. Same with bats - not everyone is going to love the batties; not everyone is going to look into their eyes and fall in love; not everyone is going to want to interact with the bats, and not everyone is going to want to have them in their lives in any way. That's not required; it would just be nice if people would acknowledge their individual sentience and battiness, and left them alone. Hate isn't required (I'm scared of snakes but I don't hate them) - just acknowledging them. If you keep watching the channel you may get a new appreciation for them and maybe less fear. Thank you for your comment.
They all can do it if they land in the water. The big bats bellydip on the creek or ponds near their colony, and if they miscalculate and end up in the drink, they just swim out. They don't like being out of their environment, either in the water or on the ground, so they scamper out quickly.
Because this is the name for this kind of bat; he's flying-fox (hyphenated) which is a kind of fruit bat. All flying-foxes are bats, but not all bats are flying-foxes. These bats have foxy little faces and fly so they were "imaginatively" named flying-foxes.
Squirrels are not bats; bats/flying-foxes are not in the USA or UK or Americas mainland. They're in Australia, the Australia Pacific and SE Asia and Africa and Egypt and Turkey and the western mediterranean coastal area. @@therealgigi_
I've always loved bats. My family have a moderately sized farm with a small bat colony that took up roost in one of the old barns and it's so cozy to sit out and watch them fly around on a moonlit night. I used to be a little afraid of them as a kid, but unless they have rabies they are incredibly unlikely to even approach you.
He is a handsome boy. And those eyes, he was really awake and watching everything. So intelligent. Glad he is doing well and his knuckles heal. Good job!
It's not too different from flying; they swim easily and comfortably, however it is not their environment and they're always stressed in the water. In the north, the water has a lot of predators. They don't know that swimming pools aren't dangerous for them though. All they know at this stage is that they're grounded and they can't get height to fly out, which has to be stressful for them

... it this the video where we get to see Meg doing the crankies because she fell into the pool? no? aw well, drat. that might have been fun to watch. ah well, so long as the bat's okay and improving, i guess it'll serve. x1
They are incredibly adorable and gentle creatures!!! Kind of like a hidden gem. I hope for more education for society so that they may get the proper love and care that they deserve.
They don't like to be in the water but they get their drinking water by skimming the surfaces of ponds, creeks and rivers and then licking the water off their fur. They don't particularly like being in the water because it's not their environment, though they're very graceful in the water. In the wild, being in the water means they can't take off unless they get to the bank and then climb a tree. It also means they're subject to predation - crocodiles up north, eels grabbing their feet around our area. Predatory birds (raptors like sea eagles and hawks) who can scoop them off the surface of the water.
I had absolutely no idea Bats could swim!😳🦇💦 Glad you didn't fall in. Montpelier is so handsome!!🦇🤗💕 So happy he went on to be released, YAY!!!👍 Thanks to the painter w/plank & nice to hear Maggie's "Sweet Pea!"😍

What a handsome boy he is, the silver in his facial hair and nose are just gorgeous ! yay.
Its so cool to watch bats swim.
Monte should get the “Most helpful bat of the month award for not allowing Meg to get wet” 🏆 Hope you continue to be well. You are gorgeous 🥰🥰
Jim Zant already won that award.
You gals are my heroes. Thanks for all your hard work!
1:58 he's definitely thinking about biting you - arching up to plant a batty lovebite on your hand.
He wasn't a happy chappie, but he did well and was released after about 5 weeks or so
He's such a cutie pie!! Thanks meg. ♥️ :)
My deepest admiration for your patience with all those who state that this is not a (flying) fox but a bat, and giving an informative explanation!
👏🇦🇺💐🦇👏🇸🇪
(Sometimes one wish that people would know the boudaries of their knowledge and check things first...)
... it this the video where we get to see Meg doing the crankies because she fell into the pool?
no? aw well, drat. that might have been fun to watch.
ah well, so long as the bat's okay and improving, i guess it'll serve. x1
Awww it’s so cute looking, it’s like a pupper with wings
Handsome guy. Thanks Meg and your helpers too🌸
What a quiet, handsome little man!
They are incredibly adorable and gentle creatures!!! Kind of like a hidden gem. I hope for more education for society so that they may get the proper love and care that they deserve.
Very nice looking bat.
aww I know they probably hate falling in water but its so cool to see them swim
Thhgh
Folha da. Piejd
If I'd fallen in I'd have friztzed my phone and vid glasses. Probably should've given my phone to Maggie just in case

Meg, is it possible to tell us what camera you use, because I do like the image quality. Thank you, and lots of love from Brazil 🇧🇷 😍
I use video glasses.
Google video recording sunglasses. I take out the "glass" and just put the frame on over my own glasses.

Thank you Meg...I needed that.
When I was around 6 yrs old, my Grandfather found a bat had fallen into my Grandmothers rainwater barrel. It was so cute how he put it in a pail with a wire handle, used clothes pins to hang it up on Grandma's clothed line, and left the little fart to dry off in the sun. Sure enough a while later it left - FLAP ! FLAP ! FLAP ! - out of the barrel. I LOVE YOU GRANDPA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's great when bats are rescued and helped and they can fly away
