Rumble mains scare me. Because everytime I get one on my team or one is on the enemy team who mains him they usually carry. Rumble does so much damage it's unreal. Maybe that's just my experience.
Rumble is like Kalista in the sense that these one tricks, mains, pros, or just anybody generally, these Rumble players know what they’re doing, know the limits and extents of their champ, but the opponents underestimate the damage and just don’t know what he can do.
Magic resistance, makes Rumble mains 😭 cry…. Though to be fair his laning phase is toxic however: here’s some advice for early game: 1. If you main juggernauts you are at a disadvantage early, only fight him out level one when his Q is down it’s 10 sec. Cooldown abuse it. 2. DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT Fight him at 70%- 80% heat we will pop Q, overheat, auto you to death, dead 💀, especially early, try to fight him either, after he overheats or when preferably under 50% heat 3. Magic Resistance murders rumble, he is pure magic damage, try to get some mercs if his damage is a problem, or your core magic resistance item. 4 (bonus) For my mid main players who suffered at the hands of Rumble and sometimes support Rumble, here’s a huge step, at 60% heat us Rumble mains love to bait you when we are low on health, if you think you can finish us, nope we will W for shield and movement speed then Q to overheat to bait you, DON’T FALL FOR IT, keeps your distance poke him, force him too back, and please get help from your jungler as due to rumble’s kit he pushes the wave. 5 (There’s still more?) The last thing runes/certain items: if it is not obvious double magic resist runes, and if you are able to please please please second wind/ doron’s shield is a must if you are able. For early magic resistance AD: hex drinker but don’t complete it to Maw early please it is not necessary like steraks gage, for AP mercs or negatron cloak is fine to sit on. Hope this helps, coming from a rumble main 😎
My last placement game this season, I played ADC and my support went smite Rumble, and only played in the enemy jungle. I had to lane 1v2, got no assistance from my support, but ended up just eating all the pressure and the rest of my team won the game. Weird AF tbh, but I guess it worked.
Because Riot wants him to be a top laner, but fail to realize poke champions aren't viable top lane anymore with how easily acessible sustain has become. Then whenever he sees play outside top, he gets nerfed. Its a very similar story to Pantheon now that I think about it.
Also, rumble do not have burst(unless with item), mobility, mediocre range(with E), Tankiness and reliable way to follow up gank until 6(especially for the tower dive)
@@theinvisiblehand9281 Rumble with Electrecute hurts. The squishy matchups he finds mid or the people he gank as a jungler. But top lane? You only get to fight lifesteal bruisers with another lifesteal bruiser. We have the opposite of burst meta btw. Survivability for otherwise squishy champions is so widespread everyone's becoming a mini-bruiser. Crown and Shieldbow are the biggest offenders, but they're not even all of them. Wit's End, Death's Dance, Divine Sunderer, Hexdrinker just got buffed and pretty much half the AP itens in the game give HP now.
I feel the same he get bully by bruiser in the top lane and after the mr nerf he gets bully by mages in the mid lane, like where should i go maybe i should go kill myself
A built in cooling mechanic would definitely make the biggest difference. Just like Blitz gets slowed after "overcharging", maybe Rumble could have a similar mechanic: every time you stand still in place (you can press S, or even when CC'ed), you cooldown at a rate of 40 per second or something, on top of the passive cooling. So instead of overheating for 5 seconds moving around, you can stand still for ~2 seconds to cool down. This would create a lot of skill expression as good players would have to time exactly how long they want to do this to not let the enemy get too far away or let yourself become too vulnerable. Actively allowing you to root yourself for a benefit. Good players could even overheat on purpose close to a stunned target (let's say someone stunned by Ashe from far away), stand still while overheating and Q is active to start another rotation of spells immediately. Enemy players would be discouraged to CC you while overheated and risk getting hit by a second rotation of spells, and maybe Rumble could get a boost of MS every time he stands still for more than X time
@@hotlinekrapfen I'd argue that it gives the option at least. In some teamfights you can stand still, depending on the positioning of everyone else. Even if it is risky, it adds decision making for a potential benefit. You could even go further and do it in a way where whenever Rumble is standing still, he cools off, including if stunned by the enemy. That would add another layer of protection during teamfights and interactivity between players where enemies would be discouraged to CC you while you are overheating and risk having you survive and hit them again with a full rotation of spells
As someone who mained Rumble a ton back when he was good, I also can't overstate how devastating Gnar was to his popularity. When Gnar was released and for years after, he was someone who gave a team everything Rumble gave them, did it better, did it easier, and when the two fought, Gnar won every time. For years, if you were playing Rumble, you were just playing 'the inferior Gnar'.
The logical + thematic best fix is make his Q a toggle/held down ability that consumes heat. Rework so that heat has linear scaling for his passive damage + W/E rather than incremental, hell even throw in an AA reset on W for the shits. He will be a million times easier to balance and it removes the "All or nothing"/"Hot or Cold" problem, as he gains linear benefits at different heat levels. I'm also in favour of removing the silence at 100% heat, as in this state he'd technically have to have Q perma silenced to maintain 100% buffs. EZ.
AS a toplaner i say HELL no, then a bruiser top doesn't have counterplay vs him. the main issue he has he is to ult reliant and in the lategame it is almost the only thing he does, i do like the guy especially playing against him cause you have windows to use and abuse on both sides making it more fun and more like the matchups of old tht wasn't just waiting for the right powerspike to all-in
as a rumble main I feel like just reverse the mr nerf and w movement speed nerf then I am ok with it. Cause like whole heat control thing is the core mechanics of rumble that made him special
@@artje90 toplaners either blind pick and get countered or do the counterpicking. why should bruisers get special treatment when balancing? If Rumble isnt getting buffed because toplaners would have a hard time then nerf Darius, Vayne, Nasus, Camille, and every other champ that dominates toplane
Rumble in support is possibly the closest you can get to making your enemy botlane uninstall league. Just infinite poke with E & Comet. His all-in with flamethrower is even more terrifying. I've never laughed so hard at someone's pain until I started spamming him in support
@@GameGuy667 Comet, nimbus cloak, trans, scorch. Secondary eyeball collect and ultimate hunter. Ability haste, power, armor flex. Just poke with E, no mana, comet always hits cuz E slows. All in anytime after lvl 3. Flamethrower just melts them. I use ignite but sometimes taking flash / exhaust is good to keep them from running out of ur flames of death
They should change Rumble's ulti so that he uses all his heat gauge to fire it, with damage scaling based on how much heat was used. Either keep it inaccessible when overheated (if you want the champion to stay sort of difficult) or allow it to be fired when overheated (if you want things easier).
So... new rumble players would fire an ult and misses by 100 yards, and he'd be overheated, running around in team fights while being completely useless until the entire team dies. Nah.
@@kewtheii6764 I think he means the complete opposite, as in when Rumble overheats he can use his ulti to reset his heat meter and continue using his abilities.
On and Off Rumble player here. Here's what I would change: Make his Ult cool down his heat meter. We could also have it scale off of the meter, so that it's stronger the more heat he has. There's potential for cool counterplay on both sides here. Maybe the in lore reason is that the rockets absorb the heat? (kind of like mass effect style thermal clips)
@@jllemin4 That's horrible, imagine not being able to see Darius's bleed stacks or not being able to see the card TF picks. League has always been about clarity for both the opponent and player. Disabling a certain part of a HUD is horrible game design
Maybe put a max heat increase on his passive, such as to increase his maximum heat to 150 at level 18 while still maintaining the 50 heat threshold. It could allow him to keep those empowered abilities for longer while still letting it cool off later.
Man I swear people complain about everything, Rumble's kit is gorgeous and perfect. Just because they don't know how to play the game doesn't mean the champion is bad
Easy fix: Make his E store and discharge heat when hitting a champion. The more heat he has built up the more damage and/or range e will have. So one harpoon will immediately discharge like 25% heat. I'm sure you can balance it out somehow. I think it fits his design too
Interestingly enough, Went (WentRumble,) the Challenger midlaner, mains both Rumble and Asol. The dude is apparently naturally gifted in toeing that middle line to optimize their champion. And then of course there is that hugely successful Asol player in EUW, and Syndroomboy the high Chally streamer on Rumble.
As somebody that used to play old school Rumble and only recently came back to LoL this was very informative about what changed. I feel like if his overheat downtime was scaleable (through attack speed or ability haste or something) it might be possible to fix his scaling problem, but honestly the overheat control is really what he needs.
Potentially you could scale his dangerzone with his level. This would allow him to use more empowered spells later in the game, without always overheating
I'd argue that he doesn't necessarily need to be more intuitive or approachable. Considering how many champs are in the game, I think it's alright for Rumble to operate the very specific way he does. That being said, he could definitely benefit with on-demand cooling, the simplest of which being this: While overheated, basic attacks remove some amount of heat, maybe 15 or 20.
i honestly feel like rumble should have a special item like victor that could function as means to how u could affect rumbles heat generation or cooling off
An interesting idea would be to buff his passive to include something similar to mundo’s, ejecting a canister when he overhears before going on a long cooldown, effectively letting him get away with overheating once per fight. It would also mean he could use his empowered abilities in the middle of his combo instead of at the end.
Good video, well done :) I do have one thing to say though: Reading the stats from the abilities was really difficult or even impossible, it was too small. SHowing each ability alone instead of all 3 on the screen would be a better solution imo :)
I'd love to see his overheated auto attacks reduce his overheat timer by say .5s for each one, so you could maybe cycle through your abilities twice in a fight.
I have been a rumble otp for 3 seasons now, and have played hundreds of rumble games midlane. A lot of what you said is true, but i think one of your most overlooked points on rumble is how hard his ultimate is to hit properly. Using r farther away and bringing it closer to you while cutting off escapes with walls is seriously difficult to do. Even a lot of pro players have terrible ults that could have swung fights if used better. I am not saying i am better then pros, i am just illustrating how high of a ceiling some of his kit has. I love rumble and do not want him buffed. I think he is secret op with shrimp cpts first strike shadowflame build. As rumble you need to end the game as early as possible. If you make the enemy mid kass 0-15, it will not matter he will out scale you by lvl 11, definitely by 16. I find his tempo needed to win is very different from any other mid champ. Good video!
@Professor Thinker you sound fun at parties. And by fun i mean like you have never been to one. Dont be a pretentious ass hat. If its so easy why do pros like Huni who have been playing him in lcs for season and seasons still fuck it up royally
I always just thought they should retune his shield. Have it vent heat, instead of building up heat. It wouldn't work if he was overheated. I dunno what numbers would be need to be tweaked but it feels like something that could be tweaked. Flamethrower generates a bit more heat or whatever. There's always a way to make it work.
There is literaly 5IQ fix for his heat mechanic, just give him new passive, to give players agency in managing heat, for his W or E. W: if his shield is consumed it cool down his heat, E: if he hit his harpoon he cool down his heat. Call it 1957 Philco freon emmiter or whatever.
Idea 2: when he over heats he gets an empowered ability to cast but it still generates heat so makes you a but more dangerous while overheated but it takes a but longer to cooldown. it adds skill expression based on the chosen ability for moredamage or shield or neither for more spamming kinda like some heat guns in fps games cd is lower if you don't max out heat and more time.you give to cd the more you lower your heat
I didnt see this idea anywhere, but if you want to add scaling to his heat, what i would do, is make his MAX heat go up. He still enters danger zone at 50 heat, but (depending on level, ability haste or any other stat you want to base it on), his max/overheat level could grow from 100 at start of the game to some larger number. What if he could use empowered abilities from 50 to 200 heat (8 uses before overheating). Just mind you - im not advocating for particular numbers here, just showing a way to improve that.
1.5 million mastery Rumble main here. The reason no one really plays him is because he takes ALOT of games to get good at and even then his WR doesn’t go up very high upon doing so, so a lot of people get discouraged in the process. The only people who consistently keep him in their pool is out of pure love for the champ.
@@cibinomin6540 Um potentially, I’ve only seen a few this season, maybe like 5, but my highest my rank has ever been was Diamond 4 and I’m usually always around high Platinum.
My suggestion is an addition to his passive that changes his heat generation based off of leveling scaling so his tempo became faster just like every other champion.
Playing Rumble is like playing a resource management minigame. His passive is a massive hoop to jump through when you could just pick diana and do just as well
I don’t know why but I’m in love with this champ. A Yordle in a mech suit with a flamethrower what’s not to love? Also I like to plan my engages a lot more with rumble and as you said in the video choose when and where to use an ability. I’m not very mechanically gifted to play intense champs like Yasuo or Azir. But I’m pretty good at decision making and knowing when to all in and stay back. Also it’s great that he’s not too popular as it means I get to play him more, haha.
Im kinda happy this vid is coming out now of all times, cause i literally just started playing rumble jg due to him being free in the weekly rotation. He feels pretty balanced and tbh i carry most games, idk why more people dont play him.
Well for one it feels worse then past seasons from huge q nerf in season 7 and no more liandrys makes his r feel like it has 0 dmg compared to before now dont get me wrong he does dmg and I do drop over 10 kills a game most the time but I only get r kills after I hit both e's instead of being able to just r some one with 1 item and killing them 😂 I also feel like he can be boring but that doesn't rly apply unless he is one of your mains
I've always thought that Rumble is the kind of champ that fell into the abyss of "why pick him" because of the release of new champs and the lack of purpose it has as now a champ, on paper is supposed to be like an AP Top Bruiser, but the problem is Gwen and Morde already exist and they have way more complete or abusable kits, and when Riot wants to make it pickable again it only buffs the damage up, it doesn't play with him more and doesn't add any new mechanics, it just became "the champ who silences itself lol". I've always had some cool ideas for him, like doing something similar to Jhin's passive but instead of AS% takes Ability Haste from their Q/W/E and converts it into resistances, or making his ult scale with %HP damage, or changing it to another cool ultimate to differentiate it from Corki's packages, but sadly I don't work at Riot, and knowing how the game is going I don't think they're changing anything than making all of the weak champs do more damage and nothing else, it's ironic how Rumble went from "pro-play pick" on S2 to "idk he was a jungler maybe?" on the current seasons. Plus, Riot is always biased against toplane, Akshan can have the more overloaded kit ever and revive allies with his passive, Renata can make allies zombies and save them from death making them "invulnerable", but Aatrox can't have his revive. God, I miss old Aatrox.
I had a thought. There's a game called Mechwarrior which has a similar Heating mechanic, only you shut down and are basically 'stunned' when overheating. The games often feature a coolant shot mechanic, where you get a limited amount of a coolant resource per mission which you use up by pressing a special hotkey to reduce a set amount of heat. I think Rumble could benefit from something like that, having an extra ability, item, or resource bar he can you to reduce a set amount of heat over a short period of time that either refills on base or requires something that spawns in base every few minutes like how Corki's special package works. Not sure if it'd be particularly balanced or even possible with client spagetti, but it'd be a starting point.
Here a fun idea: When Rumble overheats, he doesn't get automaticly silenced, instead his abilities become a even stronger burst like abilities. If rumble uses them he will be silenced until he is completly cool down, but if he waits, it will simply return to danger zone
I swear last year they were on the right track, just for some reason they went with buffing his jg, the attack speed nerf was a lot. His overheat attack speed should be scaling. Toplaners can be reallllyyyyy harsh on him
change his shield and mov speed to passive: generate shield while in combat, reducing dmg taken change his W to an electro charge that cools him off and while hes overheated add a sunfire cape ap based passive
ive seen the idea of q spending heat and being a toggle instead of a fixed duration w/ cooldown, i feel like this would do 2 things; make managing heat more proactive and allow him to effectively play chicken with his abilities and heat gauge. (similar to ember in warframe) if you gave q heat consumption that grew exponentially with heat and make the bonuses from heat all scale linearly instead of being binary on/off it could create this frantic all in where you desperately try and generate and spend as much heat as possible while not overheating, this style may also require changing the numbers on the heat values or having heat generation have diminishing returns. overheating could also be made more dynamic by having a "buffer" period where as soon as you go over 100% heat a short timer say 0.5s should start, the amount of heat above 100% you have when it finishes determines how long you are over heated for with the attack speed bonus fading away as he cools off, the scaling on this would have to be rather punishing to make it so players actually try to avoid it.
I've always wanted to play Rumble properly but I am *trash* at CSing with him and I can't seem to improve at it. As for how I'd rework him, I'd think about getting unique items to really deliver on the "build a mech loadout" fantasy that he's begging for in his thematics. Maybe tie some of his abilities to the buildpath to increase the number of ways you can play him.
You either use harpoons or sacrifice the souls of the katarina and talon mains that you have killed and pray to the flamethrower tick dogs so that they give that sweet cannon minion
They made the changes to his passive because they needed to create windows of opportunity. Previously, he could build CDR then poke infinitely with e without overheating and still manage his wave with q as needed, saving exactly enough heat for a 5-spell enhanced rotation if played just right. Now, as you noted, rumble can only get one of each enhanced spell and his ult. And his long-range poke isn't frequent enough to break through sustain, meaning he has to commit to his q for trading, which creates windows of opportunity for his opponent through wave management. He can still destroy immobile juggernauts like Nasus and Darius in lane, but champs with mobility or easy sustain just shrug him off (as Nasus and Darius do late game)
Idea 1: How about make his heat pool grow with each level like 90 base + 10 per level so 100-280 that would give him much more room as he scales then make his ability not scale quite as good so they are not op when spammed late game. You have a larger pool to work with as the game goes on but lower damage late your abilities heat Gen don't change should make him more reliable
One thing you *could* do would be to add a ~1-2 second delay to rumble's overheat effect, and in that time you can use your abilities freely (Not empowered, of course. That would be insane.). That way you still have the opportunity to fire off everything you've got left in the tank before you go critical. Maybe that'd be too much, though.
I play Rumble top often, he can be very oppressive since his flame thrower can go over minions, his harpoon is great at poking and he is so rare no one knows how to play against him really. However, if any melee champion just charges in instead of playing safe they usually win the trade.
New Passive: Hextech Coolant System Items that give Mana now increase Rumble's max Heat threshold at a (idk) ratio. his Empowered threshold stays the same. now he can utilize tank items that give Mana (frozen heart, etc) to increase ths uptime of his abilities while also increasing his durability (like other tanky mages) offering an alternative to his all-in playstyle (which remains an option as you can just not builr mana)
If I were to rework Rumble's Kit, I'd make him more similar to Renekton. His Overheat mechanic would still be the same but his basic and ultimate abilities would change. His Q would be the same but adds heat when below 50% and lowers heat when above 50% to better manage his heat. His W would be the same His E would be reworked to function like Varus Q or Xerath Q, where you hold it and aim for longer range. When above 50% heat, this ability resets its CD. His ult would be the same but when rumble stands on it he gains heat and ability power. So his playstyle would be like a battle mage with pseudo-artillery mage qualities due to his E and Ult combo in the case that he misses his ult on his targets. I thought this would be a fun playstyle, but I understand that it would not be any more popular than his current one, since most artillery and poke champs are unpopular by themselves, but I love rumble and would love to see him played more and be more rewarding to play as.
maybe expand his Overheat zone then? If its hard to stay in the danger zone and easy to get too hot or too cold, then perhaps make it easier to stay in the danger zone, maybe casting the ult expands the danger zone to 30-100%. You could also do something where as his level increases beyond lv 6, the minimum value to enter danger zone starts decreasing per lv, which increases his tempo bc u don't have to cast as many ability to enter danger zone and u can cast more abilities b4 u over heat.
Thinking it could be interesting if they let his flamethrower have a recast if he's at high heat where he releases a quick burst of steam that blinds enemies in front of him and instantly reduces some amount of heat.
I played with a rumble who absolutely refused to go top so he shared mid with someone until they disconnected and eventually bot disconnected so it was me (Fiddlesticks) and him and it was literally 2v5 and we won it was insane I have no idea how he did it
As a rumble main. I think you nailed every point head on. The buffs in patch 9 were good at the beginning, however, they butchered him in season 7 so badly that the only way to bring him back top (possibly) is to revert his changes to heat manipulation.
BRINSTAR DEPTHS! Made my day. Also I think this could be a good approach. Less so "Why no one/everyone plays" and instead "Why no one/everyone atm plays". I think putting emphasis on the "at the moment" part means you can update better when future changes to champions or metals happen, without the need to feel like older videos have become outdated. This also makes it so if an unpopular champion becomes popular for a while, or a popular champion falls off, you can you multiple updates on that champ as their usage rises and falls across seasons.
Built in cooling mechanic idea: INNATE - SAFETY MEASURES: Rumble's ability cooldowns cannot be reduced by ability haste at all. INNATE - SPEED COOLING: Rumble's Heat decays at a rate of X (+X per X ability haste) per second [when all of Rumble's basic abilities are on cooldown.] [after not basic attacking for 3 seconds.] [after empowering an ability with Danger Zone.] [insert other condition ideas here.]
Rumble is one of the few champs that I go out of my way to avoid playing. He feels very clunky and awkward to use. It's too bad though because he's hella strong and has a fascinating kit.
At either level 1 or with each ult upgrade, he should get reduced heat cost on his abilities when at 50% So he get more over heat, and can spam his abilities more but still having to manage that fine line for high risk high reward.
I think you missed one point. - Mobility he was so much more consistnat because there where less ways to escape. All his dmg is on aoe ir skillshots and all his cc are two slows. 5 years ago this was all he needed to have consistant impact. But now its hit or miss with his isane dmg on ult and q. Also he had bad scalings and good base dmg. So you would build Liandry - hourglass - abyssal scepter - voidstaff i believe. Like that ( + less dmg in game overall ingame) he felt so much more tanky that you could overheat with 1st e and kite with 2nd during cooldown to reenter combat after.
I think rumble could use a system like the Thaumaturge in FF14 where he could cycle between abilities that would heat him up and ones which either can only work after he’s heated or would help him control his heat
Rumble is a champion that lets you rapidly spam abilities but people don't like it when they are in the middle of spamming and they actually get punished by overheating when they don't want to. His Ult is incredibly powerful, he has no mana, and overheat is the only thing holding him back from being a complete menace.
potential idea might be to shift the way w is used. maybe make his w so that it generates heat, but can still be used while hes overheated. so, with enough cdr he has a reliable way to bail instead of committing 100% whenever he overheats. or make it so w REMOVES heat when used. this would allow him to have better agency over when he overheats, but still isn't fool proof it would require tweaking of his heat-related numbers, but if done right it might make bruiser rumble more viable. he wouldnt have to build full ap to kill people since he wouldn't be boxed into maxing his passive and going all in. just an idea
adding to this, it might be better to improve rumbles w movement speed while hes overheated. it gives him the ability to disengage if he cant fight, or stick to people so he can whack em with his empowered auto attacks. he also wouldnt be dependent on using his E to slow people to stay in range of them (since he cant use E1 while overheated)
Personally, i'd would like to see his W and R and give him a bit more options to work with. Passive - Increased to 150 max. 0-49 does nothing, 50-99 empowers skills, 100-149 triggers self DoT, 150 X self true damage and 2~1s silence. Q - Disable AA and lock the skill direction (same as Panth) W (old R) - Single missile but storing charges (2 to 5), no slow. +25~50% duration on post-impact zone when empowered. R - Reduce overheat, shield becomes less effective with heat and cd reduction goes twice faster while overheat is under 50 (same as ww W).
I've played rumbled for years and still main him today with about 2 mill mastery. I can agree with just about 100% of what was stated and it is no doubt its harder to play him today compared to how it used to be especially with items getting removed, rune changes and massive nerfs to W and Q CD early game. Plus alot of fun and creative unorthodox builds are pretty much either gone entirely or barely viable anymore forcing to build the same generic builds and forcing more Magic pen over AP ratio because you can no longer get AP ratios like how you used to many years ago with mage items. I think he would need some built in versatility in his kit like upgrades. After all, he is a mechanic and a low key genius so why not have something where he collects "scrap" or junk off the ground or defeated champs and upgrade attributes to his mech similar to how Viktor used to upgrade his staff before the rework and how bard collects his pieces to make heals and what not. So not only would you get the thrill of being a brawler but also building into something fitted in a match that can help fine tune matchups since every patch nowadays seems to do little or too much change that could either ruin or build rumbles status. Overall, rumble is still good but I think he could use a very needed upgrade to his outdated kit that still holds up to today's standards while still feeling like the rumble we know. And please riot, stop nerfing his W movement and shields, it's literally the only thing that letting him engage and disengage compared to champs that can dash all the time constantly or outrun him with base stats not even boosted ones compared to his 🥲
Junkyard Titan? I would change it so that the spot for empowered abilities gets lower as rumble levels. It'd be 50 at level 1, lowered to 20 by level 18.
I love playing rumble so much! Love his space Galaxy skin, but I'd love in the future for another legendary, with a cool design change for his mech. I picked him up early on when I started playing league last year, and absolutely love how his kit feels, and liandrys on him is just a bitch. I also exclusively play him top pretty much Edit : He ARGUABLY needs nerfing in URF, being able to spam abilities during overheat is pretty OP XD / also as technically mentioned, he is a battle mage, so I see him not having a heat dissipater in his kit as normal, if he was closer to a natural bruiser, it'd make sense for the heat drop. But his "battle mage" status calls for more strategic movement and ability use I.E. managing your heat, rather than trade out something in his current kit for something as useless as "heat dissipater"
What if his ult quickly removed all his heat and did extra damage based on the heat used (lower the base numbers of course) This would mean that if you’re maintaining danger zone heat before a fight, you can get a really mean initiate but have lower up front damage from everything else for the start of the fight, or you could go in and make the most of your abilities then finish with a really scary ult after getting to overheat levels
If he's stuck between too cold and too hot, he should just learn to master the art of the Goldilocks Zone. If a giant circle can do it, then so can a Yordle damn it.
I think rumble could easily be fixed if he had higher timers on his abilities but heat would decrease scaling with ability haste. That way he'd be weaker early game since his abilities would take long to refresh and would be hard to overheat and get the bonus attack damage and empowered abilities, but late game you'd be able to spam your abilities much more with ability haste without having to worry as much of overheat because it's values would decrease, for example for each 1% of cooldown reduction you'd heat 0.75% less on all abilities or something
rumble should get a mini update. make hes Q and W into the same, just hes Q with an added shield (no MS buff) and give him a new W that makes hes heat lower. like an ability that acts like a mundo W but with steam and an added slow to compensate for not having a speedbuff and he would be fine, that way you can manage your heat without being afk
Can’t wait to see this Rumble vid when it comes out cuz I’ve seen less Rumbles than Kalistas. He’s fairly strong and I don’t understand why more people don’t play him. He seems to be treated like old Corki, he just didn’t have items and he was not as cost efficient. What made Corki better was mainly First Strike and Ravenous Hydra became more cost efficient. Rumble needs more items that fit his kit even though his kit is outdated, but many champs’ kits are outdated and still more than viable (from s11 and onward). Time after time with reworks, buffs, he still feels like he hasn’t gained anything.
Seriously. Kalista, Aurelion Sol and Azir get picked for the novelty factor alone but I almost never see Rumble unless he becomes viable in jg. The only champion I see played less than him is Taric
@@MattiXQ7 For me it goes like that Kalista gets picked somewhat on par with Kog’maw. Skewed because my girlfriend can play her. I see Azir and Aurelion Sol played every 50-100 games for the novelty of it (in normals) Skarner and Taliyah less than that Then I saw Rumble maybe four times in total And I only fought against Taric twice
Idea: Give him an ulti in which he can spam abilities even if he is overheated. Also make his abilities slow enemies and maybe some sort of increase in damage.
I think you could make a video for why no one plays ap bruisers in general, cause even tho no one plays rumble he still has a higher pick rate than Morde and Gwen in top lane while ap assassin like Ekko or Sylas usually just go mid. As well, most ap items have to be balanced around more traditional mages or ap assassins because if they made the items too good for sustaining ap bruisers, mages and ap assassins would end up being OP cause they would deal a ton of damage AND be tanky as hell.
verry simple way : ability haste reduces time before cooling down, and time during overheat that way builds that uses overheat just don't build ability haste and you "buff" that duration, and thoses that dislike it have a way to counter it
My first thought was...Just go pure AD/AP melee and rush them, since using your abilities is limited this much, just silence yourself and go all in with your passive. as one who never played it before, i'm just going with my plans like my Tank Yuumi top lane. Which never loses or falls off. But those are just blind games i'm in. So it's meaningless but fun.
As a former kind of Rumble main in seasons 3, 4 and 5, there are a lot of good points in the video and in the comments. Especially one about how he isn't suited very well for toplane anymore due to widespread access to sustain which guts him as he relies on poking people down to stand a chance in a 1v1. He is also unable to build any kind of sustain, as Omnivamp/Spellvamp are kinda terrible and his main sources of damage (Q/R) are AoE, so Omnivamp only applies at 33% efficiency. But there's another aspect which is pretty flagrant to me when I play him nowadays : Side laning has become a solo laner duty past the 15th-20th minute even in Platinum, and he is awfully suited to complete that task. He is melee which is inherently risky, he is simply unable to deal with many splitpushers such as Trynd or Fiora, and he's an easy target for roaming squads looking for blood since he has no escape to speak of and pretty weak disengage in today's game.
man, imagine if we will be able to control or lock the position of the flamethrower (for example, holding Q locks the direction so we can move freely without moving the flamethrower). Might be too mobile if we can tho
One thing I haven't seen anyone talk about is how stat-checky his Q is. It has big damage, but forces you to run your opponent down to get the full damage, otherwise it's just meh. When you're even or behind, it's even worse since you cannot kite with it, and banking on it to do enough damage to win the trade is a gamble. Why can't they just let Rumble choose a direction and only spitfire in that direction no matter how he moves, kinda like Braum's W or Pantheon's E.
Theorycrafting: would it be possible for Rumble to be stronger if he had mana in addition to heat? You could then use mana growth to gate his ability to stay in the danger zone. One possibility: Flamethrower consumes mana while active to produce a lesser flamethrower that maintains heat after the main blast is done. Recast to turn off. What if Rumble's abilities and heat management changed under some circumstances besides the empowered danger zone bonus and rapid drain in overheat state? For example: 1. He could have an ability like Sion where pressing any ability key during the overheat state does something, such as doing a coolant dump to instantly end the overheat and allow chaining further abilities. 2. Flamethrower could become Steamthrower at >75% heat, consuming 20 heat instead of generating it. 3. Scrap Shield could become Heat Shield when used to overheat the mech, giving a thornmail effect in addition to the shield. 4. He could have a pre-silence state where he can either return to the danger zone by briefly waiting or trigger a full dump with an ability key. 5. He could have the ability to cancel the overheat drain to land back in the Danger Zone at some cost. 6. He could have the ability to stay past the danger zone but it literally burns him in that state and/or makes him vulnerable for longer if he does. 7. The heat could drain faster in the Danger Zone/could drain as % current heat per second, like actual thermodynamics.
I used to love playing Rumble jungle but most people consider him bad and say I'm throwing when I pick him now a days =( I find his kit very fun and he's a cool champion to play.
Ever play identity V? Its a game like dbd but theres a character with same concept: gain energy on ability use, empower abilities above 50, silence yourself if you overheat (except its all negative there) but they got a solution: an ability that increases your energy if below 50 or reduces it if above. They could put that on this guys passive or smth
Edit: at the time of writing this comment, I didn't know that rumble didn't have max health damage, however this build is still not popular nowdays. I feel like building tank solves the danger from overheating. Rumble needs to be close to maximize his damage, and because he has percent max health damage on his q and passive and 1400 base damage on his ulti (no, I didn't misspell the number, it's that high), plus he has a shield, building jack sho first item, makes him a terrifying ap bruiser. Combine that with conquerer and he will be unstoppable.
I feel it comes from lack of experience playing against him since his playerbase is so small
Magic resistance, makes Rumble mains 😭 cry…. Though to be fair his laning phase is toxic however: here’s some advice for early game:
1. If you main juggernauts you are at a disadvantage early, only fight him out level one when his Q is down it’s 10 sec. Cooldown abuse it.
2. DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT Fight him at 70%- 80% heat we will pop Q, overheat, auto you to death, dead 💀, especially early, try to fight him either, after he overheats or when preferably under 50% heat
@@katrinayse6073 yeah I feel like I see him once a few months and forget he exists. My fault on not learning how to counter him tbh
Pretty much every bruiser can go Blade of the ruined king
And the comment above is spamming rumble support like pantheon
Enemy players would be discouraged to CC you while overheated and risk getting hit by a second rotation of spells, and maybe Rumble could get a boost of MS every time he stands still for more than X time
I mean it would be good in lane, but he is already good in lane, the problem is in teamfight, when he absolutely cannot stay still for 1 or 2 sec
@@hotlinekrapfen he is only good in mid lane, in top lane he has horrible matchups

Hello? Comment police? Yes, I've found a 200+ word comment that doesn't contain incoherent rambling and socially unacceptable opinions.
EZ.
AS a toplaner i say HELL no, then a bruiser top doesn't have counterplay vs him. the main issue he has he is to ult reliant and in the lategame it is almost the only thing he does, i do like the guy especially playing against him cause you have windows to use and abuse on both sides making it more fun and more like the matchups of old tht wasn't just waiting for the right powerspike to all-in
NGL as much as I feel like he's mainly fine, this would be a nice quality-of-life change.

And the E magic shred was an wonderful change.
I think it fits his design too
No its bad because you need E to control heat. especially for the 10 heat it gives so that u can overheat with an full ability at 90 heat
Why no one plays Rumble? Easy! Rumble got rumbled by me! Draven. DRAVEN!

Good video, well done :) I do have one thing to say though:
Reading the stats from the abilities was really difficult or even impossible, it was too small. SHowing each ability alone instead of all 3 on the screen would be a better solution imo :)
He's my cheese pick in mid into yasuo, yone and talon. Nice to see them rage
I tried him and always felt like I wasn't doing very much damage, especially for a "mage" that's suppose to get up close to the opponent.

Everyone has too much mobility. You can't even reliably land a good ult after burning the enemies' Flash anymore.
My suggestion is an addition to his passive that changes his heat generation based off of leveling scaling so his tempo became faster just like every other champion.
Love the Metroid music! Nice video, I didn't really know how Rumble worked at all so it was very educational.
Also mythics are trash on him
2:00 idk if this was intentional, but Rumble in LoR allows you to discard up to 3 cards in your hands (to give all copies of him various buffs)
Here a fun idea:
When Rumble overheats, he doesn't get automaticly silenced, instead his abilities become a even stronger burst like abilities. If rumble uses them he will be silenced until he is completly cool down, but if he waits, it will simply return to danger zone
I swear last year they were on the right track, just for some reason they went with buffing his jg, the attack speed nerf was a lot. His overheat attack speed should be scaling. Toplaners can be reallllyyyyy harsh on him
change his shield and mov speed to passive: generate shield while in combat, reducing dmg taken
change his W to an electro charge that cools him off and while hes overheated add a sunfire cape ap based passive
Just got him in ARAM twice in a row and was curious about learning him since it was kinda fun so perfect timing
ive seen the idea of q spending heat and being a toggle instead of a fixed duration w/ cooldown, i feel like this would do 2 things; make managing heat more proactive and allow him to effectively play chicken with his abilities and heat gauge. (similar to ember in warframe)
if you gave q heat consumption that grew exponentially with heat and make the bonuses from heat all scale linearly instead of being binary on/off it could create this frantic all in where you desperately try and generate and spend as much heat as possible while not overheating, this style may also require changing the numbers on the heat values or having heat generation have diminishing returns. overheating could also be made more dynamic by having a "buffer" period where as soon as you go over 100% heat a short timer say 0.5s should start, the amount of heat above 100% you have when it finishes determines how long you are over heated for with the attack speed bonus fading away as he cools off, the scaling on this would have to be rather punishing to make it so players actually try to avoid it.
If you ever get back around to giving WEP, I would really love to see an episode about Leblanc

New Passive: Hextech Coolant System
Items that give Mana now increase Rumble's max Heat threshold at a (idk) ratio. his Empowered threshold stays the same. now he can utilize tank items that give Mana (frozen heart, etc) to increase ths uptime of his abilities while also increasing his durability (like other tanky mages) offering an alternative to his all-in playstyle (which remains an option as you can just not builr mana)
If I were to rework Rumble's Kit, I'd make him more similar to Renekton.
His Overheat mechanic would still be the same but his basic and ultimate abilities would change.
His Q would be the same but adds heat when below 50% and lowers heat when above 50% to better manage his heat.
His W would be the same
His E would be reworked to function like Varus Q or Xerath Q, where you hold it and aim for longer range.
I played with a rumble who absolutely refused to go top so he shared mid with someone until they disconnected and eventually bot disconnected so it was me (Fiddlesticks) and him and it was literally 2v5 and we won it was insane I have no idea how he did it
Meanwhile if you play Rumble in URF you achieve god mode just by mashing everything constantly.
Heat should decrease by 5 points every 1 or second autoattack...
It wouldnt be good for the view count to put at the moment in the title Im guessing.
Just starting the video, but holy crap is that KH2 Space Paranoids music playing at the beginning? You BGM choices are always top notch
No not quite XD but close! lol
In the end the real rumble was the friends we made along the way
Built in cooling mechanic idea:
INNATE - SAFETY MEASURES: Rumble's ability cooldowns cannot be reduced by ability haste at all.
“Mord and Rumble the only AP Bruisers” *sad singed noises*
I main him, but I mustn’t blind him. So I rarely play him :/
Rumble is one of the few champs that I go out of my way to avoid playing. He feels very clunky and awkward to use. It's too bad though because he's hella strong and has a fascinating kit.
At either level 1 or with each ult upgrade, he should get reduced heat cost on his abilities when at 50%
So he get more over heat, and can spam his abilities more but still having to manage that fine line for high risk high reward.
You forgot my boy fizz in the AP melee champs section :( , great vid tho!
I'd make his shield to cool him down if not fully destroyed. This will help him with tempo also forcing his oponent to attack him or run.
I think rumble could use a system like the Thaumaturge in FF14 where he could cycle between abilities that would heat him up and ones which either can only work after he’s heated or would help him control his heat
"Next to Mordekaiser, Rumble is pretty much the only ap bruiser in the game"
Volibear is right there
Singed
"Rumble has 2 dead zones, too hot and too cold."
Yup. Way to sum up the entire video in one sentence dude.
Give him an armor+mr boost while overheated to at least up his durability while he's silenced.
Rumble is a champion that lets you rapidly spam abilities but people don't like it when they are in the middle of spamming and they actually get punished by overheating when they don't want to. His Ult is incredibly powerful, he has no mana, and overheat is the only thing holding him back from being a complete menace.
potential idea might be to shift the way w is used. maybe make his w so that it generates heat, but can still be used while hes overheated. so, with enough cdr he has a reliable way to bail instead of committing 100% whenever he overheats. or make it so w REMOVES heat when used. this would allow him to have better agency over when he overheats, but still isn't fool proof
it would require tweaking of his heat-related numbers, but if done right it might make bruiser rumble more viable. he wouldnt have to build full ap to kill people since he wouldn't be boxed into maxing his passive and going all in.
just an idea
adding to this, it might be better to improve rumbles w movement speed while hes overheated. it gives him the ability to disengage if he cant fight, or stick to people so he can whack em with his empowered auto attacks. he also wouldnt be dependent on using his E to slow people to stay in range of them (since he cant use E1 while overheated)
Personally, i'd would like to see his W and R and give him a bit more options to work with.
Passive - Increased to 150 max. 0-49 does nothing, 50-99 empowers skills, 100-149 triggers self DoT, 150 X self true damage and 2~1s silence.
Q - Disable AA and lock the skill direction (same as Panth)
W (old R) - Single missile but storing charges (2 to 5), no slow. +25~50% duration on post-impact zone when empowered.
R - Reduce overheat, shield becomes less effective with heat and cd reduction goes twice faster while overheat is under 50 (same as ww W).
I thought that robot riding yordle doesn't exist at all.
I mean we only see him in like 1 in 40 matches.
I also exclusively play him top pretty much
Edit : He ARGUABLY needs nerfing in URF, being able to spam abilities during overheat is pretty OP XD / also as technically mentioned, he is a battle mage, so I see him not having a heat dissipater in his kit as normal, if he was closer to a natural bruiser, it'd make sense for the heat drop. But his "battle mage" status calls for more strategic movement and ability use I.E. managing your heat, rather than trade out something in his current kit for something as useless as "heat dissipater"
What if his ult quickly removed all his heat and did extra damage based on the heat used (lower the base numbers of course)
This would mean that if you’re maintaining danger zone heat before a fight, you can get a really mean initiate but have lower up front damage from everything else for the start of the fight, or you could go in and make the most of your abilities then finish with a really scary ult after getting to overheat levels
When I see Rumbles kit he kinda feels like a 3 element mage (Q Fire, W Ice and E Electric).
Making the amount of heat gathered after using the 1st initial heat - generating ability reduced by a certain % would fix him.
rumble should get a mini update. make hes Q and W into the same, just hes Q with an added shield (no MS buff) and give him a new W that makes hes heat lower. like an ability that acts like a mundo W but with steam and an added slow to compensate for not having a speedbuff and he would be fine, that way you can manage your heat without being afk
@@MattiXQ7 For me it goes like that
Kalista gets picked somewhat on par with Kog’maw. Skewed because my girlfriend can play her.
I see Azir and Aurelion Sol played every 50-100 games for the novelty of it (in normals)
Skarner and Taliyah less than that
Then I saw Rumble maybe four times in total
And I only fought against Taric twice
@@lorieslori8051 Well, that's true. I've never seen anyone play taric, besides myself. No wonder no one one knows what to do when I ping ult.
As well, most ap items have to be balanced around more traditional mages or ap assassins because if they made the items too good for sustaining ap bruisers, mages and ap assassins would end up being OP cause they would deal a ton of damage AND be tanky as hell.
verry simple way : ability haste reduces time before cooling down, and time during overheat
that way builds that uses overheat just don't build ability haste and you "buff" that duration, and thoses that dislike it have a way to counter it
i miss old rage blade and nash building that on rumble was fun
My first thought was...Just go pure AD/AP melee and rush them, since using your abilities is limited this much, just silence yourself and go all in with your passive. as one who never played it before, i'm just going with my plans like my Tank Yuumi top lane. Which never loses or falls off. But those are just blind games i'm in. So it's meaningless but fun.
I would add Shyvana to the AP Bruiser list as well. Shyvana is weird in the sense she is a Tank, AD/AP Bruiser, and Mage builds
For example:
I used to love playing Rumble jungle but most people consider him bad and say I'm throwing when I pick him now a days =(
I find his kit very fun and he's a cool champion to play.
