I was wondering when this video would pop up. You’d think for a champion that everyone recommends you try if you’re new to the game would even have a presence in low elo, but she’s just as nonexistent there as anywhere else.
The points in Vars video are spot on. It also doesn't help that more and more champions are constantly getting really good movement abilities in their kits; look at Ambessa for example. I think if they changed her E and may it similar to one of the new champ's movement abilities for her ASU that her pick rate would definitely increase.
I had an ARAM games where the enemies team were full of bruiser and tank, i.e. targets that Annie can't burst. So I built Malignance, Liandry, Rylai, and watched my Tibber stares them to death. It was hilarious. No body expected Tibber to death so much AoE damage after the initial burst.
Annie is useful for new players i think, try learning Asol when you first start the game. I like that her stun is not on one single ability but can be whatever, that teaches new players that things are not always as simple as 'q deals damage', while also being easy to grasp.
old Asol sure i see the point but new Asol is the easiest mid champ to play Q is dps where you can E for wave clear and W to roam R is a simple AoE ult all this while being the most monsteras champ later game (still mad they removed Asol for the simplest and least interactive champ in the game when old Asol was super interactive and hard to play with massive effect...)
@@darkumineru1681 He's not the hardest champ to play but he has mechanics you have to read and understand beyond 'press key to deal damage'. A new player has to understand the game first, not the champion, Asol is not a noob friendly champion, you have to be at least familiar with the game.
@@darkumineru1681 Lux or Annie or, i don't know, Veigar, are much more noob friendly, while also allowing for some growth in your understanding of the game.
Syndra is way better bc she does similar thing to Annie and her combo is relatively simple. Switching Annie Q into a skill shot can help her a long way. Or every charge can stun but more charges = longer stun
Many of these videos go "Why play champion A when you can play champion B and get the same move plus something better?" Because Vars I don't own all the champions and still don't know what all the champions do. I am doing my best to learn as many as I can but there are so many that even playing one new champ per day would take 6 months.
Riot just generally doesn't want any of the burst mages to get full one shot potential. Assassins have an easier time getting to the 100% burst while burst mages tend to be more around 50%, requiring them to find safe trades till they can get to their kill threshold. Tradeoff usually being the assassins don't have as much utility and mages can do their stuff at range, so it's at least somewhat fair in theory. Still love Annie both for her simplicity and Tibbs being just a fun tool to play with as a pet.
I agree with your statement at the beginning. It's much easier to design mages because you can always show how they differ from other mages because they often have AOE and skill shots which are very visual in nature and therefore are easier to see in their design.
This video is sponsored by DarkNet. Script-makers understand that Annie is a threat for all cheaters. Right now Annie is one of the best ways for detecting cheaters. 1. Annie is the only hero with ranged target stun. Got 4 stacks and got into range? Look how cheater use his flash. Most scripts ALWAYS react to stacked Q the same way - flash away. With speed from E Annie usually can catch up and do full combo and second Q will be enough to finish the deal if the target is not fed. 2. Both W and R are almost instant cast skills. Human`s eyes and brain cant react instantly to it, but scripts - can. 3. How to overcome Annie`s low range? Wait for the enemy in the bush, where you will get vision on enemy before enemy get`s vision on Annie. Oh, wait... Some scripts provide the "enemy have vision on you", thus showing telling cheater about Annie standing in that bush. What cheater do next? Goes away from the bush. And so, we have a champion who`s both mechanics and playstyle are one of the best to understand if you are playing against cheaters. P.S. Oh, I completly forgot. We now have Vanguard, which prevents cheating in game. Right? Right?...
What I think they need to do with Annie is throw her away from being a burst mage. They need to focus more on using Tibber. They could make a huge change, and this may sound crazy, but instead of making tibbers an ultimate they should make tibbers her passive. And basically make it like every four spells tibbers Paw comes out does extra damage and then make the ultimate with Tibber actually coming out just like it’s current way but does like splash AOE when it comes out on the fourth spell that way, you can also still give her a stun that combos in with like the W or the Q when you do the fourth spell basically what I’m saying is every spell gets like an empowered version on the fourth spell
so Karma but with a Tibbers summon? Eh, I could see it working however this definitely kills her current identity and ifk how many current Annie players would play this new version. Something the failed VGUs of League all suffer from is alienating the original playerbase with the new design by deviating too much from the original identity.
@@sekira4516 oh I mean it like every fourth spell is empowered one kinda like how her current passive works, but instead It makes her spells have like an added effect to them like on the fourth spell, summon tibbers would bring out rage mode tibbers, or fourth spell molten shield has a small burst kind of like karma’s old ult barrier, her w can be a longer range, and her q can have the stun. I was spitballing ideas as well so some of it got lost in my rapid thinking. but basically what I’m trying to say is you can keep her identity as a burst mage, but make tibbers feel more part of the kit or you can connect Q with your ultimate like with how many kills you get with Q or minion kills with Q it makes tibbers bigger like for example 10 stacks tibbers is small, and with 100 stacks he is colossal.
The WNOP videos are my favorite to watch in this channel. I feel i learn the most out of these videos always so thank you for that. The 40 OG champions feel too much outdated nowadays with all the new releases in the game. Annie, Vlad etc.. they clearly need VGU's at the very least. Have you ever made a video (top 10 or 15 best champions late game) ? And might as well 10 or 15 best early champs. Could be a fun one to do. 😊
i feel like an argument could be made to lower her auto attack range and increase q and w range. or just make changes to shift her to support where her kit isn’t as outmatched
no one plays annie because jax mains hunt her to extinction. jokes aside but riot constantly nerfs annie I loved playing annie support but riot immedietly gutted her as a support as soon as it started becoming popular, annie isnt popular because riot doesnt want it to be
the only time ill play annie is game modes like aram, spellbook, urf etc. this champ is long overdue for a rework. a simple champ that's hard too play in this meta alone lol
I feel like Annie Q and W are the same ability they both do the same thing and Annie E doesnt fit her its meant for a different champ and her R also has same range as Q W she needs a new Q or W E ability
Imo the beauty in simple champions is when you can do well despite their lack of depth. And you get to focus on other things like positioning a bit more.
No one plays annie cuz any mage released in the past 10 years does what she does infinitely better and without needing to micromanage leagues dogshit sunmon ai.
The fact of the matter is that there are old, relatively simple mages that simply do her job better. Malzahar and Brand instantly come to mind here. If they barely ever get played...wtf chance does Annie have?
Hey, Vars. I was thinking maybe you could do a video on the (major) item and rune changes in Wild Rift and also it's uniqe items. I think it could make for a very interesting video.
Tibbers should have more usefulness outside of just dropping him for his explosion and damage. Make him have a passive like Daisy where if he attacks enough then he creates a damaging AoE around him and that can be activated sooner when Annie casts her own skills, upping the burst playstyle while giving Tibbers a way to be more of a threat.
I remember when they reworked E to be a thornmail, and this Ezreal shot Q as kiting and managed to off himself because of the E :D I was laughing a lot
My guess (before i watched the video completely) is that she has rather short range. So any champion that can close the gap to her can outburst her. Her telegraphed passive is also rather easy to avoid if you have more dashes and can withstand her Q. That means she is feast or famine. Either she is OP because she can oneshot you midgame. Or she is useless because she can't and getting dove permanently.
Wild rift actually lets you recast summon tibbers and tibbers will leap on the enemy to deal another burst of damage while knocking enemies up but annie cant recast for like a couple of second so she doesnt use that immediately after the immediate cast to guarantee a one shot i think thats a way better way to design her ult and tibbers doesnt have the enrage mechanic to balance it out
I feel like Smite nailed what they were trying to do with Annie when they made the God Hera. Hera has Tibbers ult but better, a shield, a CC ability, and a damage ability....but her kit flows way better and the ranges of her abilities feel way better than Annie.
i just started with league again and its kinda insane that EVERYONE even in low low elo like iron plays just meta champs and meta builds. New player losing against those champs and start playing them aswell. But thats not only a league problem its in everygame. Just speedrunning, be the best as fast as possible. And if your not going with the meta they will flame or report you just for playing the champ or build you wanna play. This robs so much fun out of every game. Back in the days.. no matchmaking no one knows the meta. Thats the best feeling. And thats also the reason i like leauge the most as pvp game atm because they change so much constantly, so the meta always change. But yeah you never get that much fun again if you played leauge or like vanilla wow back in the days
Annie enjoyer here. She's just been kinda left behind. Multiple youtuber coaches can't even recommend her for beginners, let alone any other strata of play. Early game: It feels bad having to bait out and dodge multiple opponent abilities in order to get your lane poke combo off. High risk for poor reward. Midgame: not enough AP to burst squishies. Dependant on teammates to exploit the opportunities she creates. Lategame: outscaled. While trying to position in a flank is fun, Annie's lack of range, durability, and mobility, means you're betting the farm on a Sportcenter play with no way out. My friends scoff, but I honestly think she's a champ with a simple kit but a challenging playstyle. Many of her peers can get a lot more value while not having to dodge punches among the bruisers and juggernauts like Neo in the Matrix. Ultimately I think she's really tough to climb with. You're at the mercy of the 4 other players you're teamed up with to seize the opportunities you create. Its very very difficult to develop the lead needed to do any sort of single-handed carrying.
I haven't played in over 6 months because of Vanguard so I don't know if this has become less viable, but I built Annie much more like a bruiser than a typical mage. Items like Rod of Ages and Seraphs Embrace (along with other AP bruiser items) make Annie actually fairly tanky without sacrificing too much damage, and Tibbers gives a large hitbox to block skillshots with on top of being a fairly large amount of damage. It was a lot of fun to dance around opponents while being tanky enough to survive the hits you couldn't dodge and weaving spells with her fairly short CDs, and when I played her she was very able to play out longer fights and land 2-3 stuns in a skirmish and sometimes even more for teamfights if they run long enough I'd say she was far better off as a Bruiser compared to a burst mage.
what do you think about annies ''re-work'' on wild rift? do you think that it makes her broken? since you have a second chance to one shot some one with tiber's recast
Giving her more damage would be fine. But if they dont want to do that give her more effects to her abilities. Make her E do both its old and current effects. Maybe make it so depending what spell you stun with it does a different effect. Maybe stunning with her Q causes a explosion of damage in a large range, W could set targets on fire for like 3 seconds, her Ult could make it a tank melter where for every second tibbers is burning or hitting them applys a stacking debuff that lasts until tibbers would expire normally where only annie would get a damage increase against them so say at like 10 stacks the tank takes 50% more damage from everything shes does. That way she still is more of a threat but can still have the issue of if shes losing shes still got those weaknesses but being she can fight her way out more often gives her a chance to do something than just "welp i'm dead" Idk her core identity and all that doesn't need to change really.
I mean the issue I have with Annie is that she doesn't have the best range and often I have to lean into a more tanky/Control mage centric build as to win my trades more often and still manage to come back in the mid game if my early wasn't the best. I feel like I rely on my E and Tibbers more than my basic mage abilities like Q and W. It also doesn't help that her stun is fairly telegraphed forcing you to sort of mindgame to get it off. She isn't bad though its just her competition in the mid lane is usually champions that either roam better than her or farm better than her and don't sit in the middle where she does. Where her farming is good but she is vulnerable if she uses her stun on a minion, and her roaming is great but you don't move around the map fast enough to get back to lane in time if someone manages to shove the wave in. Annie was my favourite roamer when Predator was still good and we had boots of mobility. And she is still okay in the support role to counter some all in comps but unlike brand or Xerath her poking is nowhere near as impressive. Honestly I hope Riot gives her the ability to jungle and let her summon a more nerfed version of Tibbers from level 1 and potentially push her into a more roam centric role or they buff some of her basic mage abilities to be a bit more comfy in the mid lane against enemies who can shove or poke her out.
They should literally give her shield ability more options or simply give her 2-3 stacks when she uses her E. Make her a stun bot if she can not consistently oneshots people that are in her range
I feel that as a simple low elo burst mage for new players curious about mage champs Annie's fine as she is, the only issue I have is higher elo. Even though most noob friendly champs get worse in higher elo, it feels like Annie is among those hit hardest by this skill issue. With proper team play she's fine but as mentioned in this video, other champs can do what Annie does but different/better. A low skill floor mage is needed so that newer players can learn macro and stuff while playing a mage, but there's more "interesting" (technically a subjective thing) mages that fit this frame already. That said, I learned LoL with Azir and Rek'Sai, so for players with a genuine interest in champion interactions and no issues with reaction time/fast button presses, playing a low stress champ isn't needed. The effort to success ratio of Annie falls off too much in the face of other champs that can do more and do it better, sadly.
So tired of the argument of skill expression, that's how we get reworks like akali and y'all were losing your damn MINDS about her for like 3 seasons. An Annie vgu would be a nightmare, she's a great introduction to burst mages just like lux for new players. Simplicity has a place in league, no Annie player is complaining about how simple she is and how they wish they can do more.
Even coaches like Curtis agrees she’s no longer even suitable for the “beginner mage” role due to the state of how mid lane is played right now. If you want to play a “simple mage” you could just play Lux, Veigar, Vex and the likes and get way more mileage out of those champs than you can with Annie. She’s dated.
Long story short, she’s old (NO NOT THAT KIND OF OLD YOU CREEPS). I actually would like to see old mord e replace Molten shield I think the delayed burst then heal would actually work really well on here especially with tibbers.
annie is like the personification of the issue i have with burst mages in league rn. bc shes so good at what she does riot cant allow her to be good. as someone who plays both assassins and mages, its always baffling to me how i can be 2/7 on an assassin and still oneshot an adc easily, but i have to be 7/1 on a burst mage to do the same, if that. most of the time they still survive with like 100 hp and im just shit out of luck because now all my abilities are on 10 second cds and my autos do 27 damage. at least with an assassin if you cant burst with your abilities completely your autos will still chunk enough to finish them off usuall. single target dmg, sure, but getting someone out of the fight and being able to go back in on a second target is a far cry better than usin gyour whole combo, not killing anyone, and now being completely defensless and useless to your team until all your abilities are back up. its very frustrating. i love playing mages but i hate that you essentially arent able to play them unless ur fed. and even being fed usually still isnt enough (depending on the champ). dont even get me started on how fucking useless they are against tanks or any beefy ad champ like bruisers and fighters. might as well just just not even try fighting them bc they can break through your cc, do half your hp with one auto, and your full combo wont even break their kaenic rookern shield.
I think it is crucial to have Noob Champions but at the same time I think Riot should try their best to make part of these Noob Champions kit easy to use, difficult to master. In the case of Annie, Tibbers is a great start to add more complexity. I don't know how this will go but since Annie walking towards you is so telegraphed then why not allow her to cast her basic abilities through Tibbers. Maybe give the option to summon Tibbers on a longer duration at the cost of the burst damage or something.
I wish Annie got a VGU, but I would want is probably very different from what others want for her. I want Tibbers to become her passive or basic ability so she always has him out and having a kit entirely around Tibbers protecting her. But that's cause I only play her for Tibbers. Her voice is grating. Her gameplay isn't that exciting until BAM BEAR! Tibber is just really funny to me cause I like bears. 🐻 Voli is another of my favorite champs cause of it.
Annie should be reworked from a AOE burst mage to a complete “Tibbers, this guy in particulair” mage. Turn up Tibbers to 100 and make it so her kit focuses on buffing Tibbers in certain ways.
Assassins are alawed to have inough damage to oneshot someone as long as they don't have hybrid damage, doubel crit, spamable dash, aoe damage that grates a shield, rampung movemant soeed buff that gives you a true damage echi of all danege you did while in this state, two AOE knckups and an ult that can setup teamfight wombo combo. Im not referung to anyone, what are you talking about?
i only played Annie support and i think im the only one play her =))). Even in normal games. I never see anyone play her againis me. But this champ has everything to climb rank easily even play support.
I dont think she needs a full VGU. But Riot needs to do something with her Q. Maybe make it a skill shot so you can increase the range. I also dont know how I feel about the shield. It doesnt really help her Burst the enemy so maybe they could do something here. But I guess Riot needs to remove her ensured Q Stun so they can allow her to be strong. But they cant change Tibbers as he is to iconic
honestly the should make her e into a stun and tibbers part of the passive or at least make it on par with daisy like every 3 autos it ignites the enemy since shyvana is the next vgu im just going to have to wait.
also annie in the past had predator and a ap version of yomous ghost blade which built up alot of MS and she was played as such out run the opponent and burst and back off, now she is a flash ulter like vald but vlad can sustain himself in the fight.
annie is always gonna be a comfy pick. just slap predator on her and she can catch up to anyone who isnt rammus or singed and when whoever gets caught into a rylais tibbers they are done for. that combined with a point and click stun / an easy to hit aoe stun makes her so easy to play
@@Ratty524 bro ghost is just predator without restrictions so in what world was ir more problematic than 99% of newly released champs? you cant claim that ANYTHING is problematic when you got ksante in the game still
If her Q was the same as in wild rift.. she would be so much more used. Her q being a target makes it a short range/mid dmg projectile... it being a skillshot would allow for her to actually poke without being outpoked. Assassins out damage her when trading as they go all in... and mages like lux/viktor/xearth/ziggs etc outrange her so she needs to flash R..

So I built Malignance, Liandry, Rylai, and watched my Tibber stares them to death. It was hilarious. No body expected Tibber to death so much AoE damage after the initial burst.
Annie is useful for new players i think, try learning Asol when you first start the game. I like that her stun is not on one single ability but can be whatever, that teaches new players that things are not always as simple as 'q deals damage', while also being easy to grasp.
asol is literally easier than annie
old Asol sure i see the point but new Asol is the easiest mid champ to play Q is dps where you can E for wave clear and W to roam R is a simple AoE ult
all this while being the most monsteras champ later game (still mad they removed Asol for the simplest and least interactive champ in the game when old Asol was super interactive and hard to play with massive effect...)
As someone who is also named Jared you jumpscared the hell out of me there :D
They need to extend the range on Annie ult. It pisses me off. I don't even play league anymore but I even know that one buff would make her viable.
Many of these videos go "Why play champion A when you can play champion B and get the same move plus something better?" Because Vars I don't own all the champions and still don't know what all the champions do. I am doing my best to learn as many as I can but there are so many that even playing one new champ per day would take 6 months.
6:10 "Otherwise no ... need to aim"
Then why do I always miss my ult+stun 😭
Jokes aside, great video. Thanks for the content!
Helps to play around her long auto poke. Her biggest problem is wave clear. Max q no wave clear. Max w no mana.
Bro forgot Aurora when saying Hwei was the latest mage, anyways great vid as always!
people consider her a Skirmisher even tho she plays like a Burst Mage without cc

Right? Right?...
Thanks for the Credit Boss man, and Great Video
Annie the lil girl with a lot of spice and ☝not a lot of nice!! Hits everytime
Okay WHY do I remember you making a why no one plays Annie video before?
i see a lot of people still play annie. shes the most beginner friendly midlaners and she's been really shining with new items like malignance
I really like mage classes in this game just for their ability to control the field. It’s my most played type.
i will forever love annie 💖
Sorry but there is a GREAT feeling when you see a Jhin being flashTibbered into the ground.
0:34 ah yes, newest mage Hwei. Seems like our bunny girl has been forgotten
no one plays annie because jax mains hunt her to extinction.
jokes aside but riot constantly nerfs annie I loved playing annie support but riot immedietly gutted her as a support as soon as it started becoming popular, annie isnt popular because riot doesnt want it to be
Channeling all of my willpower to resist the urge to tell another Jax mains joke
Annies biggest strength was the enemy needing to know when to engage or disengage. Annies biggest strength got removed with clarity update.
I don't know if they'll ever CONSIDER doing a VGU for annie, though... She is the epithome of the basic mage, in league...
Haha great video vars! Reminds me of (*Insert unfunny repetition of the Jax main joke that was funny two years ago*)

All of them fears jax mains
the only time ill play annie is game modes like aram, spellbook, urf etc. this champ is long overdue for a rework. a simple champ that's hard too play in this meta alone lol
Let me rephrase the title: "why would u play annie"?
No one plays annie cuz any mage released in the past 10 years does what she does infinitely better and without needing to micromanage leagues dogshit sunmon ai.
The fact of the matter is that there are old, relatively simple mages that simply do her job better. Malzahar and Brand instantly come to mind here. If they barely ever get played...wtf chance does Annie have?
Hey, Vars. I was thinking maybe you could do a video on the (major) item and rune changes in Wild Rift and also it's uniqe items. I think it could make for a very interesting video.
Just got this in my recommended after going 2/18 on Annie in aram. Very funny
It's said she's a beginner champ but her low range and need to snowball make her not good for beginners.
Main reason is that Jax hit the gym for his visual rework so it's harder for her to escape him
Don't listen to them!, 𝘆𝗼𝘂'𝗿𝗲 not 𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗲, it's o𝗸, and 𝘆ou are so sooo 𝘀weet, and 𝗜 𝗵𝗼𝗽𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 don't 𝗾𝘂𝗶𝘁 🫶🏻
I remember when they reworked E to be a thornmail, and this Ezreal shot Q as kiting and managed to off himself because of the E :D
I was laughing a lot
Annie is fun af
i just started with league again and its kinda insane that EVERYONE even in low low elo like iron plays just meta champs and meta builds.
04:26 pog
Move her passive to Q and make it stun with only Q and Ult, give her a new and intuitive passive she can play around
what do you think about annies ''re-work'' on wild rift?
do you think that it makes her broken? since you have a second chance to one shot some one with tiber's recast
I miss support Annie.
I d say the answer is mostly range
As a jax main i enjoyed this video
They should literally give her shield ability more options or simply give her 2-3 stacks when she uses her E. Make her a stun bot if she can not consistently oneshots people that are in her range
2:55 I wish they’d bring back changing map for holidays, always felt like RuneScape too. Sucks.
Change her passive to have all her abilities stun without the need to stack. Yup that'll allow her to go against everyone dashing.
Wow...thanx vars
I think it is crucial to have Noob Champions but at the same time I think Riot should try their best to make part of these Noob Champions kit easy to use, difficult to master. In the case of Annie, Tibbers is a great start to add more complexity. I don't know how this will go but since Annie walking towards you is so telegraphed then why not allow her to cast her basic abilities through Tibbers. Maybe give the option to summon Tibbers on a longer duration at the cost of the burst damage or something.
they could do annies q damage higher but make it a skillshot, but then she would not be as begginer friendly so it is tricky, good vid ❤
Ryze
They could make Tibbers the focus of her Kit, but then we just have a AP Yorick.
Ivern is it you?
Anne got a rework for wildrift, and she's a little more skill expressive now. She has a skill shot now on her and it has a very small aoe when it hits
Im not referung to anyone, what are you talking about?
alright where is Anniebot?
i only played Annie support and i think im the only one play her =))).
Even in normal games. I never see anyone play her againis me.
But this champ has everything to climb rank easily even play support.
Short outro music--you okay?
I think they removed predator

If her Q was the same as in wild rift.. she would be so much more used. Her q being a target makes it a short range/mid dmg projectile... it being a skillshot would allow for her to actually poke without being outpoked. Assassins out damage her when trading as they go all in... and mages like lux/viktor/xearth/ziggs etc outrange her so she needs to flash R..
