Me too, always wanted to start plane spotting at JKIA but kept thinking they wouldn't allow me to or they would arrest me and charge me with terrorism the fear is real.

Hi Tom! Thank you for your kind words. Indeed you’re right, plane spotting is unfortunately a taboo as far as our authorities are concerned. Which is why take offs and landings are not really easy to be captured as it’s an active work environment
Me neither, but JKIA also sees military moments from our own Air Force and those of other countries so as such our local forces aren’t keen on that being photographed. Additionally many police forces forbid photography of govt buildings, of which our terminal buildings count as such. Can’t fault the theory, but for avgeeks it can be frustrating!
Nice to see a plane spotting video from JKIA. Never seen one before and that also from the airside out near the active runways and taxiways. Would love to see a video from Mombasa airport as well.
Hi Mehul, thanks for the support! Mombasa is a little tricky as I’d actually have to work there to get any footage. Also I think you’d find that it could get boring after awhile. There’s KQ and Jambojet and then intl traffic is quite limited. Ideally what I’d like to do as far as Mombasa is concerned is if this grows to provide any meaningful revenue stream is do a trip report on a flight to msa, do some spotting and then do a report on another airline on the return leg to nbi. We ll just have to see how this plays out!
Its so annoying that all these foreign airlines are flying monsters of planes, while kq in it's own home ground just flying a lowly 200 pax b 787 -8 after being mismanaged by the management and workers. What a shame, at some point kq was my favorite airline, not anymore until they put their house in order I'll continue avoiding them.😢😢
I know what you mean but I consulted an external expert on these things. Recently KQ announced that they were looking at adding to their fleet and this includes a further 787. If they looked in to a second hand one that’s powered by RR Trent 1000 instead of the GEnx it adds to maintenance complications and hence cost. If they go to the -9 it adds to crew complications, particularly cabin crew. They have to be careful on how they add to their fleet without added costs.
@aaaviation1 nice why they send their smaller jets don't they have 777's or a350's for long haul. Don't know much abt them I see them on these plane spotter videos or some pilots who I follow on Instagram
@@tikindegwa6683 well they don’t have wide bodies yet but apparently they are in the market for 787’s and A350’s. However even if they get those it will be a while before Nairobi gets them. They ll send the A321 NEO here before that happens

That turbo prop 14:09 which appears to be Jambo jet, how is the pilot landing without flaring for a nose up? Ni kama anataka ishike chini na all gears at once. 😁
@@michaelmuya3013 i don't think its the size of the runway that is the problem, but the gate spacing and taxiway spacing that could be the issue. The A380 has a 79 meter wingspan which far exceeds that of the 747-400, B747-8 and the upcoming B777-9.
@@michaelmuya3013 the A350-1000, B777-300ER AND 747-400 are the largest aircraft that regularly come to NBI. Aside from that there are occasional visits by the Boeing C 17 and maybe theres been AN 124's.
Compagnie Africaine d'Aviation, renamed FlyCAA in 2013, is a regional airline from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. I believe this aircraft was wetleased there before its assignment in Kenya.

Amazing video. I don’t like how JKIA doesn’t allow avgeeks to spot planes near the runways.

I think the flare is more subtle on smaller aircraft than larger planes. If anyone knows better pls feel free to correct me
