i grew up on social distortion and all the punk/rock bands of that era, from bed religion to the Ramones and more, i finally got to go see social distortion and bad religion live for my 18th birthday at the coke cola roxy in atlanta, i swear ive been a happier person since that night, i have a special place in my heart for social distortion, i remember my mom dropping me off at school with this blasting n telling me “have a good day at school sweetheart, i’ll see you when i get home, love you”, my dad gave me his old cds of social distortion n a social distortion sticker to put on my car, when i get my driver’s license, my mom would also always call me her little monster cuz she got told a lot i look jus like her, anyways mike ness n social distortion have always been apart of life and i want to say thank you to them, for being a light in my life that never got put out no matter how hard things got.

There are only a few singers who speak to my soul everytime I listen to them. Lemmy from Motorhead is one of them, Mike Ness is the other one.
Thank you Mike for being here everytime i feel down.

Back in the early 80s , the LA punk scene explode in southern California . I was part of it and I embraced all . The band that got me the most was social distortion , I remember the early club days with other great bands like Black flag , bad religion and many others great bands . But Social D was my favorite , I'm one of the lucky few to see then play with the Ramones . I Was there when Black flag played with the Ramones and the riot happen . But social distortion was playing at a small club out here in the valley and it was the great night of the Burbank punk rockers hanging out with the North Hollywood pun rockers . That that night was memorable , but Mike Ness was walking around the club he was approachable he'll talk to you he was cool . We tore that club up and the fire Marshals try to shut us down . But it didn't happen and we had our night . Social distortion fan for life story of my life always

I got to see these badasses open for the Ramones in Dallas @ the Bronco Bowl in '92 (must've bought $200 in merch) saw 'em again, Dallas, Fall '96 or '97, headlining, with TSOL and D Generation X as support acts. I couldn’t pick one. White Light is the one that really turned me onto them in 1996, although I’d heard Story of my Life a couple of years earlier in the movie Reality Bites.
Social Distortion, Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell, Live at the Roxy, and WLWHWT are all such classic albums, it would be like picking my favourite child. Couldn’t do it...

if i had to pick just one song from this band quite possibly this one is my top favorite
this song is so real in that it bares out the human experience and the battles we face in life, this song in particular seems to highlight the greatest battle any man/women faces and that's the one inside our heads
hope you don't think im being over-analytical but this song speaks to me this way
i have heard some say man this stuff is dark depressing and dark i reply really?? then i suppose reality is dark and depressing too and it can be at times, but it is best to never become a "Pollyanna" about your feeling as many tend to do because there afraid of there true feelings and that's a worse torture than coming to grips with how you really feel inside
my favorite part of this song is
"YEAH I GOT FAITH BUT SOMETIME FEAR JUST WEIGHS TO MUCH, DON'T WANNA FEEL COLD WIND FLOWING THROUGH ME LIKE AN EMPTY TOUCH Ive been a waitin im waitin for some kind of sign"
bottom line anyone can say what they want and they will, im a Christian so to speak but im still a punk at heart, i wanna be real!! its a fight or a war of sorts that we all must fight
Mike is quite a story teller and have always love his work

i have found it is best to talk it out with someone who really cares before it becomes destructive, when it is suppressed long enough it can do damage in every direction including yourself, even if talking about its not going to make the cause go away i myself find myself feeling better and coming up look like less an idiot when i talk about it,some pains and hurts takes longer to rise above than others and can vary in time and intensity from person to person, give yourself the time you need to do it and in the mean time dont hurt others, never be alone inside your own mind for too long because the greatest battle men/women face are the ones inside ther own heads, there is strength in numbers
thanks hope this helps your friend Joe

You are so right Joe! That is good advice.
One thing I would like to contribute that has been changing my life is The Healing Codes. Google it.
I don't want to sound like a salesman for obvious reasons, but the codes really changed my life. It's a form of energy meditation. I bought the book for like eight bucks and did 10 sessions and my skin is clearing up already.
To perform a healing code, start by calming yourself. It begins with a meditative state. Then, you begin to point your fingers at the stress points of your face (forehead, temple, neck & jawline) while repeating statements that directly contradict the lies torment yourself on a daily basis. For me, these lies were "You can't get a GF, you're too ugly" or "Your mom doesn't love you as much as your brothers" or "You weren't popular in High School because of X and Y.." etc.

    • @davidontiveroz8295
      @davidontiveroz8295 10 років тому +2

After doing about five Codes, you will begin developing a profound awareness of your unconscious mind. You know, this really could be an hour long typing sesh but bottom line is: from brother to brother, if anyone is struggling out there, I invite you to give it a shot. It healed my psoriasis and that fucking voice inside my head that torments me

Uninvited feelings, they come without warning and they stay too long
I don't wanna feel, and if I run they'll be just as strong.
I've been a-waiting, I'm waiting for some kind of sign,
I try to separate, try to separate my body from my mind.
I watch the clock as the second hand slowly goes strolling by.
I don't want to feel, when a loved one's time's come to die,
I've been a-waiting, I'm waiting for some kind of sign,
I try to separate, try to separate my body from my mind.
    Cold feelings in the night.
You know, this feeling just ain't right.
And though I try I just can't hide.
    Cold feelings in the night.
    Look out!
Yeah I got faith, but sometimes fear it just weighs too much,
I don't want to feel, cold winds blowing through me like an empty touch.
I've been a-waiting, I'm waiting for some kind of sign.
I try to separate, try to separate my body from my mind.
    Cold feelings in the night
You know, this feeling just ain't right.

    Uninvited feelings
They come without a warning and they stay too long
    I don't wanna feel
If I run they will be just as strong
    I've been a-waiting
I'm waiting for some kind of sign
    I try to separate
Try to separate my body from my mind
    I watch the clock
As the second hand slowly goes strolling by
    I don't want to feel
When a loved one's time comes to die
    I've been a-waiting
I'm waiting for some kind of sign
    I try to separate
Try to separate my body from my mind
    Cold feelings in the night
You know, this feeling just ain't right
And though I try I just can't hide
    Cold feelings in the night
    Look out!
    Yeah, I got faith
But sometimes fear just weighs too much
    I don't want to feel
Cold winds blowing through me like an empty touch
    I've been a-waiting
I'm waiting for some kind of sign
    I try to separate
Try to separate my body from my mind
    Cold feelings in the night
You know, this feeling just ain't right
And though I try I just can't hide
    Cold feelings in the night
    Cold feelings in the night
You know, this feeling just ain't right
And though I try I just can't hide
    Cold feelings in the night
    Cold feelings in the night
    Cold feelings in the night
    Cold feelings in the night

+kingdom7777777 Well thats stupid, because Mike Ness sings about God, and he doesn't claim to be Him. Wise up.

I have every album and love the mix of country punk rockabilly but this hard rockingkick a** song is still my favorite. one of the greatest leads in rock history. big influence on my songwriting. check out Hot Rod Girl.
