I didn't know..thanks I'm from Norwalk the next town...I went to school also in Fullerton..the night school..93.. truly love this band . thanks again stay ferice and free love you lupo
Took me 10 years to figure out who this band was. 1 of my ex was a punk chick & this was 1 of the many songs she played by these guys. Few months ago when I was on a bender this song shuffled on & I was reintroduced
I’m a 73y/o boomer; my son played guitar in a SD cover band in SF, & turned me on to this song and Story of my Life. I think Ness is a great frontman, guitarist & songwriter. He &SD are Largely unknown and under appreciated by my generation. But IMO they play straight ahead hard rock, and the punk is not overstated, they should be played on indie radio so old people can hear them while they drive
They are playing a few hours from here in Sept. My 17 year old juat made me feel like I did a good job as a father when he said Dad social distortion is coming we should go! Lol
Still sounds and feels fresh- buzz worthy- cool- alt- punk as when it came out. This plus Story of My Life- When She Begins To Roll are on my top 10 Friday Night playlist for life! This sh*t will never go out of style. Classic- Timeless Friday Night Anthems!
I'm 53 now, and I'm sure u remember the 70s bro? Those were great times, but other than that, i loved the early to mid 90's!! After that everything went to hell
You could have also pick out Bible verses in some of Mike's songs. I'm a smoking drinking Falmouth idiot but I love Jesus and I follow his 11th commandment help others anytime anywhere just my nature bro
Original West Coast Punk. As Legit as The Ramones are to NYC. Saw them open for Sonic Youth and Crazy Horse in 92. They were the best thing that night.
Life changing band for me, I took all 4 of my kids to a SD concert after their HS graduations. Everyone needs to experience a Social D show at least once
To my dear friend Kathleen that lived in So. Cal......Cancer may have taken your body but I close my eyes and see you dancing across the star filled sky while this is blasting throughout the entire universe....I miss you so much.
i know you dont know me dude, but you sound pretty cool. my wife has cancer and I kinda look at her that way sometimes. The fire in her eyes and her wild spirit has never faded, luckily shes still with me, peace to you brother.
Brother, my Wife died in 03 from the cancer, that fuckin hits home for me,fuckin great song & bad luck is all apart of our experience & makes me think why my sorry ass is still alive, why the truly good one go & some bad motherfuckers too, but to me it seem unfair bad fuckin luck.
It's waaaaaaaayyyyy too long since I have listen to Social D! Love the power, inspired by the in-your-face passion. Macho without being jerky. Can't wait to see them live again!
Whether I have been a crappy day or a tremendous day or just an average day, whether I am just in some "mood" surfing You Tube, I can always turn to Social D for a pick me up. Probably cost me a few nights of sleep staying up re-watching these videos a few times. Thanks for keeping Rock real! You guys are Timeless...
Saw Social Distortion open for Neil Young in 1991 at the LA Sports Arena and they cranked. Had never heard of the band before seeing them live. Went out and bought their material the next day...
I got to meet these dudes back in '81 shared studio with them. I was a drummer in a band called ANTI. In Hollywood on Sunset bl or nearby. Just remember we partied hard and slam danced on our breaks. Lots of Budweiser and Coors Light and spliff. I have never forgotten that fun time. Got elbow I think on back of me 'ed from slammin with Mike and our lead singer Dexter Chaos brutal but so freaking cool. It was a gas man really a gas! I still treasure the memory.
Mike Ness sings for our wounded hearts and our troubled souls.. But at the end of every song usually there is a spark of hope.. Thank you Social D for being there 🙏
ian noonan my dad would always play this going on road trips and I loved it still do I'm in high school now and no one seems to like rock that much then again I do live in the south so that explains it but even on the west coast kids now like rap and aren't interested in rock n roll
This is (no kidding) one of the very best songs I've ever heard. Everything about it: guitar sound, solo, lyrics, Mike Ness's vocal delivery is 100% badass. And, somehow, it also feels lived-in and heartfelt, like a painful life laid bare. Rock perfection.
I love social D. My sister took me to their concert at Irvine meadows she made the best brownies. She passed 5/17/21 I inherited her social d poster for. The house of blues. We had the best time at Irvine meadows
Social Distortion is one of the best punk bands in the USA. What I like about this band is that they don't talk too much and Mike Ness is calm and he is very different compared to other punk band vocalists who like to use imagery to increase the prestige of their band.
Mike Ness is the Timeless Alpha Male. No matter the time period, he never looks out of place, always remains cool, stylish, and authentic. Plus, it never hurts to have a voice that sounds like someone scraping bark off a tree with a pocket knife.
I Can't Even Remember What I Was Watching Last Night When I Heard This Song In The Background Soundtrack Or End Credits But I Had To Find It & Now I'm Glad I Did !!! No Sleep Last Night But WELL WORTH IT Cuz Mike Ness Is A BEAST !!! Ernie Ball's "The Pursuit Of Tone" Featuring Mike Ness Is A Killer Video & Shows The Tip Of The Iceberg That Is "Mike Ness" !!! This MoFo Could've Been The One That Sank The Titanic !!! He's The Jesse James Of Rock & Roll !!! Now I'm Off To eBay To Buy Some Social Distortion !!!
This is my favorite Social Distortion song....which, really , since they have so many great songs , it was extremely hard to pick a favorite...but this one does it for me.
Social D, The Cramps, Reverend Horton, Misfits, Fear, Ramones.❤❤❤....all timeless and every single one saw me thru adolescent to the citizen that I try to be today...I did say TRY....HEE HEE😂😂😂
Social Distortion live at the Roxy is definitely in my top 5 Desert island 🏝 albums. I can listen to it over and over and never get tired of it. Mike Ness talking between the tracks is classic.
Bands like Social D brought us right into the late 90s back in the first years of that amazingly transcendent decade! Yet, ironically, fused to their new age sound there were old school rock n roll elements that both underpinned & enhanced it. Social D's sounds & lyrics will resonate to the end of time!
This is my all time favorite song ! I just can't get enough of it.And it's hard to believe this song was written way back in 1992.Man,those twenty-six years sure flew by pretty fast.
Man i wish i had a chance that I could meet Mike Ness one day just for few minutes and thank him for the hard time Social Distortion helped me get through.
So lucky to have seen Social Distortion multiple times. On their last tour in Florida took my then 15 y/o and told him he'll really appreciate it in about 15 years.
You either like Social Distortion or you don't...no in between. I thinks they are a killer band. Raw rockabilly type with a good ol rock n roll attitude.
I wasn't a punk, I was a metalhead but Social D always got the nod of approval especially this song. Even at the tender age of 16 this song resonated with me, the sentiment was like an old comfortable jacket that I'd had for years. Still does. Well done Mike.
As I grew older I always loved Rockabilly but I always loved having the punk rock mentallity and growing up not giving and shit living my life how I feel like I should live, just like Cash and Presley did there own thing, but I think our generation Mike Ness really embodies every kid that wanted to do there own thing and not give a shit how they were looked at but lived there own way.
Pragmatic, Down to Earth, tried and proven, Mike Ness is beyond great, he's legendary!! I love this band so muuuuuuuch!!! I listen to down here with the rest of us, and the lyrics make me teary eyed, I just relate to these lyrics so much, my life has sucked so bad before, and Social D understood perfectly. My favorite band of all time hands down.
I first started listening to Social Distortion somewhere between 89-92 when I was stationed in Germany. Now 32+ years I finally got to see them in concert Bad Religion and Love Crimes opening in Des Moines, Iowa! GREAT PERFORMANCE!!! THANK YOU🤘🤘🤘
Another great & fantastically original band from the early 90s that helped pull much of the musical firmament of that groundbreaking epoch deep into the late 90s such was the amazingly cutting edge transcendence of Social Distortion, with this superlative masterpiece being finely emblematic of that early 90s pioneering hybridization of Hard Rock, Alt Rock & Punk, 3 different styles that Social D could weave together seamlessly & skillfully, seminal as that super band was. Timeless!
Yeah, I've got back luck. For more years than I can remember. That doesn't mean a lot since my memory is shot from 2000 on. Social Distortion hits the spot everytime.
I love them. They burst the dam. When I was a young kid about ‘89 the Johnny Cash stuff was Granddad’s music. The old stuff was Old. Social Distortion shattered all that and really opened our musical horizons😊
old school or new school...they still sound the same and their style is legendary...every since i heard story of my life on guitar hero and mommy's little monster i was hooked....love live social d
Mike Ness doesnt touch you with his music. He punches you with it !
Mike Ness is receiving a key to the city on April 3, 2024 in the city where he grew up….Fullerton, CA.
I was just out to Fullerton on business. Had I known, I'd have checked out his hometown a bit more. Cool to know.
He's also a freemason out of Grand Lodge in the circle of Orange 🍊=33
Cool man! 😁👍🤘🇦🇺
I didn't know..thanks I'm from Norwalk the next town...I went to school also in Fullerton..the night school..93.. truly love this band . thanks again stay ferice and free love you lupo

I’m here in the car with my 49 year old dad and I’m 14, he’s been telling me the songs to play and I’m not disappointed
They are playing a few hours from here in Sept. My 17 year old juat made me feel like I did a good job as a father when he said
Dad social distortion is coming we should go!
Lol
Love Mike's singing and songwriting, drag Jim behind my truck for his public politics.
Social D never gets old. This song is timeless.

I'm 53 now, and I'm sure u remember the 70s bro? Those were great times, but other than that, i loved the early to mid 90's!! After that everything went to hell
I've seen social d at least 100 times and both my kids have gone as their 1st concert. Want those little punks to know what badass sounds like.
Good for you....badass Mom. Cheers.

"You tell them that there ain't no God, that they're better off standin' alone." That lyric still sends chills down my spine.
Same!
You could have also pick out Bible verses in some of Mike's songs. I'm a smoking drinking Falmouth idiot but I love Jesus and I follow his 11th commandment help others anytime anywhere just my nature bro
He's wrong though there is a God
It is great lyrics it is just a lyric
Original West Coast Punk. As Legit as The Ramones are to NYC. Saw them open for Sonic Youth and Crazy Horse in 92. They were the best thing that night.

Right on..real rock and roll...volbeats close, but this is their inspiration
Saw them in Indianapolis in 2018!! Love their music!
Their new sound just isn’t as good as they were.
All their songs are what i classify as "in your face"
To my dear friend Kathleen that lived in So. Cal......Cancer may have taken your body but I close my eyes and see you dancing across the star filled sky while this is blasting throughout the entire universe....I miss you so much.

This song never ever gets old. Great band. Was just watching the 92 CBGBs show and they were killing it.
Mike Ness rocks. big respect to him for surviving and remaining an Artist.
Love this song. The beginning, the punk/rock rhythm & singing, the pure rock & roll guitar solo, classic
I got to meet these dudes back in '81 shared studio with them. I was a drummer in a band called ANTI. In Hollywood on Sunset bl or nearby. Just remember we partied hard and slam danced on our breaks. One of my all time favorite bands, The soundtrack of life! Thank you Ness!
I was 17 when I saw this song on MTV, and my mind was blown......imagine if the media still actually supported ROCK bands.
This is (no kidding) one of the very best songs I've ever heard. Everything about it: guitar sound, solo, lyrics, Mike Ness's vocal delivery is 100% badass. And, somehow, it also feels lived-in and heartfelt, like a painful life laid bare.

I disagree. That is sigma don’t give an F about nothing energy. Rock on Mike!
@@DanGoodman-n4b Well when I wrote this in 2011, there was no such thing, so cut me a LITTLE slack lol.

Punkabilly!
I only know people who like them and people who never heard of them
What's not to like about Social D!?
Mike said the same thing in some interview. Bruce rates them, what else do you need?
Doesn't matter what ya call it.....it kicks ass.
Just gritty pub rock. Play it again
One of the best pool playing songs ever !
I love this band. I love this song. I love the video. Mike Ness is the best !
I bet these guys would have taken it easier if they knew they would last for 40 some years !! Ease up and give us 40 more !!
The ending slays me. So beautiful
Mike Ness is a wonderful musician 😍
Mike Ness makes me feel things that I can't even put into words.
If modern artists/performers had 1/1,000 the guts Mike Ness has, they'd be somebody.
I this song grabbed me at first listen. That doesn't happen very often.
I'm drunk and loving it going down memory lane on vacation miss these days of going to weekend shows growing up sucks lol god bless
One of the best albums ever made imo
Have listened to all their albums and to me Somewhere between heaven and hell is their best.
