Mike Ness has not only been a wicked rad influence in my life musically, but I was in Chicago when he asked for all the youngest kids to come on stage. I was 8 months pregnant and the crowd gathered around me to protect me. Mike had his own kids with him and this was what I love most. It's all about family and the next generation of music. My daughter still proclaims to her friends that her first concert was Social Distortion in Chicago. Love you Mr Ness 😊
I remember when I first heard Social D, my father gave me one of their CDs back when I was like 10. He told me their music is living music, fighting music, crying music, it is rock for the soul. He was right. I'm still a fan after all these years.
@@danielryan6527 if it was only based on talent, they absolutely would be. But I think those types of things are basically nothing more than a hyped-up glorified popularity contest. Unfortunately.
When i first heard this song, i had just gotten out of a five year relationship. I was mad at everything, so obviously i was listening to angry music. This song came on and i started listening to the lyrics and i broke down. Five years flashed before my eyes and i had realized what had gone wrong and why. I was in the wrong. From that day on i was a different person. This song literally changed my life. That you Social Distortion and thank you Mike Ness!! Keep rocking the fucking earth!!
Been to many SD all ages shows in my lifetime where I've seen Mr. Ness ask the kids in the crowd whose got the cool parents who took who them to the show tonight. So one night at Irving Plaza in NYC when he asked the same question I yelled down to him: Who is the cool son who took his Mom to the show? We had a reserved table upstairs, stage left in the corner just the 2 of us, Mom smoking Salem's and sipping Manhattan's. Mike pounded his chest and blew a kiss up to my Mom. It made her night. RIP Mom you were way cool.
That's definitely an awesome story of your life. I'm sorry about your mom dude. My dad passed away a few years ago from cancer. I'm still waiting for social distortion to come to St. Louis. It would be my first time seeing them perform In real life. Social Distortion has helped me through a lot of happy, sad and fucked up situations in my life. They are among the too 3 favorite punk rock bands in my opinion.... In no particular order these are my top 3 favorites. Social Distortion, Maid of Ace, Rancid... And Mike and the gang get to tour with Maid of Ace next summer in Europe.. I don't know who makes me more jealous... Social Distortion or Maid of Ace....
social distortion is so timeless. i remember first hearing 'em when i was a kid like 26 years ago, and i still get that same killer feeling when i hear their new stuff today.
this song is so fucking amazing, social distortion is my fav band for the past 8/9 years the songs mean so much and they have helped me get through so much in my life. thank u social D
All of SD's songs have so much meaning to them in their lyrics... it is insane how great a band they are. One of the best things was when I found out about this band last year. Better late then never! I dedicate this song to all of those who have been stabbed in the back by a "friend". Leaving you far behind and don't waste my time.
LOVE THIS SONG!! Social D is the best band in the world and I dedicated this to all of the people who pretended to be my friend but were hatin behind my back!! Good Riddance!!
i first heard this flipping through my TV's radio channels (comcast). one of the first punk experiences i had. 4 or 5 years later i never looked back baby
I remember seeing them at the Beale Street Music Festival a few years back and Mr. Ness introduced this as a new song. It was such an awesome feeling listening to this live while the wind from the river blew through my hair and the smoke from my joint filled my lungs. They sounded so sick on the main stage.
My 14 yr old daughter got me n 2 this band.....& OMG!! I have been listening to them for a about a year now...I am from Detroit and I traveled down to Columbus to see them on June 28th, I can't get enough of them. I absolutely love every song they do & that's not a exaggeration. I cant believe this band is not all over the radio. I do remember them in the 80's but back then I didn't give punk the time of day......I do know in my later years, lol Love all there music from 1978 to now :)
The friend that introduced me to Social D od'd and and is gone from my life now. Social D reminds me of him and all the years long gone. I love the band... even though Mike Ness was an ass to me the 1 and only time I met him... No ones perfect and I am no one to judge.
Oh my god, do I ever need this song today. So sick of toxic people busy trying to tear others down because they got nothing going on in their own lives. Buh bye!
THIS is it! Goddamn, I was trying to remember what this song was for like 2 weeks... Heard I Was Wrong, it reminded me of SOMEthing (this), somehow didn't make the connection.
ya know ive always tried to be loving to everyone but really listen to whats being said in this song, how often have you felt this way????????? forgive yes forget no!! im very forgiving but there a point where you just gotta walk away and this song spells it out better than most ive heard
My chemistry professor today: Alright we are moving onto chapter four tomorrow. At this point if you have not read chapter 2 or done any of the suggested problems, you are behind. Wanna know how far behind? Listen to Social Distortion's song "far behind" thats how far behind you are. I love my chem professor.
I'll never forget meeting them in bakersfield. I was two months sober. I balled my eyes out like a little bitch during ball and chain. after words he told me to not feel bad because music is supposed to resonate with you. He then gave me a giant hug and said, "it'll all be ok someday sick boy." Some things in life you just can't forget.
I bet most of you here thinking you discovered a new band have herd Story of my life a million times before and never realized who was on. I don't blame you, its what happens, the catchy tunes get the buzz and no one cares its catchy and I like it. Word of advice, listen to a whole CD. The best music never makes it on the air. if the music on a CD isn't better than the radio song then you knot its a dud of a band, IE. one hit wonder.
This song reminds me of when I first move to Wyoming my Sophomore year from SOCAL. Fuck I was an Alien to those foo's. I hear it now some 30 years later knowing those same people here in Wyoming are doing no better then me. I left em far behind!!
"When I get the time I'd put it all down and cheer you up I'd say throw it all away...... Descendants/All/Social D./Suicidal Tendencies..... Ahh good times, from my youth
this song is great! I thought the first verse was hilarious! 'shake my hand pissing on my leg'. I guess its the best way to describe a back stabber. I've never heard it said b4
@rdeguido2 I live between Toledo and Sandusky and pretty much grew up with Social D. Don't think it's an Ohio thing, you're just around the wrong people haha. Mike Ness has been at it a longgggg time and still kicking ass!

This is Get The Time of the Descendents !
You ain't right, you ain't never gonna be.... Descendents is pop-punk (wtf? why not just say "shit")?
Descendents pop punk ? Really ? This song is the same as Get The Time, it's a fact. And the descendents are punk rock.
What do this song , "Get the time" by Descendents and "Take Me Back" by Ataris have in common?yes they all have english lyrics
