    When I meditate I meditate for 2 to 3 hours and it usually feels like 10 minutes. It's the most amazing thing. You become lost in yourself and in the universe. Nothing to think about or worry about, you just are.

    I have to point out that the lotus position is not necessary to meditate. The importance and specificity placed on this scares a lot of people off. The hand placement especially does absolutely nothing. All that is important is that you sit up straight so breathing is easy and natural with the curve of your spine. Whether you need to sit against a wall, legs in whichever position you like, or on a chair, or for some people even lying down, it doesn't really matter, what matters is focusing on breathing, or music or whatever, clearing your mind of thoughts and truly finding peace in the stillness.

      Treefrog Johnson so you can meditate sitting down? i always felt this would be easiest because I can never get relaxed in a lotus position

    • @treefrogjohnson7514
      @treefrogjohnson7514 8 років тому +3

      Alice InCrazyLand You can meditate in whatever position you want. What is important is that you have good posture so you can breathe as easy as possible, which for some people even means lying down on their backs.

    • @paareth
      @paareth 8 років тому +2

      Depends what you want to do. Hand position does a heck of a lot. Because your hand is another version of your body, or a way to access it. Position is important depending on what you want to do. Both your hands and you, laying down, kneeling straight or sitting. Here is one guide, though there are several www.harisingh.com/newsMudras.htm

    ok so I realized after this video that I've been apparently meditating for a while in my own style. and that I can do it in any position of sitting and even at school with sounds going on. I end up thinking of nothing, not even realize I'm breathing and I even stop hearing the ones around me because of the state of relaxation and bliss I'm in. and the feeling I get from this is so addictive and amazing! I feel shivers down my spine as I'm doing deeper and deeper into my meditation. this has changed my life.

    I love watching your videos! My mom is a very spiritual person and my dad is very close minded about stuff like this. I find it absolutely fascinating and I find myself constantly wanting to learn more. I've struggled with depression and anxiety for so long and I've told my family that I need help but I haven't received any. I've gotten to the point where I, physically and mentally, cannot allow myself to be like this anymore. You're such an inspiring and knowledgeable person and after you said that meditation can help with depression, I immediately wanted to try it. I have yet to do so, so hopefully it helps me in some way. Thank you Koi!

    after watching this I REALLY meditated for the first time. I kept thinking "I am the universe" and "think of not thinking" and I thought I was meditating for only about 2 minutes but it turned out I was meditating for 10! that's amazing for me because every time I've tried to meditate I've always done the "think about one thing" method and that only lasted for about a minute or so. THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO

    Thank you Koi and happy one year on youtube! You have spread so much knowledge and positivity in such a short time. I started meditating and would feel damn good after. It is self gratifying when you get your mind to be silent and become one with all there is. However I haven't been motivated to meditate lately. This video has definitely motivated me and I'm gonna sign off and do it now because I'll thank myself later lol. Meditation feels great when you get the hang of it. When my mind is silent it is allowing. I sometimes get visions of nature-y things. It is pretty cool because they just pop up like a screensaver in my mind.

    I also believe meditation is the single most important practice we can experience. Ive meditated daily for the entirety of my life. I have gotten to a point where i can do it at will, anywhere, anytime. When im conversing with others i automatically go into that state, not really by choice, i can freely flow ideas. Its as if it comes from anther place. the most important thing ive learned from that experience is that ANY form of art, ideas, music, and philosophy is not created. It already exists somewhere else, it just takes the right person to become the vessel and translate into something physical. It is important because a lot of artists will be praised and then their ego will take over and they will loose that connection. I believe that why even people in power will be corrupted so easily, unless they were already corrupted lol. Thanks!

      That's bullshit. Stop making excuses and just go for it. Meditation requires practice. There js no human beeing that cant focus. In a 20 minute meditation you might focus for just a second, but with daily practice than 1 sencond of focus will become 2, 3, 4 etc. Untill you master your calm your messy mind.

    i meditated like this for probably 4 hours or more once lying down and found myself in some timeless space in my mind where all my senses and thoughts were gone. leading up to that point i had started to notice my thoughts coming twice, once as like a feeling, then again as my mind put them into words that i would 'hear' in my head. after i had been lying in the timeless awareness for a while i got up suddenly and went to switch on the light but it didnt work, i walked out of my room and down the hall and suddenly realised i was in an OBE, the most vivid and close to reality ive ever had. except in the obe my house was dark and empty but when i woke up the lights were on and my family was there.

    I fully agree with what and how you explain it. I was a TM meditator. It is just letting yourself go. In fact I call TM as effortlessness. Let the thoughts come and go and you don't work on those. It is like clouds in the sky where clouds come and go without involving yourself or attaching to those. That is when you feel bliss and losing yourself in it. At the end of each Bhagwat Gita it says 'OM Sachinand'--meaning a state of blissful consciousness.
    Rest the meditation posture etc are similar to what you say.

    I've heard that meditation is extremely beneficial from many of my elders, but never really pursued trying it. I think it would be a good idea to do so with my intense gymnastics training. And, I though I already knew a lot, but there is so much I don't know! I never realized it is okay to "not think". I always fear that if I stop thinking and worrying, I will not be able to grasp control of my thoughts. I realized this is stupid, and it may even be beneficial to clear your mind, & just "be". I think I am going to incorporate meditation in my life.
    Thank you for the effort you put in your videos. We need more people like you on the Internet.

My stomach pains make it so hard to live day by day.. I can feel fine one second and then feel like I'm dying two seconds later. It makes it extremely hard to go out and get things done. This practice is bettering my life regardless if in it's intended way. I'll 100% still practice being thought free, but using these techniques for my stomach is a life saver. Just thank you so much.

      Relatable. If you want to meditate outside but don’t like mosquitoes, I’d recommend lighting a citronella candle. It repels bugs and helps with the meditative ambiance.

      Considering it's part of our body, and it probably wasn't meant to be cut, I assume the article was correct. I don't know if you read this but I read an article stating that the gov. wanted to use the best Native American trackers (for their tracking skills) and they cut their hair. After they cut their hair they pretty much lose their tracking abilities stating that they lost their 6th sense.

My awareness stretches far past these fingers and toes--I feel the dew drops on quiet blades of grass, the bright moving sun that awakens life, and the warm earth beneath me, breathing the waves of the ocean. I realize nothing is taken, nothing is created, nothing is and is not, nothing.

      Tergantung dong... Have You a time to listen?, that will be too much more and more. You can answer that question. Sit down and try. I can meditate on a train but it took me a while to be able to do it. It was always funny getting looks from people in busy places :D It all depends what your goal is. Meditation has many uses, from getting high from sitting there, to exiting the body, to stilling the mind, to healing, to going on a visual journey, to connecting with parts of your body to see why and where you are in pain etc, to getting answers to any question.

    I had been dedicating every day or other day to chakra meditating for 2-3 months. It was pretty cool at first because a few months in I was seeing the colors of chakras and such. I usually did guided meditations and occasionally listened to zen music. After about three to four months I saw something that really kinda geeked me out though, and I stopped. I'm guessing it was too much focus on chakras?
