Hahaha, glad the vid could do that! Thank you so much for the support!
Sometimes a town will contract with a landscaping or other company to remove and instantly mulch trees. Asplundh was one company. I called them and got a huge pile of free mulch from them.
Hi! Can you provide an update on your front yard? It will be I interesting to see how it looks in the winter. Always hard to figure out how an area will look in winter with plants. Appreciate if you can do that!
I love my turk's cap plants! They're red, self sufficient, & reliable.
Congratulations on a completing a tough job. It looks great.
I love the contrasting colours and textures of all the plants you used Paul! When they grow and fill the space the bed will look awesome!!! Earth is my planet!!! Lots of love from Greece!!!
I know, I can’t wait to see everything grow in! Thanks for the comments as usual.
“Sheeeeet Mulchiing!” All the way 😂🦋🌸🌿👍
I subscribed in the first 10 seconds. That movie is my favorite.
Dude, such an amazing neighborhood you are in. Every time you need something from bricks to landscape rocks to mulch your neighbors have it to offer :)
First time viewer, glad to find a fellow young-adult-dude-Texan-gardener! I enjoy the comedy gardening vibes 🤙🏼
Having the bricks with your last name printed is a truly remarkable :)
Earth is ma planet🙏🏾😹🤟🏾
I can relaaaaaate to this video because you are just you, not a pretentious "scene gardener".
Much respect from 2 hours west of you!
Love the plant selection. I would have stacked the top row of bricks in the opposite direction for more stability. Beautiful neighborhood. Please post an update as these plantings mature. Thanks!
this dude is hilarious. very different from all the other gardening/landscaping channels i follow lmao. SUBSCRIBED! :)
That really adds to the beauty of the neighborhood. If I walked by with my dog I would notice and be like oooooo pretty.
Deep Purple Like smoke on the water Fire in the sky ❤️❤️❤️ the plants✌️Earf is my planet
You are so resourceful 🙏👍
I enjoy watching anyone who take pride in caring for their property & creating a beautiful garden. You truly did your homework. Bravo!
just purchased my first plant the other day; never really took the time to appreciate plants but the past year and thanks to this channel its opened my eyes to how magical they are. *yes im super high writing this comment haha*
LoL
Hahaha, that’s awesome! Most of the time we walk through life and don’t think twice but when you actually stop and look they’re pretty damn cool.
Looks amazing.
Nice job! Enjoy the video.
Beautiful ❤
I've got that liriope too. So good!
Great videos. Hopefully there are more to come!
8 months later would love to see how it's grown in.
I’m from Houston too !!!! Hella love your videos, they’re so engaging and informational. I’m here trying to make my parents front yard nicer. You’re going to be my go to, this whole process! Blessss!!!!!
Great video! Music, fun facts and ideas for a budget garden 100% on point. I look forward to watching more.
Looks great! The mulch really makes it look nice and clean! Can't wait to see how it will fill out that area when they start growing! Very beautiful! Hope you and your girl friend are doing well! Stay out of the heat! Much love from Galveston Texas ❤️
Makeover is legit
Thank you so much homie!
Oh my goodness! Finally someone not only in my zone but local! I am in Seabrook and new to planting in landscaping. Only 3 minutes into this video but I am excited! My front faces East so it gets great morning sun but no afternoon. So I will have to do opposite to you lol
Morning sun is ideal for a lot of plants. Pretty much everything I planted would work well with morning sun except maybe the heuchera.
Shade garden looks amazing? Hope to see an update video on how everything has evolved.
Turned out really nice, plus I learned about the plants you used. I’m doing some research before I start my project so this video was really helpful plus I liked your personality. I subscribed.
Always enjoy watching your gardening videos can’t wait to have my own garden in the future.
Thank you for the support! AYYE start with some house plants
Great job !
Love & appreciate your sense of humor! Awesome
Thanks so much for watching, glad it's appreciated! Haha

Amazing video brother. Thank you
Wow i like this kind of videos.😍😍😍😍
What a fun video. Officially a new sub
I’m so jealous! I have zero shade. I would love to have a shade garden full of Hostas! I’m in New Orleans and I’m sure you know how hot the summers get down south. My front and back yard is all open space, so everything I plant has to be sun loving annuals and shrubs. I’m so glad I found you. I def subscribed! It’s always nice to watch YT videos of someone who shares the same zone as you. I’m a fairly new gardener. I only started taking interest in my lawn and gardening within the last few years, so I have lots to learn! I’m about to install my first ever drip irrigation system this weekend. We’ll see how that goes, lol!
Your really great on camera btw. Such a natural! I really enjoyed this video and hope to see some more this season🌻
You can plant a ton in the sun, get in some trees so you can have a shady space in the future. There are literally limitless perennials for full sun down here! Get after it and thanks for the support!
Your video is soooooo clear! Amazing!
Thank you so much. Hahaha
You had me at Malibu’s Most Wanted.
Yep, Houston Texas is 🥵
very nice
Beautimous dude!
Great video
I love this content!! Keep going!
Thank you homie, I shall
Support from Cypress
Oh dear god TY I am in Florida & trying to find resources on gardening/landscape but everyone seems to be a zone 7 or under. Excited to binge your stuff
Bruh you're a star. Normally I watch gardening videos on like 1.5-2x speed but yours I always watch at 1. HGTV could never. So they should give you a show instead!
I appreciate the support!! I’m glad my vids are an easy watch!
Dope video my guy. Gardening on a budget. We have sagos in big ass pots and have contemplated putting them in the ground but are afraid they will die in the winter freeze 😬. We usually bring them in when temps fall below freezing. But I want them to stand tall like the way you have yours.
You ROCK...
I subscribed some days ago and I’ve been loving the videos !! Your front yard is impressive
Thank you so much, I didn’t know how to handle the large lot I have but I’m glad I got it.
Even without you saying it, I can hear that you're local to Houston. 😊
that camera omg! your plants channel has extremely youtube production value compared to most of the plants channels I watch. Has me wanting a camera like yours. great content as always, love to see city plantings in the southern graeat plains
Hey man! Just want to give you a helpful tip with mulching, try using a pitchfork to scoop up the mulch! Makes it infinitely more easy than a shovel. It also makes spreading it evenly really easy since you can kinda use the pitchfork to sprinkle it opposed to having to dump mounds and then spreading it out!
Ahhhhh that’s smart. Yeah I need to get one of those for sure. Thanks for the tip!
Really need Some Windmill Palms Or Musa Basjoo banana trees! Musa basjoo grow Huge in a really short amount of time :)
Agreed, great hardy tropical species
I grow musa basjoo here just outside Chicago. Does amazing in our climate. Cut the plant down to the ground each fall. I put a small blanket over it then cover with 4 inch of mulch for some Insulation. This year will be the 3rd year
Respect
good time time show us maintained
🤘 H Town 💚
Paul Plantu and you can too!
That shirt is too dope!
Hahaha, thanks bro!!
Love these videos bro! Can feel the vibes 🤙🏽
Thanks for the support fam!!
If you like dark purple foliage and hot pink flowers, lorapetalum might be for you! They're a small shrub like plant. Bloom is 2-3 times per year for me.
Love your energy and passion for gardening. Appreciate the history behind each plant too. Curious to see what they look like now 😃
I’m going to do a year update in a month or two! Everything is healthy and about to hit their spring growth spurt
Paul, I just watched your video here and you have given some really good tips. I was wanting to know if you could give me some design layouts for my beds as well. I live in Kingwood and my wife and myself are wanting some tips on what colors would go great in our front lawn.
Nice! Show us an update!
That garden will look amazing in a few months time, I love the colours of the variegated ginger plants. How did you go with the pear trees, have you picked them yet?
I need to pick the pears soon, I think a couple may be ready.
I’m trying to Grow some Japanese maples down south.Good luck use some preen throughout the beds will keep out all the weeds.
I keep the garden organic. The leaves stop weeds for the most part then I hand pull what else pops
I was using paper but i still get grass coming up. I will definitely try cardboard! 🙂
That is beautiful! I just found your channel; can you give us an update?
been a year now didn't realize when I was commenting it was an old video, so what's happening now we need up dates
U could of made a lil slice n the oak tree babies dip it n root powder wrap it where the slice is let the roots grow then cut em down n replant em or sale em
That’s a good idea, I have a bunch of seedlings already that I’ve been growing out. Preciate the comments
Awesome content man. Just found this channel and Im already a fan. Im also in Houston, what are some of your favorite places to buy native plants?
That’s love thanks for watching! I go to Buchanan’s for a big selection of natives. They are more pricey though. If you go to Lowe’s and just research the tags you can find natives there too. Some are cultivars though.
you need to start growing shrooms in the mulch bro
Can you provide an update? I'm interested to see how tall your variegated gingers grew. I have some that are 6" tall.
I’m in Texas too and i keep trying different things but my front yard is nothing but sun right now, do you have any full sun videos
It would be great if you would list all your plants in the description box. Thanks
What did you do with those running tree roots? I have that problem. Hard work for me.
Do you dig below the cardboard to plant? what is your mulch made up of?
😮
Come to Bakersfield
What is going to keep your bricks in place since you didn't use mortar?
You’ve come along way from your bare ground and dead bushes, I will give you that. My only suggestion is you could have spread out all those Green Cana lily , spread out those purple plants by five feet and layer the front with ground cover. You would have been able to fill in a ton more of your front garden but overall you did great ! keep up those Update garden videos , you always entertain! And I miss your free-stuff trips ... you always made me laugh. And I believe u even found “Real gold” Once , let me know if I’m wrong or if this was you? Try out offer-up App, for free stuff ...
sometimes you’ll be surprised 👌🏽
Haha, thank you so much! Yes, I do still dumpster dive and scrounge around for finds.
Would love to know where u buy them from I am also in houston
Im new! Do you keep the cardboard down? When you plant the plants doesn't the cardboard get in the way?
Wondering how your front yard is looking now a days?
I'm from Houston, can you please tell me where you purchased all of these?
Gucci content better than my garden
I’m in Austin/manor so I got 8b any big difference from 9a
when do you water?
Like my gpops use to say nothing is actually free bcuz u gotta give yo time to something n time ain't free
Ok zone 9
Free 99 🤣🤣🤣. Off to Craigslist I go.
Hello one question I live in Lancaster California and I wanted to know what plants I need to use can you help thanks 😊
Just google best native plants for California. I’m not sure where Lancaster is, northern or southern but there are literally a million and one different options for you.
bouy you sure are blessed free mulch free drop off free rock outline boarder with your name printed in them what more can you ask for it's a good look
the leaves of the cordyline plant were turning from purple to green.
I think the new leaves are more green then turn a darker red purple.
