- Thanks to Arkham Reporter and Nero the Pict for getting me copes of this! Hail to my Kamerads!!
With this book, Varg makes his case on many things, freeing himself from entrenched systems and taking DIY to another level( Do It Yourself becomes Do it Your Way). - Розваги
Let's find out!
👍
I did not know this book existed thank you for covering it on your channel because now I can go and get it I'm a big fan
All hail mighty Venom!
Varg is a true visionary. Also a great composer. He also has an interesting philosophy. I have all his music.
Truly an Original!
Man your videos are so interesting better than "popular" channels
Thanks man, I'm just trying to talk and show some interesting things to people that usually does not get a fair shake.🎉
Agreed. Already this channel is past 700 subs. Soon 1000.
Those first four Burzum albums were great, esp. Filosophem and Et som engang var.
The reason youve heard Black Metal being used before the whole 90s scene was because in a Venom interview from the early 80s cronos (i think) said "We are black metal, death metal, power metal" before any of those genres were even a thought. You can find the interview online.
Varg liking Altars of Madness is great, and if you check out his early URUK HAI recordings its total DESTRUCTION worship, like lost riffs from Sentence of Death/Infernal Overkill era.
Yeah, he always mentions Destruction's early stuff as an influence.
I remember as a ten year old reading an article in Circus magazine 1983 or 84 about European bands, the columnist saying something cheeky about "these Black metal" bands...it might have been about Bathory but I remember the term being written down then. Also there was an interview with the Beherit dude were he refers to the music as Black metal and "Satanic Death metal"I think from 1990. Then you have all the southeast Asian and south American black metal bands from the 80s.
Ultimately to me its all Metal and we should enjoy!
@@inthesegoingsdown kinda like Chuck Schuldiner said, Its all Just Rock N Roll if you boil it down. A few friends of mine just went to Japan and saw Beherit play live, so jealous.
There and back again! Bro thinks he's Bilbo Baggins now lol
I must get this.
the thing I was most stoked about in that book was Varg saying he really liked "Altars of Madness".
Why not - it was an important album for us back then - I would call it a Pillar of my generation.
Back then, the Norwegians appeared to sluggish a lot of things in order to build a separate and strict identity.
If they overdid it or not, is another long talk.
@@translucent_nick AOM was so fast, had crazy tempo changes and ferocity that I could not get into it at first...Trey and them pushed it to another level!!
@@inthesegoingsdown The way I seeing it, was that in the mid-80's bands who had a satanic imagery were given a bad rep by the major heavy metal magazines who used to equit satanic image to bad musicanship.
So, when "Altars Of Madness" got released, it was a shocking proof that satanic music can be fast, but technical and complex too, and getting played with amazing skills and majesty.
I have his book on Magic and Religion in Ancient Scandinavia. It approaches these topics in different ways than mainstream academia and is very interesting.
😂 so now I guess u think u know something about these things......

I saw was at number1 in USA.
Ill read it Tomorrow⚔️
My biggest take away from this was the few moments he spent about the technical creation of black metal, how to approach it. From what I read already by Filosofem he didn't regard what he made as black metal. I think it still counts but its clear to hear the completely different direction he was going.
Also surprising was his praise of (or at least acceptance of) Immortal. I recall him saying Abbath wasn't so bright. I think just a clash of characters there maybe. Abbath did some guitar tutorials on youtube if you're interested though he is pretty wasted in most of them.
His next book is almost out about his childhood. Will you get it? I think I'll skip that. I'd like to know of his prison time and post-prison (eg when the French police came after him) and he'll be writing everything sequentially.
I gotta see those Abbath drunk tutorials!
Varg's stories as a kid in Iraq was one of the best videos he did. I shall continue with the book series.
hahaha yeah the Abbath tutorials where he cant remember how to play and gives up 😂
@@deathsheadknight2137 I admire his honesty. His guitar playing is good though, even better than necessary for black metal.
Yeah, talks positively about Immortal and Darkthrone and calls Emperor and Enslaved outsider copycats. Enslaved's Vikinglir Veldi does have that trance-like atmospheric repetition that was no-where before Burzum. So I can understand that he felt ripped off, but they were all basically children at the time. I'm glad Enslaved copied him because that album is amazing--only one I like.
this guy sounds like a sociopath, and was an internet diva, loves the attention
I'm definitely buying this book soon. Essential reading from the count himself.
Fuck yeah Immortal! \m/
Balalaikas are those triangle russian banjo guitars
I can hear what you look like.
Thumbs up or thumbs down? Lol!
Norwegian intelligence was Varg's occupation. Music was good for what it was worth though.
Bruh 😂😂😂😂
that cover is hilariously bad
Too dear for more milking of the same old silly murder and I can’t take a Norwegian seriously that claims that Venom, let alone Bathory, were not seen as black metal but Norwegian Johnny come lately bands invented it. It’s called 2nd wave for a reason.
Yeah I couldn't get with Varg on that, Norwegian Black Metal is a kind of Black Metal not Black Metal itself..people can say the term was popularized with those bands but "popularize"?!
Those are blasphemous words even for the Blasphemous!!! lol!
Sort your sound out.
I'll hire a Sound Engineer, pronto.

Lords of Chaos is a better book. Varg Vikernes is just a frustrated trump supporter.
Varg don't give a fuck about conman Trump. Varg thinks the US is a pathetic joke which it is. He may like Trump because he knows Trump will ultimately ruin America. Trump's love for evangelicals is enough to make Varg vomit 🤮
It's an awful book. Probably as as bad Varg's. A quality book on the subject(s) is by Dayal Patterson of Cult Never Dies
I hope you keep your boosters up to date, don’t skip them.
Lord's of chaos sucked!!! Already read this book it's good, varg isn't a writer but a great story teller. It would be best with him telling it in a series of videos.
Thulean perspective should never have been taken down.
Lords of Chaos was crap. TRUMP 2024!
